  1. Its wet because of my own mistake, i accidentley knocked the fuel tap switch and it spurted fuel over everything for a second haha
  2. i just ordered a new condensor/points repair kit. with the capacitor i suspected it before, because it was slightly wet with a fuel or oil, would this short it?
  3. i checked out the points and there in good nick
  4. magneto condensor
  5. hey guys im in! i made it through after all that what a found was a generally pretty grimy scene but most noticebly a badly dented condensor, apart from the condensor though i dont really know what im looking for, any ideas/tests? ill upload photos soon
  6. Gday guys so I recieved the flywheel puller, but it is the flywheel cover's centre nut that is doing my head in. i just cant get it off, i dont have one of the chain pullers nor do i know where to get one, does anyone have any other methods of its removal?
  7. Just ordered that flywheel puller
  8. Are these available at most bike shops? Just one point i thought i should mention ive done this 12 volt conversion successfully (i think) as in all the lights run well of it. when kicking it over, though theres no spark visible, as it turns the metre backing lamp and headlamp turn on this seems to indicate some power?
  9. Thanks guys i removed the flywheel cover and could not see a spark. to check further i went to remove the main nut covering the magneto but its near impossible to unlodge because it just turns the chain with it. Any advice?
  10. Also, the bike came with a range of "spares" for dt 175's. im curious as to what this is It looks like a condensor in some ways, but i just dont know
  11. Gday, when i purchased this bike it ran rough, but did run consistently. no upon trying to start i cannot get a spark. the electrics are all working, and the spark plugs have been replaced. I know the condensor can be the cause of this problem but are there any other things that impact it? ignition timing etc? If so a little guidance on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated
  12. Thanks for the feedback, i have removed it before but it appears to serve a functional purpose as it extends into the exhaust with a grated pipe that i assume acts a filter of some kind?
  13. Gday im customising/rebuilding a battered old yamaha. Its exhaust works well but unlike most other dt models ive seen its silencer bends downwards as seen the photo. This i would like to change for solely aesthetic reasons This i was wondering if this can be changed, or what the effect of slicing it off as done by this person with a yamaha dt 250 would be
  14. haha very confusing! thanks for all your help though. Ive looked around and havent found any AG specific wiring diagrams and advice on which DT diagram i should use then?
  15. I just checked it against this model listing http://home.comcast....Model_codes.pdf And it says its 1974 AG175 I guess now my question is whats the difference between AGs and DTs?
  16. Sorry for the late reply I got the code wrong it turns out its 482010175 not 0 so that probably changes it dramatically, i thought i better double check when you said it might be a 125 haha. i could see the displacement indication at the base of the cylinder but i may just be blind.
  17. 402010175 is its frame number how do you discern it with that?
  18. really? haha they mysterious barn find. what do you think it is?
  19. Yeah its locked in place at position three
  20. okay thanks. yeah its OFF 1, 2, 3 strangely it does not have on on/off for the lights only a dim/high beam control. I thought this was because it turned automatically as the engine ran thanks for your help This is the bike thus far by the way, still clearing rust away from when i got it.
  21. Gday im currently working on getting a DT 175 back to its roadworthy self however im having some technical issues with the electrics. I have the original service manual which doesnt offer much assistance in the lighting department. This is my first project and im 17 from Australia. ive rewired the indicators to work, the horn works the neutral and indicator meter bulbs work. BUT the headlight and general meter lamp do not. the Brake light has a bulb blown which i am replacing but the Headlamp and meter lamp are both functioning when given power directly. My question is has anyone had this problem before and if so any tips? Or is the blown brake light obstructing the current to the headlamp? Thankyou for your help
