Hey all, my R6 has developed a rattle on tick over, it sounds like a you are shaking a bolt in an empty tin can (probably not as quite as bad as that to be fair)! As soon as the revs pick up it goes it's just on idle? It's difficult to say exactly where it's coming from but is certainly not affecting the riding or performance.
Any ideas? hi there/ sounds like small end bearing . but get a pro. to listen to it . will run like that for awhile.
wudna panic.

That add reply didn't work lol,
Took engine casing off to look at clutch assembly, firstly notice arrow on front plate was pointing in wrong direction (not good start) havent removed plates yet to see if thier aligned properly, its the clutch lifter itself that bothers me, it pulls straight out of engine too easy ? should there not be something retaining it in position even if this was just a seal or something it just seems too open to let water and muck in for my likeing, ?
yes mate / get urself a manual ,study it first to see the way it all fits. then strip down clutch .
usually all the same principal [cable~pushrod~presure plate . .ok.

thanx for the reply /& ur rite on bout smell of "R". THEM YUNG BIKERS out there gota sample it .http://www.ar-sheldon.com/acatalog/Castrol..._Gear_Oils.htmlLovely smell, used to put a bit in my c70 petrol tank when i was a youth.
-
hi / great reply ,wot a hive of knowlage u hav. i also mind the smell at motox meetings 1970s . gona put some in my dt.400 . arriving shortly 4m the states. thanx.Castrol R can be bought or ordered from any Motor Factor, but a lot of people confuse it with R40, which was a 2-stroke oil laced with nitromethane/methanol/ethoxyethane and only legal for racing.Castrol R was an early attempt at 'synthetic' oil as it was a hybrid of mineral oils with castor, linseed and flax oil added to maintain the oil's integrity in racing environments - cyclopentane was often added to reduce 'sludging'.
The smell of Castrol R conjours images of four-and-a-half litre supercharged Bentleys at Brooklands or Manx Nortons/HRD Vincents on the Isle of Man.
R40 is the smell of the Agostini Yamaha at Brands Hatch, reeling in Phil Read's MV Agusta, through the ranks of the JPS Nortons, to take the lead from last spot in five laps during the 1971 750 TransAtlantic Trophy final, with Agostini overtaking Cal Rayburn on his Harley at the apex of Druids Hairpin and then taking Dave Croxford's JPS Norton on the entry to South Bank in the first lap. The best bike race I ever watched...
Two-wheeled warriors!
