  1. I dont know about you, but I dont think hes coming back....
  2. Hi all, Changed the chain and sprockets yesterday on my little SR 125 but in the process seem to have weakened the rear drum brake! Must admit, I dont have a lot of experience regarding drum brakes on motorbikes so could anyone enlighten me with the general way that you would adjust / reset the brakes to a useful strength again!? Thankyou!
  3. I cant tell the truth, he has spies everywhere! Must admit, if I ever have a daughter I think I'm going to live my days in denial. Tis the best way
  4. Being at my prime ripe age of 20, I would just like to question if every time I get a girlfriend their dads think these words? (minus the nicest bloke bit, insert what you will) Scary!!!
  5. I drive a little bmw 3 series and defend myself when people say "oh, you're one of them". But after riding out of clapham yesterday and nearly being knocked off by 4 cars, of which 4 were BMW's. I must agree with the topic. Yes I'm a wanker, I admit it. Pie
  6. Just to add my 2p's. When I turned 17 I bought a cheapo chinese CBR 125 replica for about £800 (lots of bartering involved!), looked alright, CG engine in it which was as slow as they come and eventually the panels started falling off as the vibrations shook it apart. Then a van pulled out on me and it looked a little worse from then on. On Friday I decided I was going to get back into riding again so booked my CBT for Sunday (£90), bought an Yamma SR 125 yesterday (£450) and Insured it (£250) and I'm on the road, for a little more than I paid for just the bike last time. I'm sad to say that the SR feels so much quicker (shocking!), safer and better put together. I honestly think for a little run around that I could scrape on a wall and not worry about they are perfect and pretty classic looking (my opinion). I did my CBT on a new YBR which didnt feel as quick and was very vibey! My personal opinion is that new geared 125's post 2003 are starting to imitate the bigger bikes with no substance to back it up and the essence of riding a little runaround is lost. Pie
  7. Thanks Gordo, apart from the snail type chain tensioner on the SR 125 do you know of it is possible to move the rear wheel back further still? I honestly cant see any way it can unless I'm being stupid? On my old CBR it was just a matter of moving the wheel by turning a screw at the end of the swingarm! The reason I ask is that I should be travelling into London later on today, and the car adds another 2 hours onto the round journey... baaa Pie
  8. Sorry mate its difficult to describe it fully! Its got one of those snail type chain tensioners (hope that makes sense!?) and yes its as tight as it'll go! I must admit, the sprockets do look a little worn, and the chain is hanging possibly 2 inches more than it should do i'd think. I've ordered a new chain and sprockets for £35 and the tool (£35!!)... Anyone else ever feel conned with tools? Any tips I should know for changing these items over? As said, I can replace a car engine but bikes are a new entity to me! Thanks
  9. Hi all, New to this forum, but have been browsing around anonymously for weeks! Basically I'm an aspiring biker, hopefully getting through my 'big bike' tests in the next few months. Yesterday I went out and bought a little SR 125 'R reg' for £450, it has 20,000 miles on it and drove sweet when I took it out so thought I had a deal! This morning I have pulled out of my drive, full throttled it and the chains just bloody popped off. After taking off the covers to see the front sprocket its obvious the chain had come off there. I've put it all back on but it does seem the chain is very loose at the moment. If the chain comes off, and jumps under hard (as hard as you can get on a 125!?) acceleration does this mean new sprockets and chain are required? Bit annoying, so much for cheap carefree motoring! I've spent years playing with cars so not adverse to a little DIY, but annoying as I want to be out on my new bike!! Pie
