Can I remove rimlocks for innertube on a DT175mx rim as its a counterweight effect and really bounces. I only ride on road. Will the grommet hold the tube in?

  8. Started by wild foamy,

Hey peeps. Picked up another addition to the fleet a couple of weeks ago, a little QT50 I found on the auto jumble at the Dorset Steam Fair, in my drunken logic I decided it needed to come home. Needed a new set of tyres and the brakes fettling (even after cleaning and roughing up the drums, the rear brake would only put out 27%, the MOT requirement was 25%), nevertheless it did eventually pass. So it now has a fresh 12 month ticket, I use it for riding around on the airbase when I'm at work, the top box is large enough for small aircraft spares or a crate of beer and it has "No Fat Chicks" written on the back in permanent marker So far nobody has …

  9. Started by Cynic,

Ok, i was bored. I'm half looking for a Vmax, not all that hard but still looking. Oddly, proper utter shite (normally non full power) is 2-3k and 5k mile minters are around 5. Go figure? Anyway i got to wondering , (because the wife said i can't have both, but my leg issues are getting worse and highway pegs are getting a very attractive prospect) just how daft prices are for mine. OMG, garbage is up for around 3, a uk bike is up for 7, that's SEVEN grand. And its got issues, chief amongst them its the truly horrid and globally hated harlequin paint job. Look, the cheeky sod, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-TDR250-Classic-Bike/263448113722?hash=…

Yesterday a van turned up bringing a pressy to myself 😎 Younger version of the one I got with only 16.5K miles on the clock. FJ-1200 3XW That also means that the 3CV is on the market.

  11. Good Evening, I picked up a 1972 G7S a few weeks back and trying to awaken it from its slumber. Electrically, I have cleaned all the connections and have everything working off a brand new battery except the headlamp. I read in an older post (Sacha's) that the headlamp circuit is powered by the magneto, and not the battery (similar to a DT). I have a rectifier, and no voltage regulator that I can find. The headlamp is intact. If that is the case, I will finish cleaning the gas tank, oil tank (shall I flush it with mineral spirits?) and order a carb kit and get this running. It has good compression and spark, so will sort the fuel side out. Thank you…

I have a wire hanging from the engine (YDS5) which I believe is for the neutral light (Light blue) and have no idea where it should go as I have looked over and under the engine, here are some photos. Also can anybody help me out on a tachometer cable as one did not come with the bike like any measurements: Outer cable tip to tip length and outer cable fittings required – usually female threaded spinning fittings on the outers. Inner cable tip to tip length, and the square section size at both ends of the inner (May be same both ends) Thanks

  14. Started by Cynic,

I know it's quiet on here now but the people I'm asking will still be popping in. As title. As father time and a mispent youth catch up I want to reduce the stress on my wrists and reducing the physical twist on the throttle would be a big help. There is everything from 40 quid specials to gold plated 500 quid tat for the posurs. There are a few in the 100 to 150 quid range that have an ajustable ratio that seems like a good idea. Anybody used something like this.

Sorry if this comes up all the time from new riders! I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the first bike after gaining full license? At the moment the most advice I have had is 'Buy whatever you want, something shiny that looks nice and you will learn from there' - which I think is pretty sound. At the moment options I am considering are: MT-07 or 09 XJ6 FZ6 S2 (2009/10 I think) - Really like the design of this bike, but not sure how easy it is to find. If anyone has any strong opinions about any of these let me know
