  1. Cheers guys! Guess where I'm off to this morning.......Yamaha dealer!!! I just can't resist. I called them up yesterday about the 2005 R6 and they have only one left in Blue, which is what I want. So I'm going down there to check it out. Me and the Mrs went through my budget last night, and all is well but it's just having to leave it in the car park over night. I don't think it'll be a problem really, cos this other guy leave his 2002 R6 in the car park and this woman chains her scooter to the bike shed. I think if I get an Alarm/Immobiliser, Datatag, Chain and Cover. It should be OK. Lets face it, if some b&stard wants to nick it, even if it was garaged, it'll still be nick. I'm only at the flat for anothe 2-3 months so I think it's worth it! Hehehe...... Anyway, I will update you later on how I get on at Yamaha.
  2. That's a nice bike might! You've definitely done well there.
  3. Hello people, The last time I was on here, I'd just passed my Bike Theory Test and that was nearly 2 years ago. Anyway, when I passed my Theory, I kept saying to myself, I got 2 years to do my CBT and DAS and time just flew past and the next thing I knew, I've only got 2-3 months before my Theory runs out again! I did my CBT about 3-4 weeks ago and then did my DAS Saturday to Tuesday this week and passed the test on Wednesday! The feeling is unbelievable, I'm still BUZZIN'! I came through the test with 6 minors which isn't too bad, I stalled twice (was a bit nervous at first). I thought I cocked it up at one point when I was doing the walking with the bike cos I was so nervous that I didn't cover the front brake while pushing it, but I realised just before I was turning and quickly covered it! FEEEEWWW!!!! The examiner either didn't see it or just let me off. I had no problem with the U-turn, I thought it was easy. I just give it a bit of revs when moving off and just let the momentum take me round. With the emergency stop, my instructor said to go round at about 18-20mph and stop using only the front break and cover the back, that way, the back wheel will not lock and get you through the test. He said in a real emergency stop situation, everything will go down the pan and you'll probably end up on the flour!! During my DAS course, at first, I was really crap with my clutch control and turning into tight corners at low speed (I got proper boll*cked from my instructor and so we did some slow manouvers in an empty car park which totally cured my problem). I kept thinking I was gunna stall and the bike was gunna fall over. But if you find the biting point and just feather the clutch and look where you want to go, you can't go wrong. Had a great great 4 days on DAS and now that I'm back in work, I missing biking quite abit! Everyday, I was getting up at 7am, get some McD's Breakfast and going to my bike school to ride from 9am-3pm, it was great! :-) Before my test and durring the first 5 minute of it, I was Sh!tting my pants but then I settled down. When we got back to the test centre and the examiner asked me some pillion questions and then he said "well I'm pleased to tell you that you've passed your test!". I was so happy and when I was riding back I was actually riding alot better with alot more confidence. The feeling is amazing and I will never forget it! :-) Anyway, I'm on my quest to look for my bike now and I'm looking to get a 2005 R6 soon, been looking at the new Gixxer 600 K6 aswell but it a bit too expensive though. I'm a yamaha kid at heart so will probably go for the 05 R6. The 05 R6 is cheap aswell as the 06 R6 is now out, but I just love the look of the 05 shape with the 70 profile tyre at the front and with the USD forks. The only thing that's holding me back in getting my bike now is that at the moment I'm renting a flat and theirs no garage where I live, just a secured car park with locked gates. I'm really scared incase some idiot will TWOC my new baby once I get it. I'm gunna get it Alarmed/Immobilised, Datataged, two chains to a lamp post and a cover for it but you never know with the crooks. I've bought a new house with the Mrs and will be moving in on the 23rd July, and that has a garage. I'm thinking of whether to get a bike now and just hope for the best for 2-3 months at my current rented flat or just wait til' I move?? The Sun is out now and I just want to go riding, I don't want to leave a big gap before I jump back onto the bike again?!? Any suggestions? John.

    ebay dilemma.

