Afternoon all We went to the motorbike show at the NEC and noticed there were owners clubs there for Honda, Suzuki, Harley, etc, etc but none for us!! We were also quite disappointed at the Yamaha section so was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a Yamaha owners club there? As I've said on numerous posts(!!), I'm new to this biking world and love talking to bikers and would have really liked to have seen a stall for us. If anyone's interested, I don't mind getting hold of Yamaha to see if they would fund it or have a little section of their stand next year set up as an owners section. There seems to be a great cameraderie between bikers and certa…

My Chain was FUBAR, and following a suggestion from here, I bought a Tsubaki XRing Sigma chain. Having done s ome research, its, its meant to be the one to beat. I have no experience with XRing chains at all. I fitted it yesterday, and the difference was immediatley apparant as the wheel rotated smotthly and for much longer then the old chain allowed. Riding it however, I had an "Oh Shit" moment. The nosie it makes is unnerving. Its sounds like a knackered old grea box. It whines under any load at all. Is that normal for XRing chains or is there a problem? I replaced both sprockets too by the way. Thank you in advance for you help. Neil

I've just managed to drop one of the air filter screws on the right hand side of the air filter. It's disappeared into a gap and not come out the bottom of my R1, despite removing all the panelling. PLEASE someone else tell me they've done this too! I've no idea where it's gone, would appreciate anyone suggestions as to how to find it / get it out. Rob

Hi Guys, Ok, the bike's nearly ready to go back and get a proper MOT. I've picked up the forks with the new seals and fitted them today and rectified everything on the list bar 2 things.... one is just a bolt, so no worry there. My quandry is the chain...... the guy mentioned that it was too loose and gaps were showing around the rear sprocket. I've had the chain off and lubed it up, put it back on and tensioned it up...... but there are still gaps around the sprocket, though only at the bottom half. How do I remedy this, or what does it mean? Is it a stretched chain? Any help will be greatly appreciated...... Cheers!!! (",)

I went out for my first long ride since passing my CBT and getting my bike today and all was going well Till a chuffing white van driver was up my bum so being on a 125 i couldnt leave him so i let him go past and about 300 yards down the road I got skimmed by a empty bottel of coke a cola i think it was the frigin idiot. I saw his arm out the window and the Barsteward threw it out. I couldnt belive it as he knew i was there as he had only just overtaken me. I dread to think what could of happened if it would of hit me. I was doing 50 mph when that bottel whisked by my head. I just wish I had taken his licence number down but guess the police would do nothing anyway. H…

  13. Started by 77500Xs,

Is there anything I can do to improve my balance when stopping and taking off? It always seems as though I need to go back and fourth when slowing down and taking off to keep secure balance on the bike. I was using one foot to balance but now am starting to use both feet when coming into a stop for better balance. I guess I am asking what most people are using for the best combination of braking and balancing when stoping and taking off. I have been riding for a couple months now and am trying to refine the smoothness in this process; it's a lot harder then what most non-bikers think! I have a 77 500 xs with vertical controls. Thanks guys.

Hi All I just thought I'd say hello. I just got a 98 FZS600, I actually bought it new and sold it onto a friend. He's had it laid up for a couple of years in his garage so when he said he wanted rid I bought it back. It's a lot worse for wear, my mate used it for commuting for a couple of years, didn't wash it at all I think in that time and then left it corroding to itself in the back of his garage for another two years. So far every little job is a big struggle against the demon corrosion. All visible fixings are just balls of rust, downpipes and collector are held together by rust, engine is practically bare furry aluminium, battery dead, tyres illegal and one vis…
