  1. Dont buy 'Bike it' bike covers . . . Thier crap. Ive had two off them in a month and both have come apart at the seams and the wind gets in and rips them apart leaving my bike open to the elements. If the covers are this bad, whats the rest of thier product range like . . . As cheap and nasty as the covers i suspect ! Give them a wide birth !
  2. I ride a 97 TDM and cant disagree with anything said allready. Good all-rounder......... i would rather have my little pocket rocket on the road though for the fun factor. The only real downside to the TDM is when you want to work on them. Its not the best designed bike ive worked on, i get the impession that its designed with the local bike dealer in mind. Its not home mechanic friendly. Ive been a mechanic for 20 years and only ever worked on my own TDM so i guess their reliable aswell....... Enjoy !
  3. Ive got the '98' TDM and as far as i know its the same bike essentially. The battery is just one job that seems over complicated. Seat only, needs to come off, you need to remove the pump from the frame cross member under the seat [directly above the battery] and wriggle the battery around to get it out through the gap. The only other option i could think off was to drop the whole rear end out, but the way i discribed is alot easier..........

I bought my '98' TDM 850 when my FZR went bang. I payed 600 notes and to be honest, as a bike mech i think its an awful bike to work on and the design seems to be along the lines of how they could force it all into the smallest area possable . . . i dont enjoy working on it ! Riding is a different thing alltogether. My only dissapointment with the ride is the petrol consumption when you give it some stick . . . it seems to double ! Good allrounder, but i had more fun on my FZR 6 . . .
