  1. smoke mainly coming out of the middle right joint. Yeah rpm increases when I pull in the clutch. Cheers James
  2. When in neutral or holding the clutch in the revs are high, any ideas as to what might be causing this? Also there is smoke coming out of the join between the exhaust and engine, the smoke doesn't smell like it is burning, is it just burning crap off the exhaust or is it something else? Cheers James
  3. Have only recently really got in to bikes and love bobbers. I think it must be fate as my family have called me bobber all my life. Probably would have been a better name then just james1985!!
  4. cheers for the replies. will get some of the silkolene.
  5. Hi does anyone know what oil to put in a 1990 Yamaha Radian? Cheers James
  6. Hi everyone just thought would introduce myself. Have recently bought a radian which is my first 'big' bike. Need to do a few jobs to get it through its MOT as the previous owner was clearly stupid and decided to cut the back light wire, remove the indicators and even the flasher relay. But hopefully will all be fun and will learn some stuff as I go. Cheers James
  7. Just to let you know I put a new fuse on and the bike now starts.
  8. Hi, does not turn over on the start switch. when I start it, it does run. all I have is a schematic from a Haynes manual. Thanks James
  9. Thanks for the reply. Thats what I thought and am wondering if it is the CDI that has gone. I have got a friend coming up with his ammeter to check the circuit. Do you know where are the best places to check from? Cheers James
  10. Hi, I am a new member and owner of a Yamaha Radian. I am having problems getting the bike to start by using the start switch. I have checked the clutch switch and side stand switch and both seem to be working. I have put a new battery on the bike and can get it started by bridging the positive on the battery and the starter. Any ideas as to why it will not start? I also noticed that the previous owner removed the fuse for the power wires and just wound them together. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks James
