  1. Yes, well as we have come to find.......you're a special little boy! I think that you're keyring set up would be OK due to the weight. It's the flick flacking of the lighter tab type keyrings which is the problem. As I said before rapid, repeated flapping is what causes the damage and the weight of all that crap on you're keys won't allow that to happen, however there are circumstances where that stuff will not be a great idea. I stand by the original point though, whether Cheeku takes any heed is up to him, but the damage will happen if he doesn't.
  2. These are they............... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHROME-FRONT-FRAME-COVERS-DRAGSTAR-HIGHWAY-HAWK-/290509298282?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item43a3b41a6a
  3. Hello, Congratulations on the TDM 900, is a great bike. As for life expectency......most people have found that they start giving quite serious, expensive trouble around 8 yrs old, and I see that yous is a 2003 model, so that means....errr 1,2,3.....4,5......6,7.......ahhh, ermmmm, got to go now. Welcome along, hope you have some fun here.
  4. Really.....listen to me.......you'll be really glad you did in the long run.......soft or not it will mark the paint, and the black plastic cover where the key goes. It's really difficult to ge t good pictures in the dark (it's neary 10pm here in the UK) but have a look at these........ My bike has the Highway Hawk Stainless covers fitted to the ignition key area, can you see the radial marks in the stainless? These were made by a closed cell foam (Soft)key ring. Anything swinging about rapidly & repeatedly will cause this sort of damage. Honestly.....take the key ring off before it marks your new bike.
  5. Ooohh! You'll be a handy bloke to know!
  6. There's plenty of secondhand starters on Ebay in the states, http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_kw=XVS1100&_kw=starter&_cqr=true&_dmpt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&_nkwusc=XVS1100+dragstar+staarter&_rusck=1 Just need to pay the shipping, which isn't too much usually, and you might have to pay some inport duty, even with this added expence it'll be a whole lot cheaper than £700.00
  7. Ok then £250.000 it is! No no no, you misunderstand, I'm afraid I only speak English so listen carefully! Ttaskmaster is right of course and it ought to be worth £2500, but there's lots of them about and that one's not a sought after colour, and I'll have to MOT it and the rear tyre is looking a bit low, tell you what, £252.00 and I'll throw in the bus fare so you can get home after you have delivered it. Can't say fairer than that John
  8. XVS1100 dragstar, knackered starter .........I'll tell you what I'll do....... I'll give you £250.00 for it, and at that price I'm mugging myself Let me know how you want paying, and where to collect it from
  9. Ok......Just looked at the wear bars on the rear tyre of my XVS650 and I think it's about time I changed from slicks to intermediates. At present I have a Bridgestone 170/80/15 G702 R on the back which I'm quite happy with. What does everyone else run/recommend? I seem to have a choice between........ Bridgestone 170/80S15 BS G702 R = £ 112.04 Bridgestone 170/80S15 BS G546 R = £ 112.04 Avon 170/80HB15 AV VENOM R TL = £ 98.41 Continental 170/80H15 CO CM2 R TL = £ 116.48 Dunlop 170/80S15 DU D404 R TT = £ 123.12 possibly some others but my head's starting to swim now. Whad'ya reckon?????????
  10. Hmmm......should that read 'a YZF R6 that`s been waiting patiently in my Next door's garage' and 'I'm having a bit of bother with the alarm system'? Wire cutters, screwdriver and a crowbar is whats needed! Congrats on the test pass!
  11. Crikey! Nearly 10.00am and that's still early! I reckon you might be a candidate for organising the Christmas party!
  12. You'll have to post that in the 'Accesories - Genuine/non genuine luggage - fitting instructions - Yamaha only - Scotland' section (you'll find it on page 116, section 23, sub section 5) or you'll have the Post placement police after you! Be very careful around here.......it's a minefeild!
  13. Here's a site with mods for the 650's exhaust, pretty much the same for the 125, just take heed of pauls hole sizes as the 650 requires 3/8 inch (11mm...ish) holes. http://www.650ccnd.com/ht.htm
  14. What a Beauty, one thing though, take the red tag off your keys, it will swing around in the wind and mark the paint (voice of experience speaking!)
  15. Those H/H Fat pipes always sound great don't they. Did you re-jet or just bolt them on? This is mine by the way, no sounds as I don't have a digital video camera
  16. Sounds like you're going to be spending a lot more time at work, that shopping list is not going to be cheap.
  17. Good Job! The bike looks great in the video, as for the rider, do we all look the same? because that could have been me! It's a shame we couldn't hear the sound from those H/H Fat pipes though. Saddlebags...... I use boot polish on mine, but have found they go sort of white in places, almost like they've picked up some salt off the road, I assume it must be something in the rain bringing it out of the leather, just thought you had a secret formula.....the saddlebags being brand new helps I guess
  18. The links now work......however if you put at the end of the link, you get this...... Very nice 650, but those throttle cables look very tight.
  19. Nice clean example. What do you use polish wise to keep the saddle bags up to muster?
  20. Tried the link, but it tells me I don't belong.........nothing new there then
  21. Moring Zohan! Welcome, good luck with the hunt for that DT.
  22. Well, a G8 call, you've been around a while then. I got my 2E0 call 2 years ago and since then I haven't had the time to study for the Full licence. In reality I doubt I'll ever get An M0 call, but 50w gets me pretty much everywhere as I havce a great QTH in the Mendip hills and 136ft of wire. I am active on HF 80/40/20m most of the time, so when you're ready give me a shout. BTW, QRZ.com states you have an M3 call now, whats that about?
  23. I think you'll find that the Hypercharger will come with the recommended jetting kit supplied., and that will be the end of the problem. If not and you're worried, while you've still got the credit card in your hand (and she's yet to see the bill! ) get it set up properly by a bike shop. Mine seems fine, albeit without a hypercharger, I can't tell whether it it runs a little hotter or not, the pipes have gone a bit golden right at the exhaust port, but they're single skin chrome pipes, whereas the originals were unplated steel with chrome covers and shrouds, so who can tell? As for wear, well mines 13 yrs old and has only covered 13000 miles, so I think I've a bit of catching up to do anyway. Pics and a report on the hypercharger would be good, they've always seemed to be a lot of money for little return to me.
