  1. Right good news, I've finally sorted it out. Did a bit more digging and reading and realised that although my power valve was working it wasn't sitting flush in the exhaust post. A 180 degree flip of the power valve and I'm back up and running full power. So pleased. The guy who did my piston re-bore must of put it in the wrong way round. Grrr well annoying. Anyways thanks for all the help guys. Cheers n Gone
  2. So today I cleaned out the petrol tank and fuel filters. Cleaned all electrical connectors. Took off the exhaust and checked pv position. All ok. Took it for a ride and still doing the same (Riding rough at 7k revs) It was however going higher but very slowly and it was surging. When I drop a gear to keep speed up it just slows right down to 7k. I stopped to rev in neutral and at 7k revs on about half throttle it was revving up to 10.5k on its own, without moving the throttle!? Is that too much air or too much fuel? Also when riding the exhaust isn't as loud/high pitched as it was before this problem. Couldn't find any blockages when I had the exhaust off.
  3. Signed. Really pisses me off. Don't understand why they can't just leave these things alone. There's so many other motoring related issues to be dealing with other than a few bikes on some quiet rural green lanes. Grrrr
  4. Well I changed the main jet. The bike ran slightly better and slightly higher revs before fluttering and not pulling anymore:-( I also slackened and re aligned the power valve and tightened the cables back up nicely. Still no luck. Really wanna get to the bottom of this before I put it back in the garage. I feel like it might be using more petrol than usual. Only noticed this the one time so not 100% on this and don't really wanna run through another full tank to find out as don't wanna run the risk of wrecking the engine. I'm fairly sure it's either electrical or fuelling problems. Will up date if I find the problem. In the mean time thanks for the replies and keep 'em coming Cheers n gone
  5. Thanks for replying. I think I'm already running an iridium plug. Will have it out and check it. Standard jet on my model (2000) is #240. Have got a #250 and #260 now and will be fitting them tomorrow to see if this helps my situation. My bike (before this problem) also runs a little rough until warmed up nicely. Just want my power and back! Missing it. Will also check the reeds. Cheers
  6. I'm currently having a very similar problem. I'm interested to read that after all that it was the spark plug!? Has this been a perminant fix? My bike has just had a piston re bore with new piston. Also had new spark plug, new gearbox oil and new wadding in the end can. Running a full dep exhaust. It gets to around 7k and then the engine is intermittent, feels like it's not getting enough fuel or maybe spark!? Will get to 81/2k when going down hill but the speed again is intermittent like it wants to go higher in the rev range but can't. The exhaust sounds different to usual like a cackling rough sort of noise, does this at 7k and also as you put the throtle back on after easing off. Have cleaned the carb numerous times. Have noticed it hasn't been up jetted still has original #240. Have a #250 and #260 on the way. Very frustrating:-(
  7. Thanks for the responses guys. I'm pretty certain that the HT lead and spark plug is fine as the problem goes away after I drain the carb. By running like s##t I mean that the bike does not pull away well and when under load, i.e going up a hill it really struggles. The engine stops revving around 6000rpm and will not go any higher. It also sounds very rattely and often will stall on tick over. I will be checking the air box to see if the water is getting in there. I also spoke to my bike mechanic and he mentioned about the carb air breathers!? Any one had any experience of re routing these? Cheers
  8. The filler cap is fine. I don't think the water is splashing up that high anyway.
  9. Hi all, I've had a very frustrating day green laning today. The lanes were very wet and muddy and after almost every lane my bike was running like s##t. I had to stop, drain the carb and then carry on. I did this about 7 times. I've had the trouble before and have removed the carb and cleaned it countless times. My air filter was cleaned, dried and oiled two rides ago so I know that is clean. As you can imagine this is very frustrating. Any help and advice on how to stop his happening would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  10. Hi all, I'm a new member to the forum. I've owned my 2000 DT 125 R for 9 months now and have been doing a lot of Green Laning down here in Cornwall. The bike has been relatively trouble free with a few laning related problems. Mainly blocked carb!? Anyone else get that? It has however recently broke down on me. I'm going to do a bit more research and forum search before posting up a please help me message? ;-) Cheers n Gone Tim
