Hello everyone. New guy Bruce here. I'm trying to get the wife's '73 CT3 175cc back on the road after years of garage storage. When I "prime the pump" (put fuel in the cylinder through the plug hole) it will start and run as long as the RPMs are kept above idle. Don't know the RPM needed, the tach doesn't work. It seems to run just fine all through the gears & at all speeds but she will not idle & will not re-start when shut off. I've cleaned the carb as best I could w/carb cleaner aerosol. Am having great difficulty finding a rebuild kit or new carb on the net. Any idea? Part sources? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi guys I have been running my "new" 1975 dt175 and it runs pretty good. Hard to start it at time but overall pretty good. Since I am no mechanic I want to take it for a checkup. Does anyone in the forum know of a mechanic in Vancouver I can take it to? Somebody that understands these bikes. I called a local garage they they were quick to tell me it was expensive to fix old bikes, but I am thinking for somebody with experience these bikes are pretty simple. Any ideas welcome Cheers Alex

Found one for sale not far from me, wondered if anyone on here has any experience of them? It looks pretty sweet to me but I've only ever seen a few sketchy videos on YouTube and 1 other for sale. Would it be a worthwhile investment perhaps?

Having spent several hours cleaning my bike I thought now was a good time to post a picky or two of her. Pretty much stock apart from the Cobra slip ons, saddle bags, back rest for me as I'm an old git, USB charger, phone bracket and because I'm a short arse I've dropped end by 2.5 ".

Hiya peeps. I've had my FJ1200 ABS for almost a month now, and it's a cracking bike, reminds me of when that crazy texan guy was riding the nuclear bomb in the film Dr Strangelove. But anyway, I've just changed the clutch master and slave cylinder seals, sorted out the dodgy wiring that made the headlight flicker and a few other bits and pieces, but theres a few things left to do; Dashboard lamps, I'm sure only one of them is working because I can't see my fuel gauge, clock or speedo below 90mph at night, what size and type of bulb do I need?. The speedometer face is loose within the dashboard, you can see it rattling around in there, how can I get the clu…

What are your thoughts,I have heard people complaining about parts and qualitly after net purchasing. I don't use the net to get parts,I use the local shops 2 reasons 1 help keep the doors open 2 if thier is a problem they will be seeing me in person when I have a problem. But honestly the guys I deal with are that good that I never have a problem, and price wise they are right in line with any deal on the net.Any bill I get also gets 10% knocked off sticker price with out asking, end of year gear I have got at cost or less Tires at 15% over cost They can get almost anything in a day or less. Even the local Yam dealer is not that bad price wise and only charge 10 bu…

I'm a newbie and adjusted the chain on my yamaha ybr125 which should be simple. But after starting the bike and putting it into 1st, I found the clutch doesn't work when pulled in.The clutch was fine before and there's no problem with the cable. Anyone got any ideas why?

Hey So I took the carb apart, replaced the O ring, the needle valve set and the gasket. I cleaned it up well with carburetor cleaner. Put it back together and now my bike start with choke and one kick. The thing is that the RPMs are really high and if I try to push the choke back in, the rpms get out of control. This doesn't make sense to me since I thought that when you pull the choke out is when you engage it and a richer mixture of gas goes in. For a moment I thought the accelerator cable was caught on something or too tight to I loosened it, but nothing. I tried playing with the air intake and the idle but no luck . And I followed the direction on the …

Good evening, I've recently purchased a 2013 YZF 250, brilliant bike, can not fault it. A few friends have told me that my bike seems small compared to their 250's, I took no notice of it until tonight, I had nothing better to do so I decided d get the tape measure out and take a measurement for myself, my seat height turnt out to be 36 1/2 inches and my ground clearance was around 12 inches. I done some research over the Internet to find the stock 2013 YZF 250 should be 39 inches as the seat height and 14 inch ground clearance, correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I found. I measured the ground clearance by myself so it's not bang on accurate. Anybody know how to rais…

I've been on the look out for a cdi unit for a while as the one I have on my second bike is a restricted version from Germany (long story) anyway they normally go for around £50 to maybe £80 pounds I got one off ebay with a spare engine and other stuff for £70, I was well chuffed the guy nearly fell over when I said was only really after the cdi and would have paid him £50 just for thathttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281622978341?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I have this day dream issue I'm not rich but constantly think of other bikes It is a nuisance because there really is not anything wrong with the bike I have I think it might be a general motorbike thing, For a long time it was a fazer 600, the early box eye one until I finally realised it was not for me, now it is an old xj900 pre diversion, been looking for months, but At least these are still yamahas. The grass is not always greener in any event so I do not know why I do it.

no not new bikes, just keeping the existing (old) one running, had a load of repairs done a few months ago and now i have started using my 25 yr old machine more again with the weather improving somewhat, well temperatures anyway, and straight away i'm into a replacement silencer and replacement brake switch plus another service will be required soon. Also got our boy's bike to sort/pay for as he is still a student, not that i mind particularly, his (old) bike has a gear selection issue (actually I will just be glad if it is fixable), an oil cooler leak and one of the heated grips gone awol - dear oh dear. i don't recall my old toyota costing…

I've grown well accustomed to seeing Red Light Jumping [RLJ] cyclists while on the road. Those total and utter turd monkeys, who think the laws don't apply to them and are a statistic waiting to happen. This morning, there was an interesting outcome from one. As he flew past a red light perpendicular to a motorway on-ramp [where cars would very likely be accelerating up to 70mph...], he caused the car on one side of him, and the lorry [that was blocking his view of traffic that would be joining the motorway] to think the red light had changed, and they jumped the light too. It's only sheer luck that there was no carnage involved. For those that may know the area …

Greetings, I recently moved to the UK from Spain and brought over my scooter, a 2007 X-Max 250. It's been a member of the family for six years, so selling or leaving it behind wasn't an option. Shortly after the arrival it was serviced and MOT'ed with no issues, but as I was preparing the documents for DVLA, it turned out I don't have the motor number. I've gone through the service manual and didn't see any indication of where to look for it. I then spent about half an hour kneeling in various positions, then took the whole seat unit off to get a better look, but still wasn't able to find an identification plate or stamp to give me this data. I also don't know the…
