Hello there, Totally new to the biking world, though I have gotten my feet a bit wet. First of all, I go by the name Vitai Slade, so hello to all of you. Second, I currently own a 2001 Yamaha R6 and love it. It is my first bike and already I've had tons of fun. Now I firmly believe that there are two kinds of riders. Those that have dropped their bike, and those that WILL drop their bike. I am of the former group. Thankfully, I have learned my lesson on this used bike. No, no, I wasn't cruising at 90mph down the highway. In fact, I was sitting in a parking spot. YES, a PARKING SPOT. Though embarrassing as it might be, I tell you that I had just performed the dumbest …

Hi, New to the forum here. I just bought a 2001 Yamaha YZF 600R. I noticed when I am on the freeway or hitting about 50-60, the temp stays cool below 70. (I would assume this is because the high speeds cool the engine additionally.) However after running it for a bit, if I am cruising through city traffic, the temp gauge hits 100. There is an extra space between that and the red-line - but how hot is hot? Is this normal? My last bike didn't have the same temp gauge - it was a Honda. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Adam

Hi folks, ive just gone from a 2002 Ducati 996S to an Origional 98 R1 and its amazing. The 996S looked the nuts, sounded like 2 skeletons w@nking off in a biscuit tin and was as light as a scousers fingers, but once you pulled away from the curb is was an absolute bag of bolts, stalling all the time in cold weather and rain. I shouldve gone with my instincts and stayed with Jap bikes but I fancied a change and had a few quid in my pocket. My Ducati had recently been serviced prior to buying it (DUCATI MANCHESTER) (SPIT!!), £450 for a service, thats in pounds not roubles or Yen!!! After I got shot of it I looked around for somthing different, ive mostly had G…

I thought it only polite to say 'hi' to everyone as I've just joined- no point in lurking at the back looking shifty is there? I don't have a bike (at the minute), although I have had a few small sports bikes in the past- FZR400RR, SZR660s, TZR250s, that kind of thing. My bf has a Buell Firebolt 12 which is very lovely. We're looking to build me a little hardtail bobber this year around an SR250, money permitting (as ever...) Anyway, that's me for now Kayla

I'm new to biking and have just ordered a new FZ6 as my first real bike after passing my test. Would be grateful for any advice on running in the engine (rev limits etc) and scrubbing in new tyres. Also, as the bike will be mainly used as a get-to-work-weapon (about 50 miles a day) what is the feeling regarding scottoilers? Many thanks - glad to be here at last (nearly 40 and this is part of a well planned mid0life crisis!)

I just bought a 1999 WR 400 and it is a B#$%H to crank I have tried rolling the throttle a couple of times since the previous owner told me it had a carb pump then getting it just past top dead center using the compression release choking it, and kicking and kicking and kicking there has got to be something that will make this thing crank a little easier. What is the red choke button for? I have been using the black one? thanks for anyone willing to answer, anybody want buy an otherwise nice 400?

I am looking for any info on registering a rebuilt bike. I bought the sr250 as an insureance write off. It hadn't been in an accident, just stolen and replaced. My brother keeps saying i will have trouble registering it once its done. Infact he said that i could loose it altogether due to the frame number coming up as a write off. Does anyone have any advice. If that really is the case i will transfer everything onto the other sr250 frame, including the engine. The other thing he said is that i might have real trouble finding an insurer for a bike on a 'q' plate, which he says i'll have to register it as. Help please.

hi im new to this forum but wondered if anyone had any idea what the normal engine temperature should be on a yzf 600 thundercat 1998. the only reason i ask is that last week i took mine up to scotland and have never used it in the cold before but normally the gauge reads about 60 degrees c but when i went up north it dropped to about 40 degrees c and started missfiring. all the lads at work say there bikes are normally running about 75- 80 degrees c and dont fall much below this when on the move. when the temp on my bike drops it starts to missfire but when i stop and the temperature rises it stops missfiring. my suspisions lie with the thermostat or lack of t…

Good afternoon to you all, Please some advice from experienced boarders would be great! I just got myself a lovely little yam RSX100, £260 for a 1990 in good nick. I do need to replace the tires, and was wondering where is the best place to get them. Im not necessarilary looking for the cheapest option, however other then ebay (and i have looked), i got no idea where to look! With cars, you can just take them down to the local garage and hey presto - new tires! How about with old bikes? Could i just call a yamaha dealer, do thety still make this type of tire? Any assistance you could give would be great, please excuse my ignorance on this matter but as i sa…

Hi, I am about to buy my first bike and haven't got much experience with bikes - so far have used scooters on an odd occassion. I guess when one turnes 40 some marbles get lost - or found :-) All my mates say I should buy something up to 250 ccm, and hope not to end up under some truck. Also, they say if I buy small bike with something like 150 ccm I'll get bored in a space of a week and long for something bigger. Since I prefere custom and choppers I thought about Virago 250 and managed to find one locally ( Croatia ) for some 2000 euros. It's a bit old - '93., and it's got 40000 km on the clock ( some 25000 miles ). It's not too heavy and it's easy to handle - …

apparently, "daewoo" is korean for "blind stupid twat" Was crossing a bridge this morning, one of two I have to cross on my way to work, and the longer of the two. it is two lanes separated by cement dividers in the center, with cement dividers on the outside between the roadway and a sidewalk. Some jackass in a little daewoo sedan started coming in on me from the left, even though i was even with his front window... talking on his phone and drifting into my lane. The car in front was slowing, and the one behind was even with the daewoo's bumper, so i was pretty well pinched. i hit my horn.... no reaction. i pegged the revs..... no reaction, and now he has me …
