  1. to be done by a shop it needs to be in the middle..... 70%??? i think, of the tyre, some places charge like 15-20 quid apparently, but my local place in london did me for 40 quid for it, but it was a brand new tyre so i did anyway
  2. when you ask about power... what bike do you ride now, what you used to?? dont get me wrong, i love it, its awsome, but i must disagre about it being rapid.... in anyway at all, but its not really meant for that so i can forgive it, my other bike is an er5 (which isnt fast at all either), and that would compleatly blast the 650 anyday having said that i did once get 85 mpg out of mine, this was sitting at 55 mph in a line, no braking no corners
  3. getting it ready for mot so i can register my vstar so cleaned her up, she was bloody dirty ran it up and put it in gear and she dies, though it might be the cluch sticking as my kwack does but i can roll it around in gear with the clutch and there is no jolt. just dies like the gear is the kill switch then the starter button does nothing untill its in neutral on my kwak i would say it was 100% the sidestand switch doing this but i though i would ask if there is anything else on the star that would do it, i may have ridden it alot but i've never pulled it apart at all plus the switch does move in and out, but only by about 5 or 6 mm then it rests on the braket thing, is it supposed to come right out and stay in contact with the cam shapped bit on the sidestand sorry for stupid quustions joe
  4. oh i see, i thought you meant it was a stretch to the levers cos it was a stetch the bars.... inthat case just bend them more i would say, blow torch it and it wont snap just make sure you dont inhibit there max throw or you could make some custom bars/chop up the ends of yours and make some realllly skinny grips to give them more throw ps i dont think your gona be able to buy anything from m&p/busters any time soon
  5. hi, duno what there called, but you can get things that are like handle bar risers, but ones that move the bars back, which would move the bars and controls about 2cm closer to you joe
  6. haha, alright fair point but mine was very brick like this was before that green bag ripped and i got a bigger one that could take the same gear... plus two 10 leiter 'gas' cans got so used to it that i need to get a rider backrest now brick
  7. i have all those things bar the seat, although they came with the bike i have some rentec bars on my kawasaki and they are tough as f***, the xvs ones look just as good but as you say, they do look a bit cak
  8. got mine upto 95 according to the satnav, speedo dosnt light up though so i dont know what the clock said this was waaaaaaaaay overloaded so had the airodynamis of a brick..... and down a ever so slight hill, on the ever so slight up hill it slowed to 70 and wouldnt go any faster
  9. i dont want to get the converter thing as it would mean the km on the clock would become miles and i dont think you need to for an mot and having 98K km on the clock it would then look like 98K miles if i get the stickers that line up ill leave it all in km
  10. sorry to highjack your thread a little, i have a vstar 650 which is an import.... but mine was imported by me(from canada), did you have to get a kph to mph cover/sticker thing, or did it come with one, as i cant find one thats for the vstar/dragstar??? i will also need a headlight but ill stick to the sticker thing for now joe
  11. most speedos are off by a bit, they are set to be so you dont get tickets, but age doesnt help, i've got a 99 vstar 650 and its not very acuret either, if its only 10k out i wouldnt bother doing anything, did you use a satnav to judge it, one of my old bikes going 30 on the satnav said 39 on the speedo, and that was mph!!!
  12. i've got a tool role on my star, i just walked into a bike shop and got one, not bike specific makes it very easy for people to nick stuff though
  13. yeah, by then end it was about a week and a half before i came home i stoped at a festival on deluna beach florida, where it was parked for 3 days, normaly i didnt stay anywhere that long i was using the lovelly white sand...... to collect the drip lol
  14. thats what i figured, just wondered if anyone with one knew of any specific things it would likely brake that i wouldnt spot, already got the pdf anyhow im in no rush, it isnt even registed, and my pile of other engines to fix is sizeable lol
  15. hello, you may not know me, ive been a member for about 12 mins now lol i came to seek knowledge of dragstars so i might make mine not be broken anyhow, ill try to keep this short i went to the us of a for a bike holiday, i bought a vstar 650 from canada for paperwork reasons rode it 12K (aprox 19000 km)miles around the us (well recamended by the way) and shipped my bike home (not recomended), but its imported, though not registed yet while out there i ran it almost dry of oil in 2 weeks, and from then on topped it up, but useing 10w40, as i couldnt find 10 30, i figured the wrong oil was better then none, anyhow i think i may have over filled it and it started leaking while i was there now back in the uk it has 4 brands of oil in it, plus whatever origional 10 30 oil was in there yes.... im stupid lol, i know better but, well oooops anyone know what i might have broken by over filling, i susspect a gasket on something it seems to drip off the where the gear leaver goes into the gearbox, but it is on a side stand bike is a 99 with 98K killometers (60K ish miles) on the clock and a puddle of oil under it chears in advice, sorry i didnt keep it short joe
