Hey all been a while since I’ve been on here. I picked up a 1979 rx125 that had been under someone’s house for many years. 29000km on the clock. Seized front brake hydraulics. Totally worn out chain and sprockets. Engine has compression but crank seals have been leaking as gearbox oil was low. Bike has compression and spark but will tear down the engine and rebuild it properly. have been degreasing parts in ultrasonic cleaner and just generally tidying it up. so far I’ve rebuilt front brake hydraulics front forks. Replaced front and rear wheel bearings and seals. New sprockets. New tyres. I went with Bridgestone g511 front and rear. …

Hello, I've started working on a scrambler project, using a xj600. https://yourimageshare.com/ib/OxSQ6TcdyQ https://yourimageshare.com/ib/2w25wi8qqg But I have hit somewhat of a problem. My tyres are 110-80-17 and 130-70-18 and I can't find off road tyres with those sizes. I was thinking of using 120-90-17(not tubless) and 130-80-18(tubeless) instead. Would this work? Any thoughts? Thank you.

Hi everyone! Took apart my engine to diagnose an issue with water in the oil. Think I found the culprit... What do you think; metal compound, weld or complete trash? https://ibb.co/GvXLKnX

Is it possible to mate a 1300cc xvs crankshaft, pistons, cylinders, performance cams, and heads to a 1986 Virago 1100cc crank case and put it in a 1982 Yamaha Virago xv920 frame? I know it is possible to use a 920cc virago crankcase with the xvs 1100cc crankshaft, rods, pistons, cylinders and 750 virago heads and performance cams for higher compression, and that will get it close to 85-90h.p. on premium. That is my plan as of now. However, how close are the crankshaft and top end of the 1300cc xvs to the measurements of the 1100cc xvs components? Specifically height in the frame and will a 1300xvs crankshaft fit an 1100xv crankcase? I would love to put as big …

Hi I'm looking for some help ! i have just bought a project , its a hard tail chop with a 1995 Xj 600 engine sat in it with the loom and that's it . I'Ve got it running and have got a set of 4 into 1 pipes on it now , it starts quite well on choke and will tick mover quite nicely but when you open the throttle it dies /cuts out if you gently open the throttle it will rev sort of but not a clean constant rev ! there are pipes on the carbs which aren't connected to anything I'm guessing these went to the air box ( i don't have the room for that ) nor have i a fuel pump ,im hoping gravity fed from the new tank will suffice any help would be most helpful as its been 30 odd…

Hi I'm after some help and advice as I'm in the process of putting my XJ600 back on the road after 12 years not being used. I've got a new battery fitted and most of the electrics seem to be working but when I try to start the bike all I get is the oil light coming on which is expected but nothing else happens. I have found some cut wires which maybe from mice so I'm in the process of tracing all the wires in the loom for anymore damage. Any advice or hints/tips would be grateful

Hi, hope you can see the images ok. I recently bought an RXS100 1993 which needs a bit of work. I sourced a standard exhaust off Ebay to replace loud aftermarket Kenzo exhaust it came with (RXS exhausts seem like hens teeth so I just went for it when this one came up on Ebay). The silencer had some extensive surface rust on the underside which I have started to clean up with wet and dry - it is looking much better now (see before and after images) but it is still quite pitted. The silencer is still really solid. I was thinking of maybe getting it professionally re-chromed as long as it's not too expensive (I've seen some websites where you have to send the exhaust off …

Some of you may have seen this restoration blog on a couple of forums thought I'd let the rest of you Yamaha Nuts have a look Here are pics of the bike as bought, it had stood in a barn since 1992 has 2 owners (brothers) so it's been in the same family since new 1) How the bike was found 2) Rare seat intact!! 3) The bike back home 4) Father Ted Number Plate! 5) Original mileage The bike was stripped down carefully and salvageable parts identified and sorted for rechroming. The Fuel tank held about a gallon of fuel from the bikes last use, Four Star fuel does not smell nice after fermentation for sixteen years the tank was cleaned and sent down to Custom P…

Hello, I've been a yammy man for a long time, since my first 350YPVS back in the very early nineties, I've built countless specials over the years and more recently I've been working through my bucket list, buying tired but low mileage cosmetically challenged bikes and restoring them back to mint original perfection, doing everything myself in my domestic garage, fabrication, plating, painting everything. I've always loved the unloved underdog, nothing better than stuffing an underpowered bike past a wobbly sunday barstool racer on his 'superbike' So I'd been half looking for a SZR660, they've always interested me, a nice single in a small light good handli…

This is my first full bike restore so im a total noob here. I'm hoping someone can help out with the following: 1. manuals/wiring diagrams 2. missing parts: accelerator pump (or a full mikuni carb if can't get pump alone), seat, top end gaskets, chain (not sure recommended chain), all lights excluding the headlight 3. do i need a battery to run all electrical appliances or is it possible to not rely on battery? Thanks, and apologize if there are any stupid questions here.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the club and this is my 1st post and hopeful some of you have better knowledge than me. im just starting to completely refurbish a 1980 DT175 MX and wondering about the frame colour? It’s obviously black but it’s not gloss or Matt, looks like satin. Does anybody know if there is a paint code? Does anyone know how the frame was painted in the Japanese factory? I assume it was not power coat? What’s the original method? any help would be appreciated thanks Donny

Hi not a Yamaha owner, but asking here on behalf of a friend. ‘E’ reg YSR50. Has been garaged for at least 30 years after the owners son sadly lost his life after coming off bike with a friend aged just 17. (Not this bike). So has sat in garage ever since due to emotional attachment. But he’s moving now and can’t take with him. Had a look at it today and it says 20k miles on clock. Is rough but may be something someone would want as a project. is this something that you’d think would be wanted? Obviously needs full restoration. Owner says they aren’t many in the country (or at least not at the time of purchase, which…

So I recently discovered that the tube style main fuse on the stock fuse box on my 750 was faulty. One of the terminals cracked from corrosion and the other had melted the plastic holding it onto the box. The result was no start. After figiting with it it would start, but the problem got worse and eventually i couldn't get it to stay in with the vibrations from the engine knocking it loose each time. Today I bypassed the old fuse with a new atc mini 20amp fuse using butt end crimp style connectors. Worked fine, until the bike faltered and then died. I was able to get it running intermittently. I would get a couple blocks and then it would die again. So I took it home and …

So I recently got this beautiful 750, was running great for like a week. I took it on a short spin and it died while I was out. I figured it ran out of gas (tank was super super low) so I put some more in it and then started it up. It started but idled extremely low and would die unless i gave it throttle. When i gave it throttle it revved like it should, but when i rolled off the throttle it would hover for a second and then race up 700-1500 rpms before settling down very low and then dying. I let it sit for a day or two and now it just won't start. Was making a loud pop without starting so I figured it was flooded. I popped the plugs out and turned it over a bunch of ti…
