  1. Thanks for the replies folks. Got on the trainers Kawasaki 500 today and took my mod 2 test at last (test was cancelled last week due to snow). Great weather for a ride this morning, and 40 minutes seemed like 15 at the most. Got back to the test centre office and I had passed. Only 1 fault and that was on the first question. Christ who gets faults on the questions?Apparently I mis-heard him and gave a perfect answer but to another question. Great ride back to the training site and now I need to look out for a new bike. Dont want a sports profile - something a bit more upright for these old bones.
  2. You wont believe what happened to me today and I've only just managed to calm down. I can also imagine the sympathy I will get (or not) when you read the rest of this post. Module 2 test was booked for today at 10:09 Met with my instructor early at 8.00am for a good hours touring as it was quite cold and wanted to check out the roads. We then went off to the test centre but mid journey I had to swap gloves with a spare pair that my instructor had. We arrived well in time at about 9.50. Outside the test centre we had a last minute chat and i decided to go back to using my gloves so we swapped the kit over and I took off my headset and radio and helmet.Walked into the test centre quite calm ready to be called. Then realised - no bike key. Spent the next 15 minutes checking every pocket with all my gear off, the bike, outside where we had been talking, all to no avail. Even the examiner came out to look for the key. Anyway I was timed out and couldnt take my test. Now there are 2 options. (1) I left the key in the bike and some git thought it would be a laugh to nick the key but not the bike. however I am paranoid about keys and I'm sure I didnt leave it in the ignition, or (2) I left it outside when sorting out my gear and again someone decided to pick it up and walk off or just kicked it somewhere across the carpark. I was extremely mad as i had to forfeit the test but more that I had let my instructor down and have caused him the grief of changing the locks on the bike. Added the fact that he had to do a 20 mile round trip to collect a spare key. Not sure now if this is a test fail and I will have to wait to re-book or if I can take the next available cancellation. Will need a few beers tonight

    Half way there

Hi all, really chuffed, Mod 1 test done and passed - not too much of an issue, cant count how many controlled stops and swerves I practiced but it all shows that repetition really does work. Mod 2 test booked for next Friday
  4. Signed last night. I was surprised by the number of e petitions for motorcycles and a few just wacky ones.

    YBR mirrors

I'm new to motorised 2 wheels and have recently acquired a YBR 125 custom to practice on before I go for Direct Access. The only thing that bugs me is the poor rear vision from my miirrors. Now you may say that its because the YBR is naff or its because I'm not used to cycle mirrors but I dont think the view is good at all. I can see well to the rear left and rear right but if the mirrors were a little longer I'm sure the rear view would be better. Is there anything I can do to improve this? thanks
  6. I've just stood down as GSL and will be assuming the role of AGSL until the end of September when I go. Ive been in scouting for 15 years so I will be looking for another Group when I get down south. Had a good year tho as managed to get a Scout to Jambouree this year and fundraising went well.
  7. Thanks for the welcome folks. Drewpy I see you are also involved in Scouting. So bizarre as I am also a Scout Leader. Off in a couple of weeks with the Troop over the Bank Holiday weekend doing a bit of back woods and some activities.
  8. Hi everyone I'm another new starter although this is not my first post. I really have'nt introduced myself to the forum properly. I am totally new to 2 wheels although I have held a full car licence for 30 years so from that you will gather that I'm no spring chicken. I am just about to be made redundant and will be moving from Birmingham down to Cornwall so my newly acquired YBR 125 Custom will be my new steed while the wife uses the car. I got through my CBT 2 weeks ago and passed my theory this weekend so I'm on a roll. I'm really taken to this 2 wheel life and have just got back from a 120 mile run. I assume putting some miles under my belt is the best thing to do. I hope to take my practical test but would appreciate some advice from members. Do I now wait a few months and take a test in the Spring when the weather should be ok or should I try to get it in in the next few months.
  9. Hi everyone, as you can see from my username I am very new to 2 wheel motoring and have recently acquired a YBR 125 Custom following a successful CBT. I have one question which may seem quite stupid to the experienced but here goes. I took my CBT on a Yamaha that had an engine kill switch to be used in emergencies only. The Custom does not appear to have this kills switch. Is this something I should be worried about or is it just a feature that is not on the custom? Many thanks
