  1. The big problem for me with that section is that once you have looked at an item its gone. If it was faded or some such like it used to when we had a 'new content' page but now when your brain has had a chew on the problem you cannot find it to post the answer unless you noted the section and the title. Otherwise your stuffed. Makes answering problems tricky unless it comes instantly to mind. You end up thinking, "meh! when it comes up again", surely that is a bad design.

Vehicle dismantlers. Old bikes don't vanish. The lucky ones get cherished as classics or rekindle the owners lost youth. Most though get scrapped. Just before they get to the bin there is always a little magpie buying up the worthwhile parts to sell on. They are the breakers. Breaking bikes down to their parts and selling them on. Used to be in decent lumps like engines or a complete fork assy. Now they break down every nut and bolt.
  3. Not sure they were actually road legal either.
  4. Its Johns get up that makes me laugh... .
  5. They don't give a f about my truck either,
  6. Yep me too. Just a dice roll as to what i can get. Get the same Ex2 code.
  7. Yep, fact of riding these days, diet of Grand theft auto I think. You will get a feel for the idiots and after a while get pretty good at spotting them, and ultimately making them look like what they are. Otherwise this simple rule from my dad has kept me shiny side up. "Expect the worst coming the other way at all times unless you can see otherwise, at every junction, every bend , dip and crest." Could be considered pessimistic but that very thought saved me from slamming into the back of a tractor. As a result I swear by it.
  8. Depends on how much wattage and are they running lights or extra high beam power. Personally I would build a separate sub loom powered directly from the battery with a specific fuse and a dedicated relay, secured in a relatively vibe/heat/water free area of the bike. Check either in the lighting switchgear or behind the headlight for the particular feed you need, be it sidelights, main etc. Then use that circuit to trigger the relay and run the cable to wherever the lights are at the front of the bike, max reliability that way and the lights should not overload the bike as the battery will pick up the slack. The numpty way is to piggyback straight into the respective circuit with extra load, not recommended.
  9. 'I heard its a 250 one.' Sarcasm? Yes, but only by example. You have given as much information in your question as I have in my reply. Please, we are not psychic, were just people who like bikes and want to help people out and have a laugh, one line questions are for google. Feel free to use the intro section so say hi and let us know your plans, even start a build thread in the projects area, that will get you help on all aspects and normally save cash on parts, even get parts through members. The op, mine may be the only reply.

    Dull way round.

Ok, I was talking to a biker at one of my deliveries. Proud as punch of his Iron butt achievements like riding from the midlands, down on the m5 to the 50, across to the m4 back to the m25, take the long way round then up the a1 till you hit the 62, across to the m6 back to the start. Called the four corners apparently. Done in under 24hrs, apparently (if I remembered the route) over 1000miles in under 24 hrs. I admire the sheer mental strength to do something so utterly soul destroying. I'm not being underhand I told him it sounded massively fucking boring and he agreed, he said it was the guys with him that made it great, which is what motorcycles is about really.
  11. Oh, not that's not it, you have mentioned that part. Op said the unmentioned part which obviously isn't that is it.
  12. Huh. Power is a product of resistance, current and voltage. So all 3 affect the speed....

Expensive pain in the arse that's epic for pub runs on a hot sunny day. That about covers it, servicing is rated in hours and that's Italian hours too, as close to supermoto road racer as you can get. Makes my TDR look like an FJ
  14. As said, comparable to the RD. But is essential sportier than the RD. Loses out power wise to the TZR quite badly, hence the RGV that replaced it which aces the TZR on power but pays for it in extreme engine behaviour and race track reliability. It will need work far more often than the FZ but you can get 15K from a set of pistons, more if you change the rings early enough. I would suggest unless you have history a strip down for a lookie see would be worthwhile, would have saved me a rebuild. As you could be lucky like I was and have it only affect the upper cyl, if you lose a piston skirt into the cases its the full banana strip and rebuild.
  15. Gamma is ok, comparable to the Rd if ridden right. Its the RGV that has the pv falling out of the cyl head.
  16. Hey people, happy new year one and all. Ride safe and I hope to see you about.. J
  17. The power rush of a 70's 750 matched by the 80's 250. That's progress, 2016 600's are not 60% better than the 2006 bikes. We need another R1 moment.
  18. Sure? There is only 25mm diff in the seat height to your FZ. yep, gets going at 6 ish and all finished by 9500, unless they have been tweaked but that is not always good. Like TDR250 stock cranks are only good to 60hp if in really good fettle. Set of pipes, pv remap and a filter will get you that.
  19. yep, falls off fast, read gone as fast as it arrives. Resist the temptation to flog it to the last rpm and shift before the power dies, its also good practice as modern fuel makes the bike much, much, more likely to hole a piston. I recommend non ethanol fuels. Its all I put in mine. (you save the extra in mpg oddly). Lol, yeah I'm 6ft2 and its a squeeze for me.
  20. Gamma isn't too bad apart from being tiny and spectacularly uncomfortable unless your just as tiny, obviously they are even better with a 350 on board. Its the RGV that really takes the piss, eating its self at random intervals. Just the std stay 1000rpm off the red line unless you really need it, don't choke it with 4stroke/car driving attitudes and actively strive to upset bigger bikes, that last one is law, honest.

But, wtf, bu! Your not fitting THAT are you. Awww, I was expecting the old ig mount reamed for a little lcd spedo maybe. Something subtle, something clever, a little, 'is that a...?'; ' well I would never have!' like the rest of the bike. I'm waiting for someone to have a phone app for their dash, so the bars are totally clear, have say a clear wallet on your forearm to hold your phone with the stuff you need to know, chuck on a basic bracket for the mot man once a year. Sorry only my view the bike is really classy, proper mods, not bolt on tat. Inspiring if I may, not many people brave enough to chop up a tr1, bet there are some purists in tears.
  22. Merlin jackets. Daventry Suzuki have them on the peg, try one on. Looks like a regular jacket is utterly waterproof (now tested) and very warm not to mention being the most comfortable bike jacket I have ever had. Leather, textile or otherwise. They have taken the old Belstaff waxcotton process and use it with Kevlar weave. Not pennies and they may be online but when it comes to bike clothing trying a few on on a bike (preferably mine) to be sure its comfortable is important, for me at least. Suppose you could go away and internet it but that's why shops are closing. In Bugbrooke btw, may see you at the bike nights at Jacks Hill? Easy spot, not another TDR250 for 50 odd miles, maybe more
  23. Well there you go, miracles can happen at Christmas......
  24. Weak battery maybe, fuel pressure is the problem, check the pump would be my choice because that's what my car did and it stopped with a new fuel filter.
