  1. Thread hijacking at its best! Just ordered 2 pilot sporty's for £115 including fitting at my local shop, didnt think that was too bad. I am saving for a bigger bike but need to keep this for a year to start the no claims, just looking to spend a little money on it to make it a pleasurable ride, i know its never going to be fast but there are always improvements to be made! Any more ideas welcome,
  2. Hi there, Interestingly i am in a very similar situation to you! Riding the YBR on L plates until i get round to the test this summer. I have done a fair bit of research into mods for the YBR but haven't come across any longer mirrors! I suffer the same problem and am not all that wide so it must just be a design fault on them. Fitment doesn't look that rare, i believe its a 10mm standard thread so a quick search of aftermarket mirrors may find some more suitable for you! Have fun biking (hopefully with good rear vision!)
  3. Thanks for the advice uzi, not really a LED kinda guy so il stick with just the wheel and bulb upgrades first, where did you get the bulb from? was it an ebay job, as they all seem to be hong kong sellers and im not sure if cheap bulbs are the way to go! Will set about trying to find a good price on these tyre too, unless anyone knows where to point me already? lol Those two bits only use up half my budget, though i would spend a bit on this bike and get some enjoyment out of it as im gunna keep it for a year now to build up my no claims on something small. Still open to any other ideas for good mods! Cheers
  4. Hi guys, got a little bit of money lying about (Not enough for a new bike before anyone suggests it!) and am looking to upgrade the YBR a little. I was thinking of 2 new tyre's and a Xenon bulb upgrade (As i do often ride at night) and then ran out of ideas! I have heard that pilot sport and city demon are both quite good, anyone rate one over the other? Got naff nylon ones on there at the mo so i think anything will be an improvement! Also what else can be done to a YBR to spruce it up a little? Sure some of you biking veterans have more ideas than me. Any input welcome!

Anyone know then if the power restriction has been raised or if i have to do a theory test if i already have done a recent car one with hazard perception?

    Insurance help guys!

Update: got it down to £173 TPFT with "Just motorbike insurance" Trying to get out of the swinton policy that my dads with to switch to this one because swinton wanted over 350 with me on there! AND check this out, they are trying to charge me to cancel this policy, above and beyond what was originally paid for the year even though its only 1 month into the policy! I am going to try and find a way around this tomorrow as i think that's just insane. Swinton are the biggest bunch of robbing buggers i have ever dealt with, i shall never be using them again that for sure! Others looking for insurance beware!!
  7. Ive have been told the following information: It is underneath the bottom, front center of the carb. Start with it about one and half turns out from bottom and adjust it in or out until you get the fastest smoothest idle. Often if the air screw has little effect it means your carb or jets need cleaning. Also check that the choke cable is adjusted okay. Not my words but i hope this helps, also depends what year your bike is as the later fuel injected models 2007-on have idle and choke management systems i believe. Good luck

    New motorbike test

I think so mate as long as you have already done your A2 test and its under 33bhp (or Kw can never remember which!)
  9. Im new to biking and this forum myself and have found this forum a fantastic source of information in my short two weeks of being a member! I have had a fantastic response from the guys on here already (Thanks by the way!), no need to slate the forum or its members mate, bad form!
  10. Hi there, im quite new to biking and this forum. I passed my CBT a few weeks ago looking to insure myself on a 07 YBR, i am still in the process of looking for sensibly priced insurance! Im now thinking of taking my full test but it has just changed. Does anyone know any details of the new test? Ive had a look at the DSA website and its not all that clear, ive heard that the new restriction will be 44bhp for 4 years and that i wont have to take a theory/hazard test as i already have a full car test under my belt. Is any of that true? Any help much appreciated guys. CJ

    Insurance help guys!

The YBR must be a higher risk that other 125's, very odd! Somthing like a honda ca125 rebel is nearly half the price?!? I have an Oxford Harcore chain which appears to make the same difference to the quote as the almax, thanks for the tip though! Its odd that im a year older you uzi_999 at 21 with 4 yers NCB on a car and no points yet am still getting crap quotes! Crazy world we live in! Cheers for your help guys, keep it coming and il keep searching!

    Insurance help guys!

Can you remember which broker and insurance company that was with? At 21 with the same bike TPFT i should be able to get a similar or better deal surely! Cheers

    Insurance help guys!

Thanks for the advice, i got £185 with the "just bike insurance" you suggested, is that sensible as a second rider with someone with 30 years riding experience? Anyone who has got insurance around my age or with just a CBT i would be grateful to hear if you found any good deals anywhere! Cheers guys

    Car insurance?

In my experience mate, go with admiral and put on 3 female drives older than you as named drivers with lots of NCB. This brings your policy down even if they dont use your car and means you instantly start building up NCB (well worth starting asap). Also once you have found the best price on the net by tweaking your millage, excess and drivers then call them up and argue the toss, i nearly halved mine this year by calling them up and challenging everything they say, you have to have some phone confidence for this though! Where did you get motorbike insurance on a 350 so cheep mate? trying to get insured on a 125 and cant even get prices that good!!!! If anyone is good with bike insurance id be really grateful of some tips over at: http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15832 Good luck with your car policy mate, search online for insurance groups to find the cheapest cars too. Cheers CJ
