I've just put a newer engine (don't know the age but probably an import as the clocks off it are in KM) into my 85 XT350 but the crankcase breather is different, on the original engine it went straight from the cases up to the airbox, the new engine has a longer breather with a T-piece in it. All the manuals I have or have seen even for the newer bikes show the same breather as my original engine.Anybody know?? I would add a picture but don't seem to be able to do it.

Hi there all, I have nearly finished my project of giving my old DT175mx a new lease of life. I have started from scratch with new built wheels, tyres, brand new nos front and rear pipe, re-built engine with new selas and all new bearings, new spray job inc powder coating frame. Nos cables, indicaters, handlebars, plastics. Just put a brand new battery on it and tried indicators.................you flick the switch and they take around 5 seconds to come on. Then they seem to flick ok, although the rear light seems to dim each time they flick on. even when you rev the engine. Will try a new flasher unit to see if that sorts the problem. Tried a different reg…

After having removed the head, barrel and piston for a good de-coke I find a very thin spacer / oil control ring sitting under / behind the second piston ring. Looking in all the manuals and on the web there doesn’t appear to be any reference to this ring ??? I believe it to be an oil control ring ? but not totally sure why it’s fitted, I must admit it was a bit of a shock to find it hiding away in the piston groove. I don’t recall coming across a ring like this when rebuilding a 2 stroke previously. Anyway I believe it should be replaced on reassembly which is fine as I know where it came from however the 2 piston rings seem slightly different and I’m not sure whic…

Sunrise Graphics want a lot of money for the complete set but I have found a graphics company that will manufacture a complete set for £16. I have a photo of the set but need all the sizes, can you help ??? Thanks.

Hi all, Thanks for a great forum. Here's a few pictures of the DT I got last year: It was advertised like this: I was able to go out and have a look as it wasn't far from home. It wouldn't start or go in gear but I figured at $250 I could strip it for parts anyway: Turns out apart from a buggered piston it was pretty good really. Spent a bit of time cleaning bits like the clutch which was rusted together and getting the water out of the transmission. It's registered now so clocking up the km's where I can. Once it's settled I'll venture a little further up into the hills I'm heading towards an MX looking type of thing unless I change my mind!...…

Hello all, I'm new to the enduro world as I have just acquired a 1978 dt 175 enduro. I know I have a long road ahead of me rebuilding the engine but as I do so I would like to be able to replace things like the seat and fenders. There's not a lot of new parts that I can find online (if any at all) and was wondering if anyone would know where I could find such items. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank You- Craig

Sorry, more carb questions. I'm converting my DT125MX 1982 with the barrel, head, carb etc from a 1978 DT175MX. The bloke I bought them of swears that the carb is correct and original but I can't find it in the manuals! its a mikuni, stamped 4L100. The carb looks quite a bit bigger than the 125's and when I Googled the number it came up as a VM26. Right so here are my questions :- Have VM26's ever been fitted to the 175's ? Would they work on a 175 (overbored to + 1.50)? Could the 125 carb work on the 175 engine? Can I buy the correct carb anywhere if the answers to the above are negative? Also how do I check if it is a VM26 and confirm the Google info, I presume the…

These are rookie questions I know, but I just purchased a sweet low mile 1981 DT 175 and the previous Owner is still looking for the original manual. Can anyone tell me the viscosity and amont for the transmission oil, the spark plug gap, and the spec for chain adjustment? Thanks - Chris

Hello all, new to the forum but glad I found it. Just bought what appears to be a 1979 Dt 175 for 160$. This is my first bike and I'm planning on a complete restore. First problem I've ran into is the age of this thing, everyone keeps telling me it couldn't be a 79 because of the shocks. So With a couple of pictures I'll leave it up to you guys to decide. *Surprisingly there's almost no rust on this bike, it was just extremely dirty!

Hi guys, I have a DT200R 1994 and I need to find a plastic tank that will fit, in order to reduce some weight. I asked acerbis and Clarke makers, but they won't be sure some of theirs will fit. The bike seems like a WR200 -the one WITH lights- but it has different tank and seat... Any ideas?

My DT125R starts ok, then after an uncertain time of running it will splutter out, then will be very difficult to start up again. Anyone know what might be the problem? Cheers.
