I am a short lady who loves this bike, but it is uncomfortable for more than a couple hour ride because I have to reach to have my hands hit the handle bars. Neck issues if I ride longer. I am close to the blue ridge parkway and want to be able to ride more comfortably next spring. Any suggestions? The riser that looked like it would work, the Rox model 650342. I was told it is no longer made and that Rox is out of business (I was talking to Revolution Power Sports). My 2013 Yamaha Custom Deluxe Touring bike has the fairing and the handle bars go through the speedometer mount. I've added 2 inches to my seat, but still can't reach correctly. Any suggestions are gre…

2007 XVS 1100 Classic. Front downpipe could do with re-chroming. Just had the pipe off for an oil & filter change and found that there is the front chromed section and under the heat shield, the rear section, which fits inside the front, is black. Is this rear part removable or is it welded in place please? I don't want to start braying on it if it is welded!

hi my virago 535 should be ready for me to purchase within the week. I went from a sr125 t reg to a ybr 250 2010 plate, but I find the ybr a pain to ride even though being younger its reliable. So moving on up to a virago 535 as I can touch the floor and the weight is easy. I have two questions baring in mind I commute on the bike as well as ride for the joy if it too, so reliability has to be sought. (bit worried about going to a 1997 plate for that!). However, I was thinking of getting heated grips and hazard warning lights fitted for those cold winter nights in rain etc filtering. Would this bike be capable of having them fitted and then powering them wi…

Hi guys, just joined this forum as im new to customs and need your advice please. I have a 2007 dragstar 1100 which i purchased back in the spring. First time custom rider and im well impressed with my new bike, however the bike has a vance and hines exhaust system onit which i believe causes this popping on decaccelerating and being a considerate type i find it a little too noisy when popping back, specially round walkers with dogs etc?? Anyways i understand this is normal with these type of pipes, the bikes sounds and rides beautifully but what ide like to know is, can i replace the exhaust with a standard muffler/ exhaust? and if so would i have to get the carbs r…

The book says Yamalube 4 10W30 or 20W40, but no mention of type. Yam do mineral, semi-synth & full synth. and unfortunately, their prices are rather "imaginative". Yam don't make oils, so what are their oils exactly? I know about avoiding many car oils, because of friction reducing additives & clutch slip, but my local dealer said he recently serviced a VS 1100 for a customer, used their stock, branded motorcycle specific oil (don't remember the brand) and the customer came back complaining of clutch slip. In my previous 2 machines, Suzuki Katana 650 and Bonneville 850, I used Unipart semi-synth and had no problems, but the clutch slip phenomena…

Hi folks! Unfortunately I drop my ride and break the saddlebags. I can't find any bags in Ukraine, so, I find amazing bags in US (with hardware mounting tool). So my question is: There are any difference between those motorcycles in the title of topic? (2004 year). Thanks a lot.

Admin, sorry if this shouldn't be in this category. I currently have a set of these fitted to my 650 Dragstar but they are too far forward for me, being shorter legged. Is there anyway of altering them? I'm fairly good with spanners but I can't see there is really much adjustment. They are in really good clean condition with built in engine bars. Does anyone want to swap or exchange for boards or original controls with engine bars etc.

I have a Clymer manual for the bike & it says to turn the engine clockwise (looking from nearside) to get TDCs and align timing marks. Looking on YouTube, the clip below says to turn anticlockwise. Which is correct please?

Hi there, Can anyone tell the thread pitch of the bolts that secure the boot from the carbs to the intake manifold? I've had a world of pain with one of these shearing off leaving the bolt stem stuck inside the cylinder head which has been drilled, but still needs to be re-tapped and I don't have a pitch guage to check the pitch to order the right tap. I know the bolts are metric 10mm. Any help would be greatly received.

Having had zero experience of changing handlebars, or even sitting on a bike with non-standard bars, I'm after some advice about which after-market bars look both good AND are comfortable. I'm 6'3" and currently my XVS1100 is standard, although I'm considering extending the controls 4-6" forward using the kits from America which are currently on ebay, as I can get a little sore along the crease (between thigh and pelvis) of my right leg. I kinda like the idea of 12" apes but I don't want to modify the cables just yet, so am thinking T-bars or Drag bars. I'm not keen on the look of beach or nostalgia bars. I'm completely open to suggestions though as I don't what …

Hi Everyone, I want to thank everyone who helped me with my mystery Virago 125 starting problem. After replacing the gasket on the generator cover, I had inadvertently caught two of the five wires connecting the stator wires to the CDI wires, I had mashed them without realising...I won't do that again in a hurry. Went out to test her today and she started first time and went like a dream. This was after: new reg/rec, fuel pump, CDI, wiring replacement, new oil, spark plugs, all fuses and a new headlight bulb!!! I've learnt a lot just by doing all this stuff and following all your good advice. Ride free!!! Sarah

I have a set of standard V-star / Dragstar 1100 rear pipes.I Have already chopped the ends off, to open them up and they sound OK with a deep rumble but not too loud.Looking into the cans there is a second baffle plate with four holes in it with a couple of small pipes attached.Could anyone tell me what is behind that ?If I shine a light into either end of the exhaust I can not see any shinning through? I was thinking of opening up the can and then baffling it back to the 1 3/4 x 9 1/2 inch pipe suggested on the V-star Wikki page. And then slash cutting them.Has anyone had any dealings with modifying stock pipes?Any info would be most useful.I am also planning to Pod the i…

So I just bought my first bike, a 1998 Yamaha V Star 650. This is where I get a little confused though, it has some mods done to it and I really don't know what they are, lol. I know the seller told me it was lowered, has a "Bobber Kit" and a Hyper Charger, and he changed the exhaust and all the lighting. What exactly is a Bobber Kit, and what does the Hyper Charger do? Also, I would like to add a passenger seat eventually to this bike, if possible, and how would I go about that? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, This is my first post so be gentle!!! My 125 Virago blew a fuse...melted main fuses, all lights went off and it stopped. Trusty husband (with my help) replaced faulty fuses, checked all wiring for connections, put on new reg/rec, new TDI? We've checked the coils, the carbs have been cleaned, new fuel pump installed, new plugs, topped up battery. Horn works! (so not battery) lights all good, it wants to start, but spark is delayed ie I hit start button and about half a second later there is a spark. We are stumped and would be very grateful for any and all assistance Cheers, Sarah

I've got a fuel leak as my tank has corroded so I'm looking to replace the tank. I have a 98 XVS 650 Dragstar but am unsure if a newer model tank would still fit. There are a few on Ebay, from the States but many are listed as 2000 +. Does anybody know which tanks I may be able to use. Also if anybody knows anywhere in the UK I may be able to pick one up, please let me know. I have tried Partfinder and got one possible but hoping for something a little cheaper and better condition.
