  1. I had this very conversation with another XVS125 owner on YouTube, I'll copy/paste the messages he sent: I asked which filter was the best to use for the XVS125; If anyone could break this down and clarify every step, that would be superb!
  2. I have one of these fitted to my 2001 XVS125, the lid of the chamber does not appear to come off, so I presume there is another way of filling it. There is a tube coming out of the side at the top of the chamber which I assumed was the filling point. When I tried putting chain oil into it, it wouldn't suck it down into the chamber, even when the engine was running. I tried plugging the oil spout into the tube and forcing it in, but that just bubbled back out again as soon as I pulled the spout back out. This is nowhere in the manual, so I am assuming the previous owner has fitted this themselves. Does anyone else have one of these and knows how it should be filled?
  3. Interesting thread, just a shame it was posted by a troll
  4. An odd question; Having never visited japan, I can't answer your question, are you planning to visit or something? I'm not sure why you answered my question with a question though, that doesn't really give me any answers. I did read somewhere that someone used it on their XVS1100, and it improved a possible carb icing issue. I'm not sure if the engine configuration is too dissimilar on the 125 to use the same product. Advice would be great, if anyone's used this?
  5. I know oil additives are not recommended for the XVS series, but I wonder if there would be any problem with putting a fuel additive in, such as Redex. Redex works great on carburettors, etc. and generally good for keeping the engine running well. Anyone tried it? advice much appreciated
  6. Wow! A plethora of replies! Excellent! Many many thanks for this, it's invaluable having the owners manual for your first bike. Managed to find my one (2001 XVS 125). However, I can't seem to make out where the oil level window is. The pic is on page 6-9, but very unclear, I can't make out where the illustration is pointing to, or which side of the bike it is. I found the filler cap easily enough, but there's no level window in sight! The other thing I've been meaning to ask, there's what appears to be a liquid chamber of some sort situated on the frame next to the horn speaker. This has a clear pipe coming out of the bottom of it that seems to be filled with a green liquid, the chamber itself appears empty. Anyone have any ideas what it is? Again, many thanks for the replies and I look forward to hearing back regarding these questions.
  7. Seems like a dead forum, not even a welcome, I'll look around for another one with a bit more life on it before I go insane speaking to myself.
  8. 34 views, and no replies. Does anybody use oil in their bikes on here?
  9. Hi people, I've recently passed my CBT, and purchased a lovely 2001 XVS 125. I didn't get much info about which oil to put in, where to put it, or how to check if I have enough. I wondered if any of the members here would be able to help me out on this? Or if there's anything else I need to check. There was no manual with the bike, if anyone has a owners manual they could upload, that would be really helpful! This is my first bike, so I need a bit of help from the experts I'm also after some panniers if anyone knows where I can get some? Thanks in advance
