  1. Your thoughts gentlemen or even can you point me in the direction of someone who is already doing this so i can place an order for one. It way well have been done before and i di not want to reinvent the wheel Ok then. I may well have found someone who would manufacture a system for the DT250. I have looked long and hard on fleabay and literally 100's of sites for the system to no avail, they really do seem to be as rare as rocking horse poo. Assuming i am not as dumb as a box orf rocks and there is someone sitting (uncomfortably) on a pile of dt 'spannies' and silencers and i am the only one who does not know about them then; Q1: If i could get someone to manufacture a pattern system based on the stock system would anyone be interested. Likely the more people interested then cheaper that will be. Q2 If i could get someone to manufacture a performance system (fresco-a-like) would this be of interest. Q3:What would people be prepared to pay? I am not looking to make money out of this but do know what value people would place in a new system v.s the cost to manufacture. I understand that realistically the first /prototype will be the expensive one and then the following ones will be just time and materials. I think getting together an order of 20 or so would make it worth while and cost effective - that is a back of a cig packet guestimate.
  2. The SAS speak very highly of them and ran them for a lot of the 80's. I had 4 of back in the 80's and they are great bikes, the engines are strong and really do the job. Speaking about the 'e' variant MX (monoshocks)1978 onwards and i only have experience of the UK variants - The differences between the 125 and 175 of the same vintage are few apart from the bore/piston/cylinder head. The carb is the same although requires re-jetting. the cases, crank gearbox are the same, both 6 speeders. casings should all interchange. If running with an oil pump then i would ensure you have the 175 pump fitted to a 175, this was always a grey area and tbh i often just junked them and ran premix. If the 123 engine is only a 5 speeder then it is likely from an older model, pre '78 and you might have problems with cases as it is a 5 speeder, not six so could be different. I ma sure someone wiser will be along to explain it better than i can. Good luck
  3. Hi, Mono, I will google 'Hagon' Is the rear monoshock as fitted to the 250 fitted to any other Yamaha models???
  4. Looking to buy a DT250MX and would like to know of any companies or individuals who can recon the mono-shock
  5. Lol - it was early(ish) and i hadn't had enough coffee - well that's my excuse anyway.
  6. Hi There, I have decided to get another bike, been without for 20 or so years having had a several DT & IT 175's back in the early 80's. I had a QZ 250e quad for 2 years which as fun but did not really scratch the itch for a bike so i have decided to get myself something approaching classic which i can restore, ride and enjoy. I am thinking a 79-81 DT250 MX as i have always wanted one since riding one when i was 16.
