  1. Dear all, Took my old 1992 diversion XJ600S out for a spin last week. Drove 160Km on one day, but when I went to start the next day, upon turning the key the lights came on for a second and then everything died. Now no power at all when turning key on and I cannot explain it. Checked battery, no problem, 13.19 volts ( spent the winter on a trickle charger). Checked all fused, not avail. Anyone a clue where to start looking? Thanks, Simon

My eldest who has never been on a bike in his life has found a 2008 YBR 125 in a barn in Somerset, turns out he used to share a house with the original owner who bought in new but only rode it twice as after a low speed tumble he never rode it again, eventually it was given to his sister who took it with her when she moved back to run the family farm in somerset, now believe it or not this bike has only 156 miles on the clock, it appears to be in fairly good nick with a few scratches from the tumble back in 2008 and some surface rust on some of the shinny bits, it seems to run ok and has a MOT. I know that when he gets it I will be spending some time giving it a health ch…

It was found by my neighbour in the ditch after a big landslide blocked the old raod for several weeks a couple years ago. I have done some basic things to try to get it going as in clean the carb/atempted to rewire it ect but i still have no luck. I am trying to find more information about the bike but it is an old one with a 9 digit VIN that i can not find 16A-000181 on frame and on engine I am new to this forum, new to Yamaha bikes!! and i was hoping some of you good folks could help me …

Hi everyone The newbie is here again. I have my first manual bike after having a scooter for 4 years, and I am trying to get used to checking the chain tension......and it isn't going very well!!!! I checked the tension and according to Haynes Manual it was too tight so I have adjusted it to what it says, however I don't think the wheels are aligned now. Is there an easy way of finding this out, I have tried the string way and this is so fiddly I'm not confident it has worked. I think it is out of alignment as when I'm riding along the front wheel feels light - and ive lost my confidence going round sharp corners because a couple times it felt…

Hi There, I'm restoring a DT 125B and am trying to find the original paint colour. I've just posted this queation in the new members area by mistake, so apologies for my gaff. The bike looks almost a signal red, I will post a picture although the colour is a lot more vivid in reality, Thanks in anticipation Joe

I changed my oil today (as I do every 2500 miles) and to my horror I noticed some shiny little specs, just 3 or 4 little tiny specs of metal, but this has never happened before, even after the time it overheated and needed a top end rebuild. What the hell do I do now? Everything SEEMS to be ok, the gears all select as they should, starts every time, no knocking, everything is as it's always been.

I have a load of 'spares' left over from making one good motorbike out of two i started thinking about building a second motorbike out of the bits i didn't use, the frame is too far gone but the engine is ok, the swing arm needs rebuild, shocker has had it and the oil cooler has had it too etc etc -there's a lot that's shot bear in mind I have used the best parts for the bike that i restored i made what i think is a realistic list of what i need and the real cost of getting it running to a good standard. then i set that cost against what i could buy one for with a decent margin for contingencies so that i w…

Massive warning in the workshop manual section for the rear shock and remote reservoir saying must not sepertate from one another. Risk of accident etc But why? Its not built on it, Just linked from rear shock to side of head via a banjo ended pipe. Its ment to be gas filled and under 120psi Problem is that the end with the valve in has failed ie valve snapped of in my hand so now has a bolt in. No gas came out when it snapped either but i am sure thats my jack hammer death bounce swingarm is about.. took i while but gas leaked out with use etc. Why cant i just buy a new remote reservoir ? or am i missing the point here and even with a de presurised unit t…

Hi all First time action. I have just bought a 1979 DT175MX in need of heavy tlc. I also have a FZS600, my first big bike. Glad to be here and hope yo have constructive conversations with yoy. As the rebuild on the DT175 progresses I will try and upload some photos.

  13. Ok, so this is a long shot, seeing as how rare BT1100's seem to be in our fair land, but, mine has developed a rather annoying fault and I wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar. As I'm riding, especially as I accelerate, the oil and fuel warning lights come on briefly followed by the pre-start needle sweep of the speedo and tacho. There's no effect on the engine or lights, everything seems to be fine, I've checked oil levels etc, spot on......! What's going on? My old faithful seems to be possessed by evil electrical demons, maybe an exorcism will sort it, but more likely a component replacement, if only I knew where to look.

Hi guys, I want to change the rear tyre of my YBR 125, it's way too thin and I want to get a wider one. I will change the rear tyre and put in in the front, buying a new tyre for the back. What is the maximum size you think I can get? I tried a 100/90 and it fits, do you think a 110/90 will fit or it's too large for the rim?

  16. Seasons greetings, peeps! Was wandering there was some 'murican friendos out there who could help me with shipping... Been on the US Ebay and found a set of fork legs which I need to get my new chappy up and running, but the guy won't ship internationally :(, was wondering if there was anyone out there who could act as an intermediate and take delivery of these forks and forward them on to me?. I'm out in Arizona for a final piss up next year before I leave the services, but kinda want to get it done before then. Beer tokens will be awarded ofc!

I'm selling my SR250 to a friend, but we want to fix or at least understand a certain issue first. Problem: When going at near-maximum speed, motor starts couching and eventually goes out. The top-speed has gone from 120 to 80 during the last 4 months. First fix (not counting changing the oil): Today I was opening the case of the air filter for the first time, and I was expecting a black, nasty foam that needs mineral spirits to clean it or replacement. When I opened the case, I was very surprised to see, that there's no foam!? (see attached picture) Just a simple round net, that looks like it's there for holding a foam filter was there. Maybe it's becaus…

Hey, just trying to order some nuts and bolts for the Aprilia and got myself in a cunfuxed state. I know bikes are nominally metric fine, but! I don't actually know what that is . Im seeing 0.8 coarse, 0.8 fine etc. But then there is 1.0 and 1.25 also in both coarse and fine. Feels a stupid question but what do I actually want. I have just got generic catchall kits for UJM in the past, never really thought about what metric fine was as such. I have all the big stuff, its all the abused and random or just plain missing bodywork and plastic mounting stuff I'm after. Not all that much maybe 20 units all told all like, 30x6 and 20x6 flanged hex's, with…

Hi I have recently bought a Yamaha r6 2003 plate. When I got it home after a couple of days the bike wouldn't start. It was like the battery had gone. I replaced the battery and it was working fine. I then gave the bike a wash and went to start it and it was just clicking. I know it's a new battery but any idea what else it could be? Thanks mario
