Hi everybody, could anybody tell me how many teeth are on the front and back sprockets of an 1989 XT600 tenere?I just got a set and fitted them but the rear had an extra 9 teeth to the one that was on the bike originally, must admit the acceleration is a lot better, probably lose some at the top end but I don't really thrash it anyway, just a query, cheers Andy

  14. Hi folks Back this afternoon, 800 miles completed, 350 of those were in the rain. Tenere never missed a beat. Fuel consumption brilliant, 3 tank fulls and it's actually more comfortable than my Bandit 1200. You see a lot more too because you're not going as quick. Recommend to anyone. Keep you posted to future adventures. Cheers Andy

    Rain Ride

Hi folks, just done 800miles this weekend around the top of Scotland,350 inthe rain on an XT600 tenere,if you don;t ride in the rain you don't ride (not here anyway)You can get 4 seasons in 1 morning As long as your smooth you can still go at a good pace,it's only water
  17. Hi everyone, posyed a couple of questions about my XT600 tenere(thanks for the replys)this is just to say i'm off around Scotland on it,up the east coast to John o groats across the top to Cape Wrath and back down to Ullapool and home from there, leave Friday back on Sunday. Will let you know how we get on(me and the bike) cheers Andy
  18. Hi Mate Might be obvious but have you checked spark plug, supressor cap, ht lead, coils, if any of these are arcing this will cause an intermittant spark. Hope this helps in your quest for Elk or Women, whatever's slowest!
  19. How long is an elk in season? And how fast do you need to go to catch her?
  20. Hi joe(hope thats your name)I think I'll keep it for a while as a second bike, have you seen the M.C.N this week the new Tenere looks a bit of all right, fancy one of those(hope the wife can't see this),maybe next year,is your tenere reliable as I might be taking mine round the coast of Scotland next week, cheers Andy
  21. Hi lads, thanks for the replys, done 150miles on the XT today and was engaging neutral while the bike was still rolling, seem to be the easiest way, found the bike a big difference from my bandit(have to plan overtakes a bit more)but on the back roads it was great fun and very comfy.Put in £15's worth of petrol(3 gallons)and still couldn't see it in the tank(huge thing)but still not on reserve after 150 miles,is this pretty good or normal? cheers Andy
  22. Hi everybody, first post so please be gentle,I have been fixing up an old (1989)xt600z tenere that had been slowly rotting away for the last 7 years and it just passed an M.O.T. today(yee ha)Might have a few questions so here's the first, the bike feels great and runs well apart from trying to engage neutral,is this normal for the bike?Any info on XT's will be gratefully accepted as it's my first bike with a dry sump, Cheers Andy
