  1. Hi son, its yer Dad here, good to see youre using youre smarts and joining a worthwhile forum where you can usually get good advice on your bike problems, that is, when so called adults are not trying to be smarter than they actually are. But hopefully there wont be too many of those time wasters. This is the site i was getting my information from when we were building your DT125r, thats why i decided to join this club, and now there is the added bonus that your a member too, good stuff. I only hope that we can get info on any make or model of bike so that we can build other projects together, after all, most other members do own or have owned motorcycles other than yamaha and these people will hold a wealth of information that you can tap into, see ye soon lad, and try no tae be hard on yer throttle all the time, you only visit the petrol station more if you are.
  2. Hi, im new tyo this forum also, but i do know that there is an ignition spark relay switch under the seat at the rear left of the frame, it is held in place by a black square rubber hanger. There are 4 wires connected by a block connector that fit into it, it is one of the daftest places to hang a relay switch as it is open to all the dirt and water that the back wheel kicks up. Ive repaired a few DTRs with this problem and i always relocate the relay switch to the top of the air box under the seat, this keeps it nice and dry and out of the road dirt. Its only £10/£12. Check to see that the relay is still present, chances are that it may need to be replaced.
  3. Thats right, my son took his rear pegs off his dt125r and he failed the MOT, had to take bike back next day with rear pegs on to get certificate.
  4. Yeh, youre right MRR, but taking into account that im on "all NON yamaha related content", in the general forum page i think you might want to try thinking about what page youre on before you try to be a smart arse. I was looking for an educated , intelligent answer from a grown up.
  5. I baught a derestricted cdi from a bike breakers in London which was addvertised on Ebay, only problem is there is no fitting instructions with it as it came of a KDX250F that was being broken up for parts, my bike is a KDX250F also but i cant see no way to fit this Posh Firm cdi, is there someone out there who can help me out, all and any assistance would be greatly apprieciated.
  6. Hi, im not too sure if there should be a ball-bearing in front of the push rod or not, i think there should be, maybe when you were dismantling the clutch it might have popped out. If you have a haynes manual for the bike then it might be worth checking out just in case there is.

  8. I picked up a DT50m or possibly an mx model last week, i was walking past my girlfriend who was sitting at the laptop on facebook when i glanced out of the corner of my eye the distinct shape of a long lost lover in one of the photographs in the chat page she was on. Ha, i hear you say, he is going to cheat on his missus - no youre wrong, i had a closer look over her shoulder and saw that it was the afore mentioned DT50. which happens to be the first motorcycle that i ever owned and therefore the bike that took my pavement pounding virginity . Being that i was only 13 at the time one of my mates suggested that we should swap my DT for a Datsun 120y car which after a few months of hassling me i finally agreed to do. Well one day we were watching Death Race 2000 on Betamax video (1983), we took the car to the fieldy (it was an unused field that belonged to a farmer where me and my mates learned to drive), and we procceded to enact the Death Race film, the car ended on its roof where some older boys set it on fire and i ended up with no bike and no car. Ive often looked back on that time with lots of regret and manys the time ive wished i had kept my DT, so when i saw the picture of one on facebook i had to have it. It is in a right sorry state and hasnt ran for years, i payed £40 and it now sits in my workshop ready to be fully restored by me over the next few months. I cant wait to get the bike back to full road worthyness. I have just restored a DT125r on a "99" plate for one of my sons, it passed its MOT on Monday and now is back on the road. I myself drive a KDX250 on a "93" plate which i have fitted a Wiseco racing piston and Boyesen reed valves to also messed around with various sprocket sizes and fitting a "Pro-Circuit full system exhaust to in the next few wks.
