yamahaman2
hey guys new here, i have a 78 xs400. the carb boot vacuum nipples are connected to each other with tubing that is pinched off. this seems incorrect, anyone care to help? wondering how they should be connected because my idle is rough and my accelaration is nill. HoughMade
They should be blocked off, capped, unless you are using the original vacuum petcock. If you are, one should have a vacuum line to the petcock, the other should be capped. As for your rough idle. Clean the carbs well, then balance them...and you can't balance them if they are connected.

HoughMade
Sorry, I never have. You may want to start a new topic or jump into one that deals with the stator, otherwise, the people who know may not look in this topic. Good luck!