Might aswell see how much ebay will get for you. If a guys wants you to end an aution so he can buy the item then just ask him to bid cos' he might get it cheaper than what he's expected to pay in the first place or Vise Versa.
  5. N1 mate. I hope it all works out for ya.
  6. Go Go Power Rangers!!
  7. I'm not riding just yet (need to do my DAS after New Year), but when I do I'll be wearing a helmet, textile jacket with CE armour, textile/leather pants, motorcycling boots and motorcycling glove. It's best to get geared up cos' you only get one chance!
  8. People like BR give bikers bad name!
  9. The more I talk about this, the more pissed off I get.......so I'm just going to leave it now and just wait for the guy to inspect the flat on Monday and forget about it. But just put my situation in your shoes; basically, this guy (a total stranger), says he's coming round to look around your house/flat and if you're not going to be there, he's just going to let himself in and so you better give him your alarm code........morally and by law that is not right! So what if I was on holiday, were they going to come in, have my alarm resetted, look around and take off..........Hmmmmm........I'm sure that's what burglars do and that's called trespassing/breaking (i.e breaking the alarm) and entering. Sorry if I've seemed abit agressive with these posts for the pass day or two......but I hope you'll all understand how much grief these cowboys at the agency is causing me. PEACE OUT. 8)
  10. Yes, they are being very unreasonable, that's why I got so angry and took advice from CAB. There attitude stinks and they're very aggressive and very pushy. Basically, When I rang them, I just wanted to ask them if they can reschedule to a later time on the same day like any time between 4-5.30pm and they said no cos' apparently, I live on the other side of town to where their office is and it takes them ages to get back! That's Bull cos' I play football near where their office is and it only takes me 10 minutes. They're just a bunch of LAZY arse holes who don't give a shit. (Please excuse my language) They are very unprofessional and I just can't be dealing with people like that. I think they know that by law, they need permission to come in but they just didn't want to mention it to me (as I was unaware of it at the time) and tried to bully their way through. I just thought it was totally wrong and cheeky of the guy to DEMAND my alarm code and called me nieve cos' they're just going to pop in and out and not touch anything! I think I would be nieve if I did let them in without me being there. They said to me "Come on, what's your problem, it'll only take 5 minutes.....we'll just be in and out". I then said if it only takes 5 minutes then why don't you just come between 4-5.30pm!! He had nothing to say then and he eventually re-scheduled for next Monday 4pm. What a Tossa!
  11. Yes, you are correct about the agreement to 24hours notice for six monthly inspections which is fine but by Law they still need permission from the tennants. It's not that I'm not letting them in, I just don't want them to go in when no one is in the flat, and if they insist in coming into the flat when no one is in, then it's a bit suspicious and is counted as trespass which becomes criminal offence. I'm sure if I was in court, I have a pretty strong case. Those guys working for the property management agency are just a bunch of Cowboys and basically they just don't want to make time for the tennants, it's either their way or no way......and because I confronted them, they just didn't like it and called me nieve and arkward!
  12. I'm reading that letter they sent though again, and I remember the guy on the phone saying that they can legally come in because they've given me 24 hour notice.......and he said that he can get legal people onto me etc trying the threaten me and all. Anyway, looking at the letter it's really CRAFTY what they have done, for them to come into my flat, they need 1) PERMISSION from me and 2) 24 hour notice. With them sending the letter and me receiving it, they've already sort of fulfilled the criteria so unless I tell them that they can't come in, I think they think that that permission is granted because I've acknowledged the letter and hadn't said "no"!!! Crafty little bastards!!
  13. Hey guys, I've been having some problems from the letting agency, in which I rent my flat from. Basically, they sent me a letter through yesterday saying that they're going to send someone round to my flat tomorrow at 11.40am for a routine inspection. I have no problem with that but I'm at work tomorrow so I called them up this morning to ask if they can re-schedule for a time when me or the Mrs is in.........you know what they told me...........they said no they can't and give me some bullshit how it'll desrupt there schedules (Fucking Lazy Bastards! I pay good money for my rent, and they expect me to take time off from my work to let some dick head in!!). They then said that they'll just let themselve in then!!! I was like WTF no way!!! He said I was Nieve and arkward about the situation (Me letting a totally stanger come into my flat and let them do what ever they want.....nieve, arkward........I don't think so pal!). I said to the guy that they can't get in anyways cos' they don't know the Alarm code.......so he demanding the code, I said "NO" and then he said that if I don't give him the code, he'll just have to bring an alarm expert round with him and reset the code and charge me for it!!! WHAT A WANKER!!! I was at boiling point then, so what ever he said I just said no and totally denied them of any permission to come into my flat without anyone being there. At the end he said that he'll send the guy round on Monday at 4pm take it or leave it! So I agreed but I don't know why I should make time for Dicks like him when I'm doing them a favour!!! I was