Hey everybody, I have been gifted an xj900f to go along side my xj6n by my other half's dad however there is a slight snag! Now here is the awkward part for me, he has not ridden the bike for the best part of 9 years which does not phase me but he has no recollection of where the v5 is & if he ever declared it worn due to a health issue, the bike is in good condition and to me it would be nice to get it back to full health & I can learn a trick or two along the way. Does anybody know how I can get a log book without landing him in it for it not being sorn or without a massive cost? Thanks for any advice as I don't know where to start. Shaun

Hi all, I own two Yamaha TT600's, one in rebuild the other running....well hmm sort of....anyway my issue is this, the bike starts easy, idles perfect but when going over 60km's per hour or when you start gunning it, the bike changes completely, she starts backfiring and gosh knows what else ....it really sounds like a timing issue when you rev itr high... Changed the following : CDI,coil, stator, carbs.....to no avail, i cannot understand this problem...building engines is a walk in the park but this bike is killing me lol Any comments would be highly appreciated.. evening guys im after some info and pointers on fitting an aftermarket exhaust(currently looking at a termignoni)thais particular brand comes in 3 decibels the higher the decibel the cheaper the exhaust it seems..ranging from 80db to 102db. my finances dictates getting the cheaper louder one so what are the implications of a 102 db exhaust, will it be stupidly loud getting me unwanted blue light attention? is 102db road legal or will I need to fit the standard one when ever its due for mot? also taking out the db killer..good or bad idea? thanks guys )

I have a 61 plate YBR which has just started hunting between 1000-2000 rpm and then stalls. Any idea what can cause this? My local dealer has never heard of this happening before. It has done 530 miles from new and has always been garaged when not in use. Any help will be gratefully received.

hello all, The warm days are coming and the rundown xvs i bought last year is finally getting some attention besides turning the engine over once every few days. Got to the back wheel, and it was so seized there was no way to get it of without wrecking the swing arm. after days of fruitless effort penetrating oil soaking and bashings I decided to just cut the spindle/axle and finally get it out. then replace it. examining the spindle, there was NO way this would of come out without cutting it, its rusted solid. MY QUESTION IS: Between the two centre wheel bearings, there is a wide spacer (about 3" long) which is rusted tight to the spindle, this appears to b…

Hello everyone, need abit of advice on where to get a decent plate made up, this may sound silly but I have ordered 2 off eBay and both are shocking quality. I'm unsure weather to go for 8x6 or the standard size (so far have ordered standard sizes) but fancy a smaller one now, what are the chances of being stopped & in your honest opinion is it worth the risk?? Would a slogan on the bottom also cause any issue's? Nothing crude but I know technically not meant to have them. Cheers for any help guys & gals Shaun

Hi peeps. Im sure im opening myself up to a barrage of "whatever you pay for it when your pissed foamy!" posts, but is there any specific guideline value for scrap bikes? Reason being the MC club at Cosford has recently started up again and there is F1 CBR600 Hurricane sat in the storage shed in pretty rough shape with flat tyres, no front fairing e.t.c and they've asked me to sort it out with the registered owner who has since left the services or they will have it scrapped. ideally i was going to break it for parts but am wondering what sort of price i may be looking at for it. cars tend to be £100/tonne at scrapyards but i cant seem to find any reference to mo…

I'm nearly finished rebuilding my XS850 set in a 750 frame. I didn't touch the clutch outside of removing the cable, as it worked perfectly with full travel and play when I bought the bike and I had made no change to the mechanical pin adjustment. Problem is, cable routed and re-attached, I can't get the clutch to disengage. I did pull the motor, left it wet and upright during the frame off resto (3 months), and did have it lying on it's left side on a garage rug for roughly an hour as I slipped the frame back over and mounted it back up. The cable has full travel. I have played with both the motor and lever linkage adjustments as well as the mechanical adjustment (b…

Hi, Michael here i am new to bikes and have got myself DT125R and was wondering what would be the right oils to use. I have got myself a Haynes manual which recommends a Yamaha air cooled 2T oil, however doesn't mention if it should be fully syntheic or not / premix so didn't know where to start. I would also like the know about the Motor oil tank at the front of the bike and if this should be the same oil as the engine oil which is recommended SAE 10w30 SE. Another note would be should i stick to the recommended oils or is there a better alternative?

Had my ybr 125 3 months now, really enjoying it, but I'm mechanically useless, to the extent that I can't even work out how to remove the toolkit from its little box. I could probably yank it out but then might not be able to get it back in, without damaging the rubber holder thing. Also any tips on cleaning and basic maintenance welcome.

I bought a highway hawk sissy bar for my 125 dragstar off eBay, came nicely with instructions as to what side was what. I was trying to install today but the wouldn't go, my Allen bolts are just too small to go through the chrome stip and the metal brackets. Where so I get some longer ones from ?
