New to the boards here Just bought a 95 XJ900 as an upgrade from a 92 XJ600. Yes I know, glutton for punishment. Living in the UK now in the West Midlands but I am from Canada. Anybody know of any bike salvage yards around here?

Hi Everybody, I'm Mike from North Essex and am the proud new owner of a 1982 RS200. I understand these are pretty thin on the ground and I'm looking forward to riding it and getting it into decent shape. Since I was 14, which was a long time ago, I've had many bikes, from a 1950's Norton, Bantam, 70's Hondas and Suzukis, various more modern enduro and trials bikes (plus a very scary Ossa trials sidecar outfit we managed to campaign for a few seasons) and then onto "Adventure" bikes in later years. Since dropping an Aprillia Pegaso on my driveway and not being able to pick it up without using a trolley-jack, I decided a much lighter Honda CB400SF was the right bike f…

Hi all, I am the new and proud owner of a blue and yellow TZR 250 2MA on a 1988 plate. It's in pretty good original condition and I plan to make it good all round and take it for the occasional spin. I own a few other bikes but they are 4 strokes and fancied a 2 stroke to my collection. At the moment I have no spark going to the HT leads and was curious if anybody had a good idea what the issue is? I have the tank off and am easily able to get to the box which I'm assuming is the coil pack in which the leads connect to etc. I'm no qualified mechanic as you have probably guessed but want to make this my little project. Thanks for having me and I look forward to you …

  8. Hi guys, I'm really new to the forums and I've just acquired an old Yamaha XT600 E (3TB) from 1994. It looks quite bad and first I want to have it up and running as it should then move on to the restoration plan. It was bought from a small mountain village where it has been abused quite a lot from what it looks like. The price was fair and I know I will have to invest twice or maybe triple that amount to have it in a decent condition. First things first: - the uni-sens bearing from the electric start died instantly and its turning but not engaging. (the bike is at a service shop at this moment for fixes beyond my qualification) - the handle bar is bent…

  11. Started by ratch,

So I bought an 85 Maxim 700 (XJ700N) a couple weeks ago. it's in need of TLC but it's pretty solid for driving. I found the Service Manual pdf so i have it on my desktop. I joined so I could get help on the TLC part. Here she is. the previous owner thought he would paint the tank red. Looks horrible but it's just paint. the Key Set(Ignition, tank and Seat) need replaced. the guy lost the key so he jammed a small flat head screwdriver into the ignition and tank. the Petcock is garbage and the fuel level sensor needs replaced. the battery is questionable. it's one of those 12v refillables you can get at Wwalmart but the acid is all gone. a little fuel Line …

Hello everyone. Tavish here from Bombay, India. I have about 9 years of riding and a few years of fixing, tuning, restoring motorcycles behind me. I came to London to do my MSc in Motorcycle Engineering to continue on my chosen career path so it goes without saying I explored all the new bikes and roads and general motorcycling in the country and I do absolutely love it. Maybe not so keen on the grip of the law (am used to a bit of harmless anarchy) but overall a great motorcycling nation I think. Had an international license for a year so got around on a cheap GPZ500S during my student days. Once it expired I bought a '99 ZX6R and went through the intense process …

  14. Hi my name is Todd, I just bought my new 2012 yamaha V Star 950 last week. I'm loving it, its my first bike ever and I'm almost 37 years old. I'm a country guy that grew up around big tractors and trucks. Motorcycles were around, but usually only people that rode were people in trouble..... That has changed in the last 20 years!! Glad to have a bike!

  15. Started by danimal,

Hi everyone, new Yamaha owner here. My wife bought me a couple project bikes for Christmas, one is a '96 Virago 535 with 27,000 miles on it. It's in decent shape, been outside for a bit but overall it shouldn't take much to get running. The gas tanks are pretty rusty inside and I'm going to remove the carbs and clean them, change all the fluids, check the valves, and hopefully that'll be it for the engine. There is some kind of electrical issue too, when you turn on the signals, they all blink back and forth no matter which direction you push. Again, hopefully something simple. For $200, even if I have to sink a couple hundred more into it, we'll have a fun little bike. …

  20. Started by Saulito,

Evening everyone, I was here but due to stuff I lapsed. Well I am back and I now have time to get to grips with my DT250. First of all I need to register the bike and then I can sort out all the legal stuff I need to do. I've had the bike for under a year, its been totally restored and was shipped from NYC a few years back. The guy I brought it off had 16 odd bikes and the DT never got a look in so he sold it to me. So here I am, please be gentle. Any hints or tips appreciated. Cheers saul.
