  1. Hi Guys, I'm back with another fault Thanks for all your help getting me back up and running in the past, I hope you can get me out of trouble AGAIN! I look the bike out at the weekend and when i put it back in the garage I noticed a tiny drip of coolant coming out of the bike, I found it to be coming from the water pump gasket, it was quite late on Saturday afternoon so knowing nowhere would be open to get a new gasket and wanting it back on the road for Sunday , i phoned my local Autopart place and got a sheet of gasket paper. I knocked up a new gasket and filled and bleed the system, everything went fine and i left it tick over for 20 min's to make sure there was no further leaks or any sign of overheating. Everything went great so took it for a quick spin down the road and when i came back I went to put it on its side stand and it cut out on me. Now my side stand cut out switch has never worked in the past so i raised the stand and it started again. Tried putting the stand down again but this time it didn't cut out,I tried a few more times and it didnt cut out either, so I leaned the bike about 30 degrees to the left with the stand still up and it cut out??? I had a quick look at the connections for all the electrics, (which on my bike are tucked up out the way just behind my YPVS servo motor)and as i touched the connectors it cut out. This time it won't start again! I cleaned all the connectors (as they were a bit green/blue on the terminals) But I am lost as to what I can do know. Tonight I think I will just cut off the connectors and make new connectors for them all as they don't look the best. Has anyone ever had a similar fault to this, and could point me in the right direction as what to do next? I will add more info tonight as I had to rush out on Saturday and didn't get anymore time to look at it then i had to spend the day with the misses yesterday so didn't get a chance to look at it. I know this is quite school boy posting before I have really looked at it my self, I don't even know if there is a spark!!!! But I thought I would post now just in case someone on here goes "I had that same problem it was........." Thanks in advance for your help Bindason

    TDR125 Carb

I ran it up and down my road to make sure I can get gears, and there was no knocking etc.... It ran like a dream so much better than it ever was. I cant work on it tonight so hopefully I will finish it off Friday night and then be back on the road by Saturday

    TDR125 Carb

SHE'S ALIVE!!! After managing to borrow a compressor from a friend I blew the bottom end out it fired up first try! Its a bit smokey but hopefully that will burn off and be okay after 5 mins, I will finish putting it back together now, I was just so excited it works I had to tell someone! Thanks for the help CBT and who ever posted that diagram/flash thing of how a 2 stroke works-sorry i forget who it was and it took me ages to find the first time and i'm desperate to get back out there and finish it off. Great site great help thanks again

    TDR125 Carb

I wouldn't say flooded but I think its pretty wet in there! Good plan I will ask the neighbour to borrow his trailer and get it to the garage and see if it will blow out. If not i think I will just pull the engine out again and drain it properly and then blow it out dry like you said. Thanks again for all the help

Ive got a Yamaha TDR125 on a 96 plate. I'm using it to practice for my test but its currently in the process of a top end rebuild (well maybe a bottom end too after i manage to split the lower barrel gasket and flooded the crank!)

    TDR125 Carb

Hi CDB The bike is on a 96 plate. I didn't mention but I made a huge school boy error when i fitted the lower barrel gasket and it ripped and leaked coolant into the crank, I drained what I thought was all of the water out and fitted a new gasket. I have just pulled the carb back off for another clean and i noticed the inlet rubber was soaked on the inside, so knowing it did have water in it I took the reed out and turned the engine over, water is still in the crank can see it when the shaft rotates, is there a way of draining the water out without taking the engine back out? I have looked for a drain plug but cant see one. I have no manuals for the bike and as I said i'm new to bikes, I didn't realise the fuel/air enters the crank before the cylinder. Any help would be really appreciated, sorry for not mentioning it earlier (bit embarrassing ) noobs dont you just love us

    TDR125 Carb

Hi guys I bought A tdr125 about 7 months ago as a non runner, i removed the carb and after 3 or 4 times cleaning it trough it finally fired up. It ran fine for 5 months and i hardly did anything to it, then one day the 2 stroke pump stopped working and i came to a abrupt stop, yep you guessed it the piston picked up in the bore and i had to strip it down and get the head skimmed, new piston and rings (bearing, gaskets etc...) This was the first time i have ever stipped a bike apart ( I am a car mechanic though)but thought well whilst i am doing the top end i might as well clean up the bottom end, and replace a few gaskets and new nuts and bolts throughout. I have it all back together now but it wont start, i have good compression (135) and a good spark, so i am guessing maybe my carb is knackered. I have tried pouring a little fuel into the engine (through the spark plug hole) it almost fires but just doesn't want to fire up. I have also tried bump starting it, this again nearly started but still wont fire up. Anyone got any sugestions as to what i can try next? I am guessing maybe the carb is completely knackered, as the air filter was full of crap and half the padding(foam) had come off it and obviously been sucked into the carb. Would just rejetting it get me out of trouble? or should i just swallow it and get a new carb?? If so any good plavces to pick up a new/pattern part carb? Its a PHBH28vs carb. Thanks in advance Mike
