  1. Thanks mate- yes cant undertand why main dealer reset the needles, back to normal- will have to sort
  2. I have had the same problems on my 650 and have just had much larger Jets put in. Mine would be fine until opening the throttle fully then would hold and then clear. Took it back to my local Yamaha dealer who had it for a couple of days. It still has the very very slightest of delays barely noticeable - but is safe and much faster. This all happened after changing the pipes to slash cuts. If I had known then what problems it would cause - would I have kept to the standard hair dryers - still not. The bike is so much better now!
  3. Will do - Pics to follow - probably be sunday now as working tomorrow and need daylight. I know my draggie is different to my mates - he has a 99 classic and it was very easy to remove the boards. Mine are all "pinned" together. He looked and could not work it out! Hey maybe you guys can suggest something from the pics - its doing my head in - cheers guys. And Hanger - yes mate your right its my bloody bike so I will change it to as I want it..thanks Watch this space.....
  4. Hi Guys, Well boards still on bike! I rang my local main dealer who cannot see an easy way of removing the floorboards without replacing, brake/gear levers and new brackets - we got to £400 before I stopped him. My mechanic reckons he can remove the boards by cutting them off and make it look all legit with nice new pegs but I am worried this may affect any resale i.e. if someone wants a late classic they will want boards? What do you think guys? Dragstars are so good to modify I am torn between making it perfect for me but worried it may depreciate the bike, confussede.com!!
  5. Thanks for the advice guys, but I may be a newbie to the forum but not to biking! I have only once been knocked off in 29 years by a white van man in 86, just the once- touch wood etc, he was done for dangeous driving. I am more than aware of what other road users can get up too, including most recently cyclists who go through reds and never use lights, I cycle as well and people seem amazed seeing me waiting at the lights..lol The pipes are already baffeled and noisy but not too much. Noisey pipes save lives...
  6. To be honest I am not too bothered by the power, there is more than enough for a cruiser. I just wanted more noise, mainly for safety. I will just re-jet and leave it there then.
  7. Thanks for the advice. The Jardines were only modified bracket wise as they come of a Honda Custom 1300. The cans themselves were completley left alone and still have the standard baffles in and Jardines do not normally need re jetting. There is no popping or burbling, everything is quite crisp really. Whats frustrating is the bike rode to my mechanics so well I thought it had cured it so just stopped for a cup of tea then it did it on the way home, just the once. I got up to 90 no problem and I am a bit lardy so was quite happy. I have heard you lose some back presure on changing the pipes so I guess a loss of the odd horse is ok, it certainly does not feel any slower but sounds lovely! Would you recommend fitting a K&N then or equivelant?
  8. Well after the modified Jardines were fitted I thought I would not need to re-jet however the bike seems to hold back in top gear before clearing a couple of times. Its almost like a sticking clutch but its not and its only happened since the pipes were fitted. Got it booked in with my mechanic on thursday but he says it may take a while to get the correct size jet fitted as we may have to try several to get it just right. Is this right, is there not a standard larger size to use if the pipes are changed? Or am I just not mechanically minded enough to understand? Thanks for any advice in advance guys!
  9. Well with some fettling, welding, cutting etc the Jardines are now fitted to the bike. The sound is great and it seems as though the bike is slightly faster with no popping or banging on the overun. Jardin advertise no jetting required and with them running so well I am not intending to carry this out. Now I need to sort the floorboards to pegs - I think it may work out expensive as I will need new brackets as well.
  10. Those pipes look awesome mate, but have got some Jardines off a mate, although for a Honda shadow they are pretty similar bore etc so a mechanic mate is going to see if we can convert them tomorrow. If not then I will defo go for the turnouts. The floorboards do not look like an easy changeover - I take it the bracket is all replaced as well? Also can I just change the mudguards to the custom ones? I sort of prefer them? Cheers
  11. New cornering technique- maybe your right, this is after all my first cruiser in my 30 years of riding lol I have to say though I did take a Shadow 400 round Cyprus that had no foot pads and I only touched down a few times in the Trodos mountains which has so many bends you just yearn for a straight road! Agree with you fearless Joe- the thought of that metalic scraping is now making me nervous on tighter cornes or even roundabouts. On looking at them today, they look like they will not be so easy to remove? The switchgear is fixed to the boards? I heard the Classic changed in 2004 and maybe its now not so easy to change to pegs? Re the screen, I love the open look of the road over the dragstar handlebars, adding a screen will to me detract from that feel, and I have had many faired bikes this to me is different - wind and rain (unfortunately) all part of the experience rather than tucking down behind the double bubble on my blackbird and moving to warp factor 2!
  12. Thanks for the good advice guys. I am defo going to remove the floorboards and put pegs on and some slips on or straight throughs eventually when the moneys there. Regarding clips ons - thats might help with my bulk - but am really enjoying the bike and have not managed to get over 80 yet but then do I need to with the wind blast and I hate the cruiser screens. Oh have also done an intro in the newbie section -
  13. Hi Guys, Already posted on here but would be good to introduce myself. Just got a Dragstar classic my first cruiser after many years of more sportier bikes. My girls think I should grow a long beard and a pony tail now to go with my leathers lol. Been riding since 1981 and have always had a bike, am loving the cruiser feel and the enjoyment of not tearing everywhere (at least thats what it feels like) Thats it really - great Forum! cheers guys Trev
  14. Hi Got a 2006 Classic and got a couple of questions. Is it possible to remove the floorboards and put the custom pegs on the front? I keep scraping them and the thought of touching down is slowing my cornering down. Also has anyone done the 3-4 hole mod to the exhausts i.e. drilling them to incease the noise? I would like noisier pipes but after buying the bike have little money. Also would like to increase the bhp just a little to shift my bulk along - what are the options and i am confussed now reading about back pressure? In the past fitting an aftermarket can to all my sporty bikes and removing the baffle incresed the bhp? Cheers in advance guys
