  1. Thanks for your reply m8, that's the only thing i can think of as well, took the bike to work today so our mechanic can strip and clean my carbs next week,( if problem still there after anything else you think i should look into?) it was bad this morning top speed 45mph /25mph going up the hill , there's a strong smell of fuel as well when i got to work but couldn't see any fuel anywhere ... by the time i got to work(13mile run) back cylinder was still cold, so i'm guessing rear cylinder isn't working. when i put my hand in front of the exhaust pipe front is blowing hot rear is blowing cold. so any advise will be very welcome... never had so many problems with a bike! it''s starting to look good, just need to make run good!!
  2. Hi everyone, was going to get my carbs striped and cleaned next week, bike wasn't running right because of it, but now got worse...I have this problem since i run out of fuel... bike didn't run well but after a bit of being running got better and could do 70/80mph no problem, took the bike to the garage to get it sprayed and was running okish... but now can't get it over 45mph and is running really bad... if i try to put the choke on engine turns off , front cylinder is getting hot but back one takes a long time to warm up but doesn't get hot like the front one... by the way when i serviced the bike last week there was no fuel filter had a coper pipe in its place instead , so new fuel filter was fitted. but like i said the bike hasn't been running well for some time, just got worse now. checked the diaphragm on the carbs and they are ok... could it be that the rear carb is blocked and not letting fuel in?? there's pressure coming from both exhaust pipes and sounds like both cylinders are working, checked fuel pump and that's working as well, the only thing i knew was that i had a problem was with the carbs, needing cleaning...now even after a 10 mile run the rear cylinder is still just warm to touch wile the front one is hot and there's no power and top speed is 45mph ish. so help needed please... will be taking bike to garage tomorrow to be looked at Tuesday (carbs striped and cleaned)so all the advise will be very helpfull and welcome. cheers
  3. Just send you one back m8.
  4. They are two straight pipes you can see in my pics, make on them are Raask... they are in good condition all the chrome is very good they have baffles in them there's nothing wrong with them ... but I like the look of the standard ones, that's why I want to change them.
  5. Cheers .Have a new rear light coming for her next week... want to replace my aftermarket exhaust for standard exhaust (still looking for one) , looking to get forward controls , still need to get new indicators for the front same as the one on the back, and still haven't decided what to do with my wheels, try to polish them or getting them sprayed matt black or white ...I think that's it for now...
  6. Full service done today... and petrol tank got sprayed today as well... will be fitted tomorrow, can't wait!
  7. if you remove the pillion seat you end up with a bit of the frame showing that doesn't look great i've tried it... the only way to do it would be cutting the frame that i don't want to do... i do take my 8 year old daughter for a spin every now and then(sunny days, in the UK not many )(she loves it)but that's it, 90% of the time its just me... exhaust- I want to get original exhaust to replace my after market one... just haven't found one in good enough condition for money...
  8. I do like that seat...Very nice... guess that would be a custom made seat??
  9. petrol tank will be sprayed this week... and forward controls will be next on the list...
  10. New shocks now fitted and still have a 80mm gap between tyre and mudguard , even with me 80kg and my mate that is 90kg took her for a test ride there's no rubbing and no problems...and looks much better
  11. don't know if this link is going to work but if you look at the garage my first pic of my bike , can you see the gap i've got between the tyre and the mudguard... and now with the rear light removed it just looks very odd all that gap... http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/garage/vehicle/187-yamaha-xv535/page__tab__images
  12. with the shocks off my mates bike... ,so after testing it worked i bought some off ebay and I'm now waiting on delivery ...
  13. No we tested this and even with two people on it ( i'm 80kg and my mate with 70kg) with the shock on the harder setting( i never ride with pilion anyway ...) the tyre doesn't rub the mudguard and there's a gap to allow shock travel still, that's the reason i wanted shorter shock there's a big gap between the mudguard and the tire with the 320mm shocks and makes the bike look odd! i did look at different sizes before buying the 255mm shock.
  14. Decided to take your advice and scraped the strut idea and bought some smaller shocks for it (still waiting delivery, should arrive this week) changed from 320mm standard to 255mm hope it will be enough to achieve the look i want... had my mudguards and sides covers sprayed in panther metallic black, just waiting now for my petrol tank to be sprayed ...and new rear tail/brake light...
  15. i want to drop the mud guard down closer to the wheel that's the only way i can think of doing this without having problems with tyre rubbing inside the mud guard with the shock movement by getting shorter shocks, I've removed number plate and rear light from rear mud guard(number plate fitted on sissy bar with custom rear light) and had mud guard smoothed and resprayed but due to shocks there's a big gap between mud guard and tyre that doesn't look right so i was thinking to do something like this but without the rear light on the mud guard , this was the best pic i could find to try to explain what i'm trying to do...
  16. Hi was thinking of removing rear shocks and replace them with metal bars to make my bike a hardtail, seen some pics online of it done... has anyone done this and did u encounter any problems ? Cheers
  17. I know it's not my question, but it was very helpful for me, I'm looking to do the same forward controls and didn't find anything on eBay or anywhere else ,now I know where to get them, but I will try the advise given here and try to do it myself, £3/400 is a bit too much for me. Cheers
  18. With mine even after it was on charge all night it wouldn't start the bike and we're talking about a battery that was only a few days old, when I got a replacement under warranty it was perfect no more problem. That's when I was told a cell was gone in the other battery and that's why it wouldn't start the bike! There was enough power for the lights but that was about it...
  19. Had same problem with mine (93 xv535) got new battery and it would still not start, bump start fine and run fine, stop bike and wouldnt start again, got a new battery warranty and it's absolutely fine now, cell gone in the battery it would hold some charge but not enough to start it...
  20. Got plenty to do this winter, just going to wait for the weather to get worse and going to start striping her down so that I can get her ready for the good weather...will post some pics after finished... will need to find a standard exhaust as well if anyone know the best place to find one in good condition will be very helpful ( I'm looking on ebay any other places to look?) my after market not only is quite loud don't think it looks great they are too far apart and don't think will pass the MOT due to sound...
  21. I've tried autosol metal polish, wire brush and a very fine sand paper but the rear wheel there's quite a bit of rust,I thought power wire brush would damage the chrome and the wheel... will have a go and see... , if it doesn't work can always getting them sprayed... thanks for advise
  22. Moving from the bike colour To my wheels... They need work done on them too rusty to repair so was thinking about spray them too, black same colour of the bike or go White so it stands out???
