I'm thinking its fine, but I think I will take it into Hein Geriche (Where I bought it), see if it needs checking out.... Cheers....

    Lid Damage

This morning I put my rucksack and lid (Arai Astro-R) on the floor while I wheeled out the bike and turned the engine over. I didn't realise that the lid was sitting on part of the bag straps until I picked the bag up and the lid rolled around a bit, glancing a brick wall. I wasn't worried at the time, as I hadn't dropped it or anything and it just rolled around. However, putting the lid on this evening at work, I noticed a scrape on the top of the lid. Its only small, about 3mm long, maybe 1mm across, but its gone through the paint - so I'm guessing its scratched the outer shell. Should I be worried about it? My first thought was that it was just a scratch, but I thought I should ask around...
  3. You've only been riding 5 months!! You Nutter! Niiiiice bike, btw!
  4. I'd go for that in yellow... ..were it not for all the people lining up to say 'no'. bank manager, insurance people...
  5. At the moment I wear textile jacket & trousers, boots & gloves, but I've heard good things about these Airflow jackets (Spada?). Was put onto them by a couple of bike instructors so got to be worth a look. Having said that, thats the kit I wear all year round as at the moment it *is* my riding kit..
  6. Pushing my bike along to park it up for the night I noticed a scraping noise coming from what sounded like the brake caliper. I put the bike up on the centre stand and pushed back on the bike so I could turn the front wheel. It definitely sounds like a fairly regular scraping noise is coming from the caliper. I'm wondering if it could be the front pads catching on the disk or something? I've had a search on the net to see if I could find out any helpful information about changing the brake pads as I figure that should be the first step, but couldn't find anything. Is it fairly straightforward, or should I just find a local specialist to take it to? TIA, Stax.
  7. Managed to remove the bolt with a pair of mole grips and a bit of perserverance. Made a mess of the bolt though...
  8. I've heard of a guy who put an Audi TT 1.8T engine and quattro running gear into a Clio. Genius thing about it was he used a 1.2 RL model as the base, wheel trims all round, left the badges on too! Apparently the engine bay was stuffed full though, battery in the boot, etc! There was also talk of a similar car with a roof rack, etc.!
  9. Hi, I'm trying to remove a stuck bolt from my SR 125 (See my other thread..). However I figure once I remove it there's no way I'll be able to re-use it. So I've been trying to see if I can source a replacement. I've contacted a few breakers, etc. and done plenty of searching of parts websites. I've also run across a couple of sites just selling various bolts. So I'm wondering if I can just find an equivalent bolt from Pro-Bolts or someone and if I can just use that, instead of sourcing a brand new bolt or finally finding one from a breakers. How can I find out what sort of bolt I'm after? Is there a parts list I can look at online or anything? I've only got the Owners manual (Although I'm currently bidding on a Haynes manual on ebay) which is a bit light on technical specifics. I was basically wondering if I've got a fairly generic bolt and if I could just replace it fairly easily... Thanks in advance...!
  10. Thanks for all the replies, I'll have to have another go at it and I'm sure I'll get it out one way or another. Although I think I'm going to try and get a replacement bolt first so I can at least finish up the oil change when I'm done destroying this bolt. And besides, what kind of metal is this bolt supposed to be made of? I know its not supposed to be done up very tight, but it virtually disintegrated as soon as I put the allen key to it!
  11. Not having a lot of luck with the bike at the moment... I decided to give it an oil and air filter change as I noticed the oil level was too low. So I drained the oil out of the engine and started on removing the oil filter cover. Eventually got the two screws holding the top of the cover off, but I'm having problems with the third bolt. Its basically a bolt you undo (or not) with an allen key. Its only supposed to be done up to 10Nm (AKA hardly anything) but seems to have been done up a lot tighter. Basically I couldn't shift it and have ended up rounding it out. So any ideas on how I get it off? Its grooved around the outside of the bolt but I haven't had any luck using pliers on it. Thanks in advance...
  12. That makes sense, given its location at virtually the bottom of the silencer. Glad I didn't just fill it in with exhaust gum!
  13. Hi, I've been having a tinker with the SR125 today, as recently I noticed the exhaust was blowing from roughly where the silencer joins the exhaust pipes. I thought there was a hole around the weld or something like that. However, when looking into it a bit more, there is a small hole but it doesn't look like a rusted hole. Its probably about 2mm in diameter and doesn't look like its there as the result of rust, being perfectly circular. Rather than just plugging it with exhaust gum, I thought I'd ask first, see if there's a reason for it. Have only got the owners manual rather than a workshop manual, so it doesn't really cover it. So can anyone help?? Cheers...