so pissed off all day so I call my local Citizens Advise Bureau (CAB) to see where I stand legally. CAB told me that the agency who's acting as my Landlord is not allowed to come into my rented flat if it's NOT an emergency repair. For them to come in, they need to give at least 24 hours notice (which they have) and my PERMISSION (Which I denied)! I told them they can't come in and they THREATENED that they'll do so anyways.....that's counted as TRESPASS. This is what it says on the CAB website: Your landlord has a right to reasonable access to carry out repairs. What ‘reasonable access’ means depends on why your landlord needs to get access. For example, in an emergency, your landlord is entitled to immediate access to carry out any necessary work. Your landlord also has a right to enter the property to inspect the state of repair to empty a fuel slot meter, but they should always ask for your permission and should give you at least 24 hours notice. Your landlord does not have a right to enter in any other circumstances unless they have a court order. I've now printed out all this legal stuff and if the guys gives me any shit on Monday, I'm just going to give it to them. The CAB also said to contact them if they continue to cause grief and they get a solicitor for me. Has anyone had simular problems with Landlords like I have? I'm so pissed man! Also do you think I sould tell my actual LandLord about the situation cost I don't thing she know what a bunch of twats her letting agency are!!!
  14. LOL! I'm afraid there's going to be not floppy ears! haha....
  15. I got the Helmet last night and I can't be any more happier! The Shoei fits perfectly and I love it. I already started to personalise it by adding some stickers on and all but I think I would have prefered it if the helmet was Blue/Black/White instead of Black/Grey/White coloured.......... but hey, Black/Grey/White looks cool too and I can't really complain since it's a brand spanking new top of the range high quality helmet worth £330 in which I got for £130! The only minor thing which I don't like about the helmet is that it hasn't got a Breath Guard.....does anyone know where I can a Shoei breath guard which will fit my XR-1000?
  16. I hope so too mate. It should be OK, I tried lot's of helmets on at the NEC motorbike show last week and all the Medium Helmets I tried on fitted perfect......it's just a matter of give or take with different brands.
  17. Hey Guys, I decided not to loose out on the bargain and got it from my friend for £130! RRP £330!! I'm going to pick it up after work! :-)
  18. My mate is selling a BRAND NEW Black/Grey Shoei XR-1000 helmet for his mate and he just called me up about it. He asked if I want it for £150, so I told him I'll let him know by the end of the day, I'm going to see if he'll sell it for £100-£130 but I haven't tried it on yet! It's a Medium and I'm a Medium for Suomy Helmets.......you think the Shoei will fit me? I don't want to miss a bargain here and I only have a few hours to let him know! Please let me know what you guys think. Cheers.
  19. Yes, the new sportbikes are really small. I'm not that tall, only 5'8" - 5'9" and the new GSX-R1000 felt really small! When I put my foot on the pegs, my legs were really cramped up! Mind you, with bikes getting smaller, that's not such a bad thing for not so tall people like myself.....so I'm not really complaining. If you're looking to go for the R1, then go for it cos' it's a beautiful bike and it very comfortable.....it's got to be one of the best sportbikes around and it looks great........it looks even better when you see it up close!
  20. Hi Guys, I haven't been on this forum for a few weeks now, how's everyone? I just been to the NEC Show yesterday and sat on louds of bikes, Had a great day out! (apart from the traffic jams in and around Birmingham!) I've noticed that new sportbikes are getting smaller these days! I sat on the new GSX-R1000 and that bike is small! I got to say, out of all the bike I sat on, the Yamahas were the best. I felt that they had really good build quality and I just felt GOOD on a YAM! I sat on the Honda's and just didn't feel right!? The new Kawasaki ZX-6R was nice but I didn't feel too comfortable on it and I didn't like it's small dials. The Gixxer 600 wasn't bad too but felt a bit big for me! I think the new R6 is the bike for me..........The R6 was already my fav bike just by seeing pics and reading about it in Mags, but now that I've sat on it and seen it up close, it's deffinitely the bike for me! Oh yeah, the R1 was very nice as well and the new MT-01 looks pretty mean too! Yams Rule!

    2005 R1

LOL! Does you bum get over heated in the summer?! Also, (correct me if I'm wrong) I think side exhausts are a little bit lighter than underseat ones, that's probably why Yamaha and the likes of Suzuki have chose to stick with the side exhaust for their 600s to keep the weight down. I think next years 600 shotout is going to be close, but the 2005 ZX-6R 636 is going to be the bike to beat. The R6, Gixxer 600 and CBR600RR should all be fairly close.

    2005 R1

Yeah, the underseat exhausts are meant to give more centralisation and better balance and less air resistance etc........But lets face it, are you really going to go that fast on the public road to take advantage of it!? But they do look nice IMAO. As far as road bikes are concerned, the underseat exhausts are probably a fasion accessory. Sooner or later, if most bikes have underseat exhaust, people will start wanting the side exhausts again......never ending cycle really.
  23. JohnR6

    2005 R1

Alot of people actually don't like the underseat exhausts, they think it's more a fasion thing more than anything, but I'm not too bothered. With the 2005 not having the underseat exhaust (like the R1) it just means that when I get a 03-04 R6 next year, it'll still look new and not dated.
