    DT 175 MX

Hi, any help gratefully received. Have just replaced the guts of the carb with a Keyster refurb kit. All sizes were the same as the ones I took out yet now I cant get any adjustment from the air , or idle screws ; turning them either way makes no difference, yet it idles fine at about 1300 and revs (in neutral) no bother. Engine is standard. Any thoughts? Cheers
  4. Chief, I think you could have nailed the problem. Post if you have any luck
  5. You could do, it really does point to battery trouble, but it may be the regulator/rectifier not charging the battery up enough. If you try a new battery first, and its fine for a while, then slowly looses its charge then I would suspect the rectifier, or a dodgy earth. Trial and error I suppose. Good luck
  6. Shagged battery/ charging circuit.
  7. Eroded !...what, by sea water? Chief, unless you are only going to pay ten bob for the beast, and have great gearbox rebuilding skills then I would walk well away. First gear is probably knackered through abuse. Cheers
  8. If you are coasting to a stop and then trying to knock it down through the box(from say 5 th gear) when stationary it is bound to be a bit notchy/awkward. This is normal. You'd be better changing down into the right gear before stopping. Most gearboxes dont like this . If your worried take it back to the dealer as already advised.
  9. Chief, there is definately only one bleed nipple ( I assume you have the standard Blue spot calipers ). If your having trouble bleeding them try setting up a syringe to draw the fluid down rather than pumping it through.
  10. Can't find my receipt but the guy trades on ebay as " biskenso 2007", running a shop called escortmotorparts store. I've had a few bits now and no probs
  11. Cant remember off hand, but will dig out. The price was plus postage but that wasn't too expensive
  12. Ian, second hand they go for silly money on ebay, but when I wanted one earlier this year I eventually got one from Thailand off ebay. Works great , cost about a tenner, and was actually delivered within a week. I dont know if Yam sell them anymore but no doubt they will be expensive. Hope this is of some use. Cheers
  13. Cheers to both of you for the advice. I think you confirmed what I was thinking about the price; does'nt stop me wanting the bugger though...
  14. Hi, Im seriously thinking of buying a 1989 EXUP. Just wondered if any owners can enlighten me as to the weak points or things to look out for; its up for £2000, is this price about right? Its a 1 owner and apparently in good nick. Thanks

    DT 175 MX

Who knows. Perhaps your right; I've assembled the bike from parts.... only rode it 'round the back lanes near where I live , though it does seem to steer/ride ok. I was informed from Redrose Bikes that there are two different sizes to the kickstart shaft; just thought someone could clarify. Cheers

    DT 175 MX

It fowls the brake lever 'cos it fowls it. I have had to grind down the thickness of the brake pedal to enable the kickstart to clear it when kicking it over 'God knows
  17. As usual....the cunts who cause the 'crime' get away scot free. I wonder what would occur if I parked my car blocking a fire station?

    DT 175 MX

Hi, help needed. I'm wondering if any one knows the length (end to end) of the kickstart shaft. I've heard there are two different lengths. Mine is about 116 mm, but is too short and fouls the rear brake lever. Any advice appreciated. Cheers
  19. Take it back to the yam dealers. It obviously is'nt right
  20. Chief, I'll lay odds on that its your bulb; the two filaments that light up on high beam are supposed to do so. You'll get a rev counter bulb at a yam main dealers. Cheers
  21. Spray inside the switch with WD40, you dont even need to take it to bits Cheers

Chief, I had a similar problem with my dt. Best advice I can give is to bin the pattern cable. The routing will not affect the pump setting; it is the internal length of the pump part of the cable which does this, yours, like mine was, is too short. Bin the fuckka. Be sure to set the pump minimum stroke length, this is just as important. Cheers
