  1. I have a stock xt350 which runs great , is there any big bore kits out there or are there any other ways of getting more power from these engines??????????????????/

depends on what year it is, early XT's made about 30+BHP and later ones were restricted to around 20 odd BHP but i tink it's easy to derestrict them.

  2. 3 members are celebrating their birthday today

    EddyIrish(68), Manc*col(30), martyntzr(32)

  3. Hi all

First post on this forum but ive been reading through the posts for the last couple of weeks, its great!

So..... ive been restoring a SR-125 to use instead of my car now petrol is getting so expensive and im just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the center stand as mine is bent and needs some tlc.

I cant for the life of me work out how to remove it.

    Thanks in advance

    Rob

Hi Rob, where ya based ??

  4. well back in 91' i bought a brand new XT125 (a more old skool design tan the XT125R !) and got some more ponies by removing the plate that fits between the carb and the engine, the plate has a hole in it but it can be enlarged to free the horses....... :D but i don't know if the newer bikes are the same design?

  5. hi i got a 1997 dt230 lanza and i cannot get it to start. Does anyone know how i can attach a kick starter to the bike and what parts i need (obviously a kick starter) but what sort and other bits required etc

    thanks

any pics of this bike please ?

  6. i have a 1993 yamaha 650 max, it has been setting in a inside storage for over 20 years. when it was put up the motor was not stored right. it only has 1400 miles on it. i am trying to get it to run again. the problem is it seems to be froze up. i have pulled the plugs and put mystery oil in the cylinders with no luck. i have pulled the starter and carbs also. i can not find any where on the motor where i can use a wrench to break the motor lose. i try to bump it in gear to see if it will turn over but that dosen't seem to work. i can't imagine it is frozen that bad. any advise would be appreciated. i prefer not to pull the head if possible. thanks in advance. grm

try a socket on the end of the bolt that secures the generator, this should turn it over but i suspect the rings are seized to the bores and you would be better off removing the top end and doing and inspection and renewing the rings and possibly the valve stem seals too. good luck, wick

  7. I have a R6 (53 plate) which has suddenly developed the dreaded TPS (throttle position sensor) fault, basically the engine keeps cutting out luckily this has only happened while idling usually sat at lights in neutral, I've spoken to my local yamaha dealer who initially told me there was a product recall on my model, I've also read various posts on the R6forum detailing the same problem, one particular guy had a major accident due to the engine cutting out during an overtaking manoeuvre which resulted in the poor fellow clipping an oncoming car and is now unable to ride ever again! After speaking to Yamaha themselves apparently the R6 was never recalled with this problem it was the FZR that had the problem hmmmmm!!!

Why is there so much confusion between Yamaha and the dealers and why are they not singing from the same hymn sheet and why the hell are they not listening to the guys riding the bikes, I cannot believe that this is a coincidence!!!

I've now gotta fork out £150+ to get a new TPS fitted, thanks Yamaha! I love my bike but with the lack of post sales service and confusion from Yamaha I'm seriously considering buying a Honda next time round!!!

Anybody else experienced the TPS problem?

ok it doesn't mention anyting bout R6's but look at this.

  8. After 17,000 miles of running well, my TRX850 has started to run rich on both cylinders. It is rich enough to foul the plugs and cause misfiring at low revs. I believe the ignition is ok as it appears fine at higer revs I have changed the plugs and air filter, checked that the chokes are not sticking, renewed the choke mechanisms, cleaned the carbs several times, but they look spotless anyway, checked the diaphragms and throttle position sensor and checked for a blocked carb breather. I suspect that the bike has been dynojetted but as it was running fine before this problem this should not be part of the problem. I have run out of ideas, any suggestions would be more than welcome.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

Hi it more than likely worn 'emulsion tubes' as they fail on TRX's and TDM's alot.

  9. It's called a rich cut. The carb is overfuelling so needs a service.

prolly caused by worn needles and emulsion tubes (a common problem with TRX's, TDM's and XTZ's.)

try www.carpe-tdm.net fer info and pics on how to replace these items. WiCkY

  10. how ya, i had a new XT125 back in 1991 that was restricted so i removed the carb (but left it hanging by the throttle cable) and then removed the metal plate that fits atween the carb and the enjun, twas where the restriction was ya see, all i did was enlarge the hole in this metal plate and hey presto i had full power.

  11. Hi the XTZ is a good bike but they can burn/use alot of oil, strip their output shaft and loose the front sprocket, and the frames can crack in extreme cases. the bike you need is a TDM 900 as they are excellent and cheap to buy (in the uk anyway)and are great on the road and good enough on a dirt track.

  12. Just wondering if anyone knows if a TDM850 engine will fit into a 96 TRX frame?

    Are they compatible?

yes a 1996-2001 TDM 850 enjun will slot straight in. i hope ya got it sorted.
