this may be a warrantee issue, did the dealer inspect it? did he fit the parts for you, for free? might be worth emailing Yam UK and drawing their attention to it.
-
Brilliant!! Thanks. Yeah thats all the damage so i have got off lightly, just a shock to hear it fall!! Probably will put a new one on. Pattern?? not yamaha made but the same, is that what it means??
yeah pattern is the same nomenclature and material but not made by yamaha. some pattern parts are better than OEM some are worse.

one question. did you buy it from a trader/dealer? if yes, this is surely their responsibility to rectify. if you did then you need to return to them asap.
-
get better soon, dude. heres hoping for a better new year for you!
-
hey thats back luck, and on christmas too.
the lever is an easy swap. if your bike is veru new why dont you put genuine yamaha lever on, iirc they aint much dearer than pattern.
is that the only damage (and the bobins), if yes then you have got off lightly, tho im sure you are still pretty pissed.
this might make you feel a bit better, even if it is schadenfreude:

and from me too, have good one ladies'n'gents

guess your gunna have to disconnect the exup cables from the original can and just secure them out of the way or remove them completely. You may need to fit a power commander to compensate.

It may be, i dunno for sure but all i can say for certain is when my bandit gets started up in spring following a winter lay off its rough as a bears untill its been run to hot, you can barely open the throttle without it cutting out, After that; its absolutely fine. That condensation needs to be all burned off or you have water in your oil and engine, not good!!
Why rush to the dealers now if its laid up, see how it is when you resurrect it in spring.
if you start your bike up after a long lay-up and it won't take any throttle, thats a sure sign the petrol has gone-off. Might be worth chucking some fuel conditioner in before you stow the bike away.
modern unleaded goes off real quick, bikes are uber-sensitive to this.

Hi There,
This is my first time doing this,so here goes my name is Karl i live in Rotherham,South Yorkshire.I've just taken delivery of my brand new 08'R6 and what a beauty she is,got it in red, black and white and in the near future having it painted up in the santander haga replica paint scheme.
I'm after getting an aftermarket exhuast fitted and was wondering if anyone out there had any advice on which one would be the best choice to go for regarding performance and sound.
Regards
Karl.
sorry to sound like a tosser, but make sure you notify your insurance of this as the last thing you want is them refusing to pay out after it is nicked and recovered (lets hope not) with a non-standard paint job. It could add a fair whack to the insurance!

i know exactly what you mean. for years my alarm clock has woken me up with my local bbc radio station (radio bristol), which has a breakfast show consisting of local 'news'. However a couple of months ago, it occured to me that stories about trees being chopped down (to local opposition), pubs that closing (to local opposition) or pubs that are opening (to local opposition!) isnt really important. What gets me is they would chat for an hour about weston-s-ms pier burning down and speak to dozens of talking heads but get nowhere. The final straw was when i woke up to the sound of my deputy-head speaking on the radio (that was a head-fukc, thought i was dreaming!)
I tend to avoid the news mostly (though i do read world news in the times at work).
Wake up to gold radio now - music far better.

my $0.02, id be looking at something shaft drive as just a couple of trips could do a chain, and it means you dont have to adjust it etc. id want something which has a range of luggage readily available and most importantly is reliable. Maybe a BMW twin tourer?
engine capacity isnt the issue, comfort, practically and reliability are vital

I guess these are Maxxis tyres? if it is, i personally wouldnt put them on an R6. Buy something better, dont skimp on the footwear!

No not yet, I think that is the way I have to go too, the thing that concerns me is that if I disconnect the fuel hose and reconnect it with an air lock in the fuel injection system it may do some damage to the pump as I think they operate at quite a high PSI pressure, there could be a bleed screw or valve to open on the pump to let the air out until fuel flows out.
Unless the pump is in the tank in which case the bike will not start until the fuel has been pumped down the tube through the injector and into the engine. (This I think could be OK.)
There must be someone on here with some mechanical knowledge it is a case of them reading this then replying .I hope.
iv never heard of a fuel pump being killed by an airlock (not petrol anyway). The fuel pump just raises the pressure (with a lttle lift maybe from an nearly-empty tank), you cant burn the fuel pump out cos if it wont deliver fuel, the bike wont run! The injection side is probably 42.5psi 2.5bar, and air in there will result in a little lumpiness or a stall, but will soon get pushed through.
Diesel pumps need priming, petrol does not have this problem.

these are brill goff - cheers.
