fluid in my exhaust

hi all ..

i changed the piston and rings after doing this the bike would not start so was left for a few days when takeing the head back off to see if i had made a mistake i removed the exhaust and it was very full of a black like fluid if any body could tell me what i have done wrong or what the problem may be would really be appreciated ...lilderv

You said it was "full of". Was it just damp or was there enough that it was pooled on the piston? If it is pooled then it probably isn't condensation.

Did it smell like gas? Years ago I had a 15 hp Briggs & Straton engine cylinder fill with gas when the float stuck. It had sat for a while and the gas leaked into the crank case also. I had a similar problem last fall with a portable generator while hunting.

OOOooppps...Misread the post. On rereading the post I see that the fluid was in the exhaust not the cylinder. Obviously I need new glasses. :D

sorry for very slow reply was in a rough patch and bike was pushed 2 the side but now i have sum change in my pocket i want 2 get her back on the road ......

i did fit new gasket at both ends of the barel didnt use torques as i only have a crummy socket set :S i have since fitted another piston and rings as sum 1 told me it may be the wrong one,i put her back together and she would not start i have fule compression and spark .. its wants 2 fire but dosent i have changed cdi,reg/rectifier,coil and ht,3 new plugs,starter relay, and a lil white box on the back witch i was told was a ignition box is there something els it could be ?.......thanks for the help so far !!!! lilderv......
