  1. Hello & welcome. My wife had the same bike back in the late 80's. I got pulled up by the Police on the M62 on my way back from Manchester,(I'd borrowed it.) The reason they gave me was "It doesn't look like your bike, you look wrong on it, it doesn't seem big enough for you !" A guy near Stirling recently offered me a couple of XS's in boxes,(incomplete) But ain't convinced the wife that they are a good idea.
  2. I had an XS500 (Mine was the C, a strange beast.) Rather over complicated engine if I remember correctly. It took me an ages to source all the parts I needed & then someone broke into my Mum's shed in St.Helens, Merseyside & nicked it . Anyway I was going to point you towards some of the places I sourced my bits from but I notice you'er in the States so probably not of much use, but I will offer advice if or when it's required. (& hopefully it may help!?) Don't forget to upload pics, (before & after will be good.) Is the US version anything like the UK ones ?
  3. Thanks for the welcome, TBH I'm not really a Jota fan I have a 1200 Mirage (a 180, that sounds & feels like nothing else.) & I ain't had an off since the late 80s (sheet ice in Vulcan Village.) & I'm a year round biker so not bad. Originally I'm from St.Helens but I now live in Scotland.
  4. Yeah that's what I thought, (thanks for the pic btw) If I get enough evidence confirming our suggestions then I'll list them as YAS3 or AS3 (Whichever is the correct way of listing that model.)
  5. Hello, I'm not exactly a new forum member but I haven't exactly been active so I thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Scotland. I have an XJ900F (Amongst many other bikes.) which I will be using again soon when my son nicks my K1100LT off me when his two years on his 350 are up. I'm a year round biker,(have been for thirty odd years.) & I am a qualified motorcycle mechanic, though tbh I ain't worked on any proper modern bikes, & I don't work in the bike industry. Bikes of the 70s.80s & even 90s are my thing.
  6. And secondly there is a left hand engine casing.
  7. Hello again, My friend is emigrating to Australia this month & has given me much of his old bike related stuff. However there are a couple of items that I can't 100% identify the exact Yamaha models that they are off. I would like to know so I can list them & get some money together to give to him. Firstly there is a Petrol Tank, I think it's a YAS3 my mate thinks it's YDS3 (surely not !?) Could some of you "old" (or young) boffins please help me to ID it so I can list it properly.
  8. X7 at 17, XS750 2D at 19, XJ900F at 45. (And literally dozens of bikes inbetween.) My Pride & Joy is my Laverda 1200 Mirage but my recently acquired XJ900F is fantastic. (I will be seeking much info over the coming months/years, all XJ900F input will be welcome. )
