  1. steve, for that aithentic look you'll have to ride it with a leon trotsky/steve biko/CCCP t-shirt!

proper bit of socialist history - you were born after all this matter though!

great bikes btw, but as ^^^ dont compare it to jap stuff!

  2. And aint you cute *hubba hubba* ;)

lol, im going bald fast, and it really shows!

Actually, I'm quite suprised, and pleased to see someone 'down south' who isn't falling apart because of a bit of precipitation. Have another go when it's had chance to thaw, freeze, thaw and re-freeze - that sorts the men out from the boys!!

This was the second wave so the first lot was frozen underneath. I had to eat a lot of humble-pie, as my mate has had tons of 4x4s and iv always taken the piss, but it went up a 1:4 incline, that a lot of cars find hard in the dry.

  3. i know those of you up'nath wont see this as a big deal, but down her 6 foot snow drift are rare as rockin horse dung.

my mate who rides a divvy has a jeep today we went up onto the hills near bristol, his jeep amazed me going up icy 1:4 inclines

check out these pics, iv never seen the area like this:

  4. Hey Goff, i know what your thinking, iv got the new Zx6 and im trying to get into the routine of wiping the bike down after a ride.

Trying to run it in with care, as its quite peaky im trying not to slog the engine. wont be a prob with a custom.

  5. there is already 2 threads

    1 is called

" the best yamaha of all time "

    other

    " the worst "

    k thx

    Shokz, this is about looks.

i think the RD250LC has a classic look, that is timeless. The GTS1000 looks hitech even now.

the worst is the YB100, just never looked right to me.

  6. Just had half of my new tat done last night. I would have liked it finished but he didnt have enough time so i've had to settle for half! Rest will be done mid Feb . Its going to come all the way up my leg to my thigh and needs colour. Im running out of skin now

    Ooooh! Goff u tease!

    Forum Pin-up 2009, surely? lol

  7. a big factor is that car drivers are very disengaged from the environment they are in. Hence why we call them 'cagers'. I drive a car most of the time and with heater, radio, other distractions, the 'cell' of the car creates a remotness. Bikes are almost the oppsite, we are very immersed in our environment and we do not have that cellular protection. the governement should make CBTs compulsory for all learner car drivers before they can take the test.

  8. welcome to the forum!

great bike, shame urs is giving u probs!

maybe you should speak to your local trading standards or citizens advice to find out your exact position. You could try calling consumer direct too. If it isnt fit for purpose you may grounds to reject it.

    good luck

  9. BMW 2002 touring is a nice small car circa 1970

    ford escort MK 1 2 or 3

ford cortina Mk1 (pricey especially in Lotus form)

Sunbeam Alpines series 1 to 5 ('59 to '67) I restored one, lovely car. could get one cheap

all these could be on classic insurance

steve probably wont be able to get classic insurance as he is a young 'un!

  10. £2700? no way Steve you must be mad!!!

like ^ said a mini is a great choice, my mate collects em, the amount of bits you can get for them is amazing.

if i was in your shoes id get an old fiat panda! (of course staying on bikes for a few years would be better!!!)

  11. cant you just take it to a general motor engineer? i live 5 mins from piston broke engineering, but the guy is too dear, i take specialist jobs like that to a motor engineering shop the otherside of the city - even cheaper!

  12. picked up my new zx6r today. My old man gave me a lift to pick it up from swindon, rode it back - runnning in so tried not to rev it hard.

Lovely weather, handles sweetly, makes my FZR1000 feel so primative, but then i knew it would. Looks great will post a pick soon!

  13. A few things you will need to take:

Bulb & Fuse Kit (a legal requirement on the continent)

First Aid Kit (a common sense requirement)

Spare fuel in a can or two (fuel stations in France are few and far between and most kick up a fuss if you try and use an English credit or debit card, plus they are unmanned so you cannot pay cash). I usually carry two or three 500ml jerry cans.

Tyre Weld and/or mushroom repair kit (Last thing you need is to be calling 'Le AA' unless you can pinpoint exactly where you are)

Spare Throttle & Clutch cables (trying to source parts in France can be a nightmare)

A small tool kit - small screwdrivers, spanners, electrical tape, C spanner, cable ties (never underestimate the importance of elec tape and cable ties :D)

Plenty of Visor Cleaner and cloths (I use Shell foaming aerosol Visor Spray, truly wonderful stuff)

Emergency mobile phone charger (I have one that is powered by 4 AAA batteries and it really is a godsend)

Barclaycard (I have found that this is the only credit card that works in the continent, well most of the time)

Apart from that, you really must make sure you have fully comprehensive health cover for your trip as there is no NHS in France so everything will have to be paid for before they let you leave the hospital. Make sure your credit card has plenty of room on it just in case.

with the healthcare thing make sure you have EHIC, it replaced the E111. You should still get decent insurance, but it provide cover under the 'reciprocal agreement'.

Ive always travelled with lots of spare carrier bags and bin liners. great as an additional waterproof layer and for bagging stuff up. pulled tight can be used as 'rope'. Remember a decent tape to protect plastics, do make shift repairs etc (a small roll of insulation tape is good).
