  1. Now that is a pretty bike Dutch you should have fun with that.

Thanks guys, well fun was had. Hooked up today with an ex colleague that has been driving one of these babies for the last 12 years. His has got 94K on the clock, mine half that. After the initial eye up he admitted its mint for its age, headed out to have some fun and swap bikes one or twice. He was pleasantly surprised because he said the bike was as tight as a drum with perfect clutch/gearbox/breaking etc.

Hehehe ..... hit the A30 on the way to the Yam dealership to pick up some spares ......... gently went trough the gears ...... until I looked at the clock ....... flippin 'eck :eusa_whistle:

  2. Edit not calling you a idiot but so many cars out there with lights shinning everywhere but where they should be it pisses me off.

Ehm, thanks for not calling me an idiot :eusa_whistle: but as you rightly put it your MOT regulations are a joke seeing what utter wrecks are on the road. The amount of cash I have to fork out on my Jeeps (my other passion) every year is scary ...... and they are in top nick.

For my problem however : I have found a solution to operate the original head light adjuster at the back of the lamp without having to dismantle the whole fairing. (no heath robinson antics, trust me) :hyper:

  3. Hi Guys,

    Me again :-)

Can you bl**dy believe it !!!

I have driven Yams for the last 30 years but none had adjustable head lamps - this one has and its duff - hence failed MOT.

That's all, really. Chap was a bit apologetic for he thought it was a cracking bike.

This mini UJ connecting head light to the adjuster knob has fallen apart.

My hands are to big to fiddle around with it without taking the whole bl**dy fairing off. :-(

    Any pointers ?

    Thanks.

  4. Afternoon guys,

    Remember my 'new' FJ-1200 ?

Applying for UK reg. through DVLA and they want MOT cert (check!), proof of identity (check!), application form (Check!), original former reg.docs (Check!), HMRC vat sorted (Check!), EEC cert of conformity (Check!) and .....................................................valid insurance cert.

I'm a client (was with 2 bikes for 6years) with Bennets and they won't F**&^%$£)*(&^% touch me - 'No Sir we wont accept you with chassis nbr. only' - Ok so if DVLA won't give me a plate without insurance - and you won't insure me without plate - How the F$^£"&**&^% am I going to get a UK plate !!

Boo hoo hoo .....UK's number one bike insurance co...... my arse.

    Rant over !!

    Any pointers ?

    Thanks,

    Dutch out.

  5. Thanks guys.

It will be an import again for I found it in Belgium. Oh the joy of locking horns with the DVLA again next week :-(

btw : have seen a lot of references here to the FJ Owners website. Erm.... not a free site - is it worth it ?

    Cheers!

  6. Hi,

Great write up. I have recently sold my XJ-650 that I bought from new in 1984. Then kept pottering around (daily commute) on my remaining 1983 XT-250 until I recieved an offer I couldn't refuse. This has allowed me to buy, what has been for a long while, my dream bike. I have been looking with great intrest and envy at the FJ1200 but now time and finances have allowed me to aquire one. :hyper:

I'll take your tips to heart.

And I have had Ray-Ban aviators all my life. :headbang:

  7. Hi all,

Used to be Dutch XJ650 but the XJ has gone last year and so has my 1983 XT250 since last Saturday.

Left my account dormant for too long I guess because I couldn't get back in here :-)

    But fear not

    .

Will be presenting the new stable mate soon.

    .

    Wait for it .........................

    .

    FJ-1200
