10 months ago I went to my local Yam dealer for a battery for my 535 Virago and came out with my 1300 midnight star, I was a bit nervous to start with as its so much bigger and heavier than the 535 but didn't take too long to get used to it. I've just clocked up 2000 miles on it, none of those miles were commuting as I am a self employed gardener but were totally purely for pleasure and mostly in glorious sunny weather . Yes I have got wet a few times and discovered or should say re-discovered that a disadvantage of an open faced helmet is that when you get caught out in a hail storm, big hail stones can fucking hurt. My non biking friends just cannot understand why whe…

Had the pleasure to meet the new Yamaha SR400 today. We had a photo shoot for a UK bike mag who wanted to compare The New Yamaha SR400 2014 model with a 1980 SR500 at the Speed Shop. The new 400 is so tractable in traffic, the fuel injection runs sweet. But its an extreme complication to the single cylinder format in my humble opinion.. My observation was that although everyone loved the new SR400 and they complained about the 1980's SR500 brakes and how it felt like an old bike........the old 500 was the one that was ridden many more times then the new 2014 bike and came back with bigger smiles. Draw your own conclusions! This is Kate, the lady that makes most of …

Hellooo everyone, In just a few days the all new Yamaha R1 will be released - well, not for sale but we'll know all about it. I thought I'd start this thread as a place we can post images, info and links to the news as it comes out. I find Asphalt and Rubber to be a pretty quick source of news, so that one will be worth keeping an eye on. TheRideAdvice is stating they're going to do a live blog. And this will be an actual stream from Milan for the unveiling. If you have anything you want to add let me know!

Hi, My son has a Yamaha Aerox which has been fine for the last month or so, however today he went for a ride with his mates, and the bike keeps dying when above idle. It's going to be recovered by the RAC. Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea what the solution is? Thanks Pete

Hi guys, Finally my new bike has arrived, been a long wait but I have to say the bike is awesome!! My background is very new to bikes, having only passed my test in February and as part of my early mid life crisis (42) decided on my first and probably last Sports bike, a 600 being way enough for me! My thing has been cars all my life, having some funky track use cars in the last 10 years i decided a sport bike was a tick box i needed to do. Back to the bike, I've tried several 600cc high output bikes and didn't get on to well with them, mostly on riding position 183cm/ 6ft1 but also as my first bike and having only brand new fast cars I decided a brand…

{{if $formValue}} {$value} {{endif}} The new generation Deltabox-style frame is a perfect example of how the XSR900 blends Yamaha heritage design with the latest road sports technology like nothing else. 40 years ago Yamaha was the first manufacturer to move away from the conventional tubular frame and develop what was then a controversial Deltabox design. With many wins to its credit, the Deltabox frame design proved its superiority beyond doubt. The new XSR900 now features a radically improved Deltabox chassis. Other key features such as the muscular fuel tank and vented body panels provide a purposeful design with an absence of …

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 25 WAYS TO IMPRESS YOUR GIRL 1. When she asks how she looks, shrug and say "could be better" this will keep her on her toes, and girls love that. 2. Never hold her hand. This can be interpreted as a sign of weakness (or if she grabs your hand squeeze hers really, really hard until she cries. This will impress her by showing her what a strong man you are.) 3. Once a month sneak up on her from behind and knock her over. Girls are like dogs. They love to be roughed up. 4. Call her in the middle of the night to ask if she's sleeping. If she is say "you better be" ,…

Hi All, I removed the motor from the bike to paint the frame etc and rebuilt the bike, i had the carbs bead blasted, cleaned them out and replaced the pilot jet and float needles. I also replaced the inlet balance rubbers. On starting the bike it has developed a flat spot and only improves with the choke on, one side exhaust is running hot and the other a lot colder. i also replaced one exhaust for a better condition one. Would replacing main slide needle and jet help and also reed valves? Or should i strip the carbs again and check for blockages? The motor ran fine before which is also a bit confusing, any sugestions will be greatfully recieved. Thanks, Mick.

Hi All, I have a 250LC 1980, I am having running problems when on the road at around 5,000 rpm it will run fine, if i open it up through the gears for aaround 30 seconds, it just cuts out, just like when you go from fuel on to reserve. I then pull over and the bike kickes over after about 30 seconds. the bike is all standard with the right size jets etc, I have removed the tank and cleaned, I have cleaned and checked the fuel tap as well. I have run out of ideas now, has anyone had come across this before? Is there anything else I need to check, is driving me mad as the bike goes very well if you dont open it up!! Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Mick.

Hi All, with the amount of oils available now and having been away from bikes for many years, what would be a good oil for the autolube on the LC? Obviously the smell of the Castrol is a great hit still, but I have read that there are many others now as good. Also is it still better to go for the pre mix than the auto lube? All recommendations welcome, Thanks, Mick.
