I wanted to say hi as a new member and share my story. This bike is the bike my father gave me in 1980, the year before he passed. It was originally a stock GTMX80...yellow in color and took a beating from me. 30 years later, I've been able to restore the bike and give it to my 11 year old son. I know it's not original and restored to stock, but all the parts are stock and the same that I rode on when I was 10, excluding the piston and rings. I'll show before and after pics if the site allows. And BTW, these are the colors and all my son wanted. Hope you enjoy. Thanks, Workman

In need of some guidance please. I've just joined this forum having recently purchased a 1980 registered MR50 (DT50M) import from Japan for my 15 yr old son to restore and make ready for him to ride. This is my first Yamaha in 34 years of riding bikes and my first import. Finding the right bits is proving to be a challenge. The MR50 appears to be very similar to the DT50M. (well I think so.) Can someone advise whether MR50 parts are available in the UK or is it case of order what appears to be right based on pictures of DT 50 M and MX parts. In particular the airbox assembly seems as though it may be unique to the MR. Is this the case? Are there any other parts that are …

Hi all! New member hailing from South Africa. Bought an old 1978 Yamaha RS195 (the RS200 was sold under this model in S.A). I have been converting it into a café racer slowly but surely. Cosmetically it's at 90%, but the engine needs some work. There is a problem with the starting, one pipe smokes excessively, then dies; I believe the crank seals need to be replaced so I had some delivered from Wemoto. Unfortunately installing a classic slimline café seat arrangement is a bit of a pain since the oil tank protrudes under the seat cavity. As a result the original seat was kept, and it actually looks quite neat IMO. Interested in what everyone thinks!

Hi All, hI have been looking for a site where I can ask questions from any who have previous experience as there seems to be little info on the RS200, an example of which I have just bought to restore or turn into a little cafe racer style bike for my son. First question : Where can you get engine parts for this type of bike?

Hi all, middle aged English guy here. I keep an old SR125 in Cyprus for cheap sunny winter holidays and it's great for exploring on and off road. The trails here are fantastic and when I've gained some more experience I'll probably get a small Yamaha dirt bike, but for now the SR is so much fun! Typical Cyprus mods include holes drilled in back end of exhaust for heroic sounds and a 16 tooth front sprocket for a bit more top speed. Just changed chain and sprockets back to original spec to get lower 1st gear for steep gravelly hills. And I filled the exhaust holes because I was shaking the plaster off old houses as I rode past! Hi just joined been a biker for 50+ years and recently brought an unloved unused xj 600 back to life to keep myself from becoming a couch potato this winter! First in line four ever owned having almost every other shape and size over the years. Now riding with both wheels on the tarmac but still enjoying biking!

Hi all, New Member to the site, although my first Yamaha was a DT50 29 years ago! I've had numerous bikes, spent countless hours in the shed stripping and rebuilding all sorts, I'm no bike mechanic but I do know enough to get myself up and running again. So, hopefully I'll get to pick your brains to at one point, anyway, great to be s yam member at last! By the way, I am currently searching for a MT03 2006 right hand side foot hanger, where the brake pedal connects to, if anyone has one in UK, give me a shout. Cheers.

Hi Guys, Just signed up today, having just got my second Yamaha ever, since owning a brand new RD250B back in 1975. Ooops, giving my age away there. Aw, sod it, who cares. Just imported a Yam XS650 from a mate in Oz. It's a Street Scrambler custom build with a rephased motor with a 750 big bore kit. The bike was totally mint when in Oz but sadly the three month (yes, 3 months!!) sea voyage has taken its toll on the bike, not to mention some dimwit had the brainwave of strapping the bike down in the contained with a strap over the newly painred tank, which now sports a dent right across the top. Anyway, the bike still looks ace and I'm looking forward to regis…

Hi all I have today purchased a dragstar 1100. After an awful ride home ( weather and bike problems) I am still excited and hasty with the purchase. I think a home service and carb clean and check we should be running smoothly! (Well that's what I am hoping!) This is my first cruiser type bike and even with all the problems on the journey home there were moments where I could see what the draw is. Comfortable and easy going. I think my sports bike days are well and truly behind me now.

Hi Everyone I have just joined this club in the hope that someone here can help me out! I don't have a bike of my own at the moment but my son has two - a new Derbi which he regrets buying (no fun) and an 02 DT125R which he has just bought for fun - and has provided very little so far!!!!! He has had the bike for about a week now and for the first 3 days he was over the moon, but then noticed that as it "hit the power-band" it started to struggle and sounded like it was miss-firing. It also became difficult to start. This increasingly worsened until last night it died on him at traffic-lights and ended up coming home in the back of a van. I am not th…

Just a quick hello to everyone. Back to biking after a few years away but staying away from the big bikes this time so have gone back to my youth and opted for a DT175MX. It was partly restored when I purchased it in Feb this year. After sourcing a few parts and having the guys at RN Motorcycles fix a few problems it passed the MOT with flying colours and now just waiting for the Tank to be sprayed. Will Add photos if anyone is interested. Its first outing should be at BMAD in Paignton on Weds 3rd June. Not a show bike as I bought it to ride and have fun. I am sure I will be asking for advice over the next few weeks. Keith
