Hello Chupo

Are you thinking of a hardtail or soft tail? If you hardtail a XS400 they tend to have a cramped riding position if you do not put some stretch in the rear (also depends on your height). If you keep the rear suspension you can still get some extra leg room but lower your ride by fitting shorter suspension units and shortening your forks.

Try http://www.bratstyle.com/ (look in Custom Gallery) for ideas on soft tails or http://www.short-cut.nl/ for some XS400 ideas.

Also try the search facility on http://www.jockeyjournal.com/ for info on hardtailing Japanese bikes and http://www.thefont.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/bikes/index.htm for some good stuff on electrics and frame mods.

Good luck

are those guys just doing away with their batteries? (i'm really new to bikes) so... if you don't electric start you don't need one? wont your headlight dim everytime you hit the brake?

NO. You still need battery, but starting is easier and you'll have enough power to run a truck.

New bikes like a Yamasaki ( my brother owns two of them) don't need battery because their charger is "magnetic" not electrical.

ha.. ok! thanks for clearing that up.. i wonder where they're putting they're batts... cause one is a 81 xs 400 on there and no batter to be seen.. tricky tricky little bastards!
