Recently bought my first motorcycle, a 2011 yamaha ybr 125. I rode it a bit at the dealership and everything seemed okay; I have since taken it from london to durham on the back of a trailer (unfortunately I left it in neutral which I have been told isn't ideal). It has since developed an issue with the gearbox where sometimes (not everytime) it won't go from neutral into first gear. This is obviously rather dangerous as I can't pull away at junctions and am sometimes left stuck. This is a particularly odd issue as it only sometimes woun't shift gear and the problem becomes more significant the longer I ride the bike; for the first mile and a half there are never any issu…

I’m in a world of hurt right now. Torquing down the cylinder on a ‘79 dt175 last night and I sheared off the top of a cylinder nut in the process. I thought I’d just leave it as I was just about at the 27# as per clymer recommendation until this morning when I noticed a piece of the cylinder base on the garage floor. I’ve been working out but I mean come on, I’m not that strong lol. A now I can’t get the damn cylinder off (bolt or nut extractor??) and I’ve got to buy a beer cylinder as I’m going to guess they’re not going to reimburse me for this one. Yes I did crisscross my torquing every few pulls on the wrench. Has anyone ever done this?! Any recommendatio…

We’ve tried everything, ether in spark plug hole, mix in the spark plug hole, nothing works. Replaced spark plug, stator, flywheel, CDI. Originally we had no spark but now we do and it still won’t start. It’s getting gas and has compression so what is the problem!?

Bought a yamaha aerox off a friend that has been sitting for about 4 months. They bought it for £600 and in 2 weeks it broke down turns out the side stand got bent and went through the air filter then before he noticed that he jet washed it. He didnt know anything about mechanics and couldnt really be bothered to get it fixed and pay for it so he just left it sitting. I bought it off him for £90 and got a new air filter. I also removed the exhaust and because it was so rusty from being old it snapped in half so I bought a new exhaust (Technigas Q-Tre). After kick starting it for 4 or 5 days for hours straight it suddenly started up and was working and everything but was v…

Hi, I have a yamaha dt50mx 1987 (Twostroke). And i didn't drive it at winter time so i let it sit. Today when i started it in months i heard a weird whistling sound from the engine area. It Gets louder as i rev it up. And I have checked for leaking air damaged gaskets as well as the airfilter and it sometimes stops getting spark and it stalls. And i changed the oil the day before. Video of the sound:

Hi, can anyone recommend someone who can repair crank cases? The nearer to Yorkshire the better please. Have a couple of DT175 cases that need some welding. There's been issues with parts coming loose internally and wreaking havoc adding new oil galleries, couple of small holes. Also, it appears that some idiot has split them with a hammer and a screwdriver, chipping and denting the casing and ruining the flush fitting. Those sorts of repairs 😬 Thanks in advance.

Has anyone had a problem with removing the little hoses between cylinder and carb and putting blanks? What kind of temperature would cause a problem I think it would run better without because it would be cooler air so more power

hi all i hope everyone is well. Im doing a little project with with an Aprilia RX50 moped 1998, AM6 engine 70cc metrakit cylinder 21mm quality carb. The bike runs perfectly when warm but when starting and after taking choke off it runs fast about 3000rpm until it has a little heat in it. probably two minutes. The engine was rebuilt 5 years ago did a thousand miles and then stood for a number of years. is it possible the crank seals have hardened and letting in a little air when cold? anyone have any other ideas? or is this completely normal? also does anyone know if the crank seals can be replaced on the AM6 without splitting the cases?…

Hi Peeps, just bought a XS 360 from DK, before I strip it down to tart it up I would like to get it running. I have put on a new battery and points, cleaned the carbs, checked the timing and I have a spark but I cannot get the bike to start. It is a kickstart model, I’ve had it running for a few seconds on one cylinder but that’s all. Any ideas what to try next. Thanks Chris

Hi Guys, new to this forum and new to bikes, thanks for any help in advance. just purchased a 2019 mt07 with 3000kms. I have two things I need help with: 1. My oil looks milky in the oil glass and thick, and when I dumped some in a pan, it looked cloudy and thick An slightly milky. 2. In my overflow there is white flakes at the bottom quite a lot infact but no oily residue. My concerns are above, and this is a fairly new bike any help would be greatly appreciated. It has apparently had its first service Recently Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I have an 85 Maxim XJ700N. bought it a couple weeks ago. Due to it sitting for over a year I was doing some check up on it. Did compression and spark test and pulled the carbs to check for corrosion in the bowls. Well I couldn't get the carbs back on. so I figured I would take cyl 1 and 4 Intake boots off and put them on the carbs myself so I'm only pushing onto the middle 2 boots. well one of the bolts for the cyl 4 intake boot broke. I tried using a welder to get a nut on the end and losen it but it would not budge and the nuts would just come off. I suspect I'm just still not good at welding. so I turned to extractors. after getting a little into the bolt with a Tit…

Hi, recently signed up as a new member. Desperately seeking advice replaced ignition barrel on a ybr, but after connecting it blew a fuse, realised that it was due to the shop ordering me the carburettor type. I’ve modified the wires and bike now lights up, horn, indicators etc, but will now not turn over on the button or kick start. What’s the difference between the 2 different types of barrels and can I adapt the wrong one to make it work. Really appreciate any help, it’s driving me nuts.

Hey folks, have read through a few forums on here and think I am having an issue yall are pretty familiar with. Hoping for a simple fix. I recently purchased a 2008 650 V star from a family member who had it in her garage for the last few months. six months or so without being started or anything. So I know the fuel was trash and the lines needed flushing and the jets in the carb needed cleaning. Immediately got to work. Drained the tank, removed speedo, removed tank, removed air box assembly, removed carb, cleaned jets meticulously, allowed jets to soak for a while in carb cleaner and wiped everything down/blew it out. Bought new o rings and gaskets and re assembled. Rep…
