    My New FJ1200

Hi Great choice of bike, the second gear problem was blown out of proportion it's basically that the bike will jump out of second gear with hard excelaration. If yours does not do it don't worry. Clutch slip on an FJ is a common problem, it can be reduced by running a good 20/50 mineral oil. (Synthetic & Semi synthetic oils are too slippery for the FJ's wet clutch) You can also buy another diafram spring and use two together (Heavy clutch action at the lever) or you can buy and install a barnett clutch conversion this is the best option in my opinion but the most expensive. Adam.

    Brake disc bolts

Giving the bolts a good tap first, breaks the loctite. Adam.

    Rear wheel

    Loads on Ebay. Adam.
  5. No re-jet needed, unless they are pure race pipes. Adam.
  6. The V & H will be a better fit. Adam.
  7. Hi Its from a latter model, the silencer can hanging brackets are in a differant place the earlier model attaches to the footrest hanger, the later model had a dedicated hanger on the rear sub frame. But it will fit you will just have to be a little bit clever in making/changing the hanging bracket. If it's a bargain go get it. Adam.
  8. Hi Yes it's just the same as bleeding the brakes, but I think you will find that the clutch slave seals have blown. If you bleed the system and the problem persists change seals, it's a very easy job and the seals are pretty cheap. Adam.
  9. Pretty straight forward, 4 bolts two are on the frame down tubes next to exhaust headers (Unless someone has removed brackets) two on lower frame rails rear & below engine. Adam.
  10. Hi You stated that you held the revs high and the vibes were still there "Today when the bike was warm and running, I held the revs high and the same vibration appeared again, but I don't know if that's a normal trait for these type of bike" How could this possible be the tyres as you are not moving, I would start by getting the carb,s balanced and then checking the valve clearances, I think you will find that this is your problem. There's no harm in getting the wheels balanced though. Adam.

  12. You have deffo got a problem with the sidestand cut out wiring. Adam.
  13. Hi Chris Nice choice of bike. Try here CLICK dont forget to introduce yourself first. Adam
  14. Well that depends on a lot of things but if its been stood a good long while and has not been/poorly maintained then yes. Adam.
  15. The calipers work independantly of each other, you could check if there,s brake fluid being pushed through the system by connecting a tube to the bleed nipple, opening and pulling the brake lever. Fluid should be pumped out of the nipple. FJ brake calipers are renowed for seizing up, most owners replace with Yam Blue spots. Adam.
  16. Is the Fuel pump working correctly as it should pump the fuel, thus pulling it from the tank to the carbs. I had lots of problems with my fuel pump and ended up ditching it. I now run a gravity feed with in-line filter(on its side under tank) and dont have any problems. Adam.
  17. Look HERE Dont fpreget to introduce yourself, great bunch of FJ/FJR nuts Adam.
  18. Thats a Great looking FJ you have there, it's a 1tx model and I am afraid that you can't fit blue spot calipers without changing the front forks. The front brake calipers are the same as the later model rear calipers so you should be able to pick a couple of second hand units up pretty cheap, or just strip and renovate the existing calipers. The other major place to check will be the rear shock linkages these have a tendancy to seize and fail. As for the Engine it,s virtualy unbreakable there are documented cases of FJ engine's going over 200,000 miles. hope this helps. Adam.
  19. Can you post a pic and I can tell you. Adam.
  20. Front Calipers on the FJ are pretty crap, I would suggest replacing both the calipers and the master cylinder. On the 3cv & 3xw models you can use the blue spot calipers and Fazer reservoir. To be honest any modern Yam resevoir will suffice. Adam.
  21. Yes the Handlebars are the same, so should swap out no probs. Hope you slaped the Twat. Adam.
  22. Lock to Lock on both my FJ's the levers don't come close to the fairing. Adam.
  23. To adjust the idle there is a large Knurled Knob in the middle underneath the carbs. Takes a few attempts,(Wear Gloves you tend to burn your hands on the barrels) just give it a good few blips after each udjustment, could be running a bit lean with single filters. The owners Club recomend fitting a Jet correction kit. Adam.
  24. Jet washing is not a good idea, it forces water in to places that it shouldnt go. (as you found out) Has the bike a side stand switch, this and the engine kill switch are the first places I would check. Good luck. Adam.
  25. Check and lube your chain, there's a good chance with all this crud around that its coming from there. Adam.
