Hello all. My name is Cameron; I am from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. I just bought my very first motorcycle: a 1973 Yamaha TX500. Just getting the gas tank de-rusted and lined so I won't have problems down the road with rust in the carburetors. In a week, when that's finished, I'll be bringing it in to safety and I'll get it on the road. Anyone have any tips on what to do to get it running well right off the bat? I know I should clean and sync the carbs... any tips regarding that? Thanks. Look forward to the help that is out there from other enthusiasts. -Cameron

Hello all, just bought a 79 DT1 with 9000k. Started first kick and ran strong but... Shades of my CT1. Both would stall for no apparent reason. After half an hour of kicking it would star and run fine till the next time. The DT1 doesn't start. Little or no spark so now the research begins. It looks/felt good while it was running so should be fun. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. It's getting fuel. Battery is 6V. Kill switch is working both on and off. From the schematic, it seems the ignition switch also acts like a kill switch so I believe that part is working. When I put a meter on the (points) side I know there are no points, its just to I'd the wire, …

Hi guys, I have just joined after browsing on the sidelines. I am about to be a born again biker at the age of 57! must be a mid life crisis thing. I used to ride bikes back in the 70's but never passed a test. Anyway to cut a long story short my friends have got me interested in biking again and I am about to take my CBT, and direct access test. As you might guess I am into cruisers having been on the back of my friends Harley. Not having that kind of money i have set my sights on a Yamaha but am not sure what to buy yet, (that is a question for the forum though) I am looking forward to getting back into it again and will no doubt be picking a lot of brains on here.

Hi All I've just picked up a 1980 XS650 US Custom that needs just a bit of TLC!!!! It's not my first Yamaha as back in the 80's I had what was possibly the first LC250 in England as I never did see another on a V plate, other than that I've had quite a few other bikes of Japanese, British and European origin and even a Russian one!!!! As for the old geezer bit at the top I've had bikes ever since I got my first licence back when Slade, Mott the Hoople and T Rex were in the charts so you can work that out for yourselves

New guy, brought my new-to-me 2017 XT250 home on a trailer in the rain Monday. Spent a very rainy Tuesday rearranging my garage to create a parking space for the new member. And, finally got out on the road for a brief ride this evening when the sun finally dried the road and air. Probably no limit to all the things I need to learn.

Evening all, Thought it about time I introduced myself having been a member for a while now. I've had quite a few Yams over the years, starting on a DT50 initially before progressing onto XJ600 pre div (had 3 of these at different times), FZS600 Fazer, XJ600 diversion which I hated, XTZ750 Super Tenere, TDM850 and finally onto the XJ900F pre div I have now. I live in Leicestershire and do all my own bike maintenance which has been made much easier by the addition of a hydraulic ramp recently (highly recommended). I'm more of a lurker than a poster but will try and up my post count! Cheers Craig

Hi all new Yamaha owner here had my brand new (well to me anyway) 1985 XS 250 last week so thought I would join the club. I am saying Hi here but expect I will spend most my time on the site in the classic Yamaha section, why an almost 30 year old 250? Well my GPZ 500 was about past its sell by date needed a lot for the MOT this time so needed a change. Been looking at reviews and whatever and getting a little fed of the need for more power better ABS more electronics etc. Seams you can’t go more than a few miles without a massive array of luggage or 1300 cc of power or you can’t have fun on anything that doesn’t have your bum in the air and low bars and my back …

Hello! I don't remember if I ever made a post here, but I think I have forgot about it. I have since long been an owner of a Yamaha DT50 MX and just recently bought a DT 125 LC (-87). Thought I would become a member here and hopefully gains some new knowledge from others experience, participate in a few discussions and perhaps get any hints and clues of where to get thingd or how to fix something. (Currently, I am searching high and low after a rear mudguard (the part which holds the break light and license plate) to the DT 125, but havn't had any luck yet, anyone having a spare one or know where I can find any after market ones that fits?) Take care guys, a…
