    Pretty sure my CDI is bust too. Runs fine cold, as soon as it is hot it cuts out when pulling to a stop, or idling at traffic lights. Let me know if you find a cheap way of doing it. As i would rather not bargin £40 for it to go bust soon.
  2. I have the same problem on my 1993. However, due to a previous owner who managed to wreck both the little inspection window to check the timing and some of the screws on the crank case I can't even get TDC check the values. Mine only happens when the engine has warmed up. Is that the case with yours too? Mine was doing it alot, I changed the plug, and did the carb and now it only happens after about 30 mins. Mine also has the classic SR125 engine rattle that I have been told is very common. And yes, the choke is stupid on the bike.
  3. Yeah, it usually idles fine. Either way, I have no idea why its not working. I'm going to ring a local bike place and ask for a quote. What kind of price am I looking at? I mean, I know it depends what needs doing, but I have never taken anything to a garage and have no idea what prices are like.
  4. The Sr125 has no rpm gauge. So i thought it was best to leave it where it was.
  5. Yes, I do know the difference. I only counted it because that was how it was set when I got the bike, otherwise I would be guessing where to put it. Fuel? What's that? I thought it ran on pixie dust? But no, plenty of fuel. I stripped the carb and filter today, they were actually in pretty good nick. Blew out the jets, set the float height. Checked the air filter, not blocked and pretty clean. Once I put it together again it was exactly the same. I even tried to bump start it (just to see whether the battery was too flat), and it just wouldn't go. It did try to, but it never managed to get going. I'm thinking it could be a weak spark now. Although the plug was replaced about 1 1/2 months ago.
  6. Yes, back again with more SR125 problems! But, I have new brakes in the post and come Tuesday, no more university. So I will finally get some time to work on it. OK, so here is what's happening. I went for a ride about 2 weeks ago to get a new helmet (although, turns out the local shops had none in my size). It was riding fine apart from the previous odd cut out when idling. Anyway, getting close to home it was getting bad, It had to have throttle or it would cut out (throttle stop screw is about 2 turns out). I put it in the garage, then checked for air leaks, didn't find any. It was weird, started then just cuts out unless it was slightly revved. Even tried to increase the throttle stop but it didn't make any difference. So anyway, I was so bogged down with work I had to leave it. When back to it a few days later and it started and idled fine. But now, went back to it and it wont start. Nothing, it turns over then every once or twice makes a pop, but other than that it wont do anything. It's sparking and has had a new plug recently. After applying some logic I have come up with some theories, just wondering if they sound right. 1. Fuel blockage/carb not filling - Fuel filter clean (my tap is stiff, don't know if that has anything to do with it)/carb overhaul. 2. Idle jet completely blocked? 3. Air filter problems. 4. Starter/spark problems (although it has been fine) I know nothing of the bikes past servies, when it was last done or anything. Only what I have done. Do you think it would be good to clean and inspect all of those areas to make sure? Reset the whole carb, take the fuel tap apart and check all the lines? I also have some noise from the engine, I'm about 90% sure it's my inlet/outlet values. Could people suggest other things to look for/do while the tank and carb is off?
  7. After looking at this I decided to trawl ebay for breakers. I asked alot of people who posted up SR125 parts. And with a bit of luck I managed to get a response from a breaker who is breaking a 93 model. He has a whole front breaking system for me, he is going to send me some pics but he said he has never had any problems with it. So hopefully that will do it. I mean, the bike is in far from in good condition (my friend laughs at me because there is always something going wrong, he boasts how his bike is perfect, he spent over £1000 for his 125 and I spent £350), but I will have so much spare time as of 2 weeks I think it would be nice to bring the bike up to it's former glory - that is, as much glory as a 125 has. Everyone has got to learn somewhere right?
  8. Good news is I'm pretty sure It's not leaking anymore, it is ever so slightly from the nipple (I don't think I tightened it up enough.) However, piece of mind, I'm going to replace the whole front braking system anyway. With this in mind, what do you think of the first link DirtyDT posted, does it look in working order? I messaged him and he said "It has not been tested". He quoted £15 shipping, is it worth it if I don't know the quality of the part?
  9. I know, I know. The thing I don't understand is why it's leaking though. I totally wasted a lot of money, and now I can't find a spare one.
  10. Scratch that, it's f**ked. It's leaking past the seals, both sets. I guess its either a whole new calliper or take it into a garage.
  11. OK, I put it all together today. I think it works, although I just got off and I felt some moisture on the bottom of the calliper. Please say my piston seals are not leaking, please. I will check again tomorrow, I have a spare pair of seals so I might be ok.
  12. I know what you mean, it would be nice to get it out. But I really don't want to break it - as I would have to buy a new calliper.
  13. In fact, I won't even risk it. I'll test to make sure it's sealed and then buy a banjo nipple combo bolt! Also Airhead, those seals were perfect! Thanks.
  14. I will try and get the pin out using a set of bolt extractors + heat (new nipple and extractors arrived today, worth a shot?). If It looks like it wont come out I will buy one of them banjo bolts! I wish I had done that first!
  15. Don't I only want to heat the screw? If not boiling it will be fine I think. I don't have a blowtorch unfortunately.
