  1. Wonder if anyone might be able to help. This morning I switched my Sr125 to the reserve, it was very tight and wanted to know for sure it worked before I ran out. Got it moved round and then put it back. Went back out to the bike half hour later and found it had leaked. There is a fuel pipe on the opposite side which doesn't appear to go to anything, this is where it has leaked from. Could this be a bleeder pipe or overflow? Or could this point at a good reason not to use the reserve? The patch of petrol is only about 6 or 7" and doesn't appear to be leaking now its not turned to reserve.

hello there peeps, I'm in a bit of a dilemma, i'm planning on doing my cbt soon and am stuck between 2 bikes. The yzf r125 and the dt 125. I've hear good things about the dt but its not as pretty as the yzf r125. i'm not too fussed about going off road to be honest so i'd tend to lean towards the sports bikes - no pun intended. so what's that got to do with 250's? well, i asked my nan for help to buy my bike, but she's just offered to give me a couple of grand for one. which is great as i'm not made of money, or well off enough to get it myself. with that in mind, i emailed the place where they do the cbt's and they said i could do a direct access course thing…

Can anyone recommend any paper maps that are particularly good for motorcycle use? It's just for UK really, and I generally use a satnav but thought it would be nice to go back to a paper map in the tank-bag Otherwise I'll just go get any old map off Amazon that fits the size.

Well I have only don 900 miles since passing my test and the last few days have been real nice with the weather being sunny. I love being part of the 'nodding' club but no-one to nod to today when I had to make a 2 hour round trip from Byfleet to Newbury in the worst that it could throw down- on the M4 What can I say, the Ixon clothing kept my clothes dry and feeling a little warmer , the Dianese boots at £100+ were NOT waterproof , my Racer gloves at £100+ were waterproof .... for the 1st hour , the Bluetronics bluetooth comms got soaked and gave up after 30 minutes so no more tunes on the m/way but I gained a little confidence in riding in the wet even if the…

Got some new knobbly tires on the bike yesterday so thought i would do a spot of greenlaning Went well for the first hour or so then....i went too quick through a large dip in the path (far too fast) and bottomed out my suspension, this got the numberplate to catch on the wheel, this smashed the reg plate to bits taking the left rear indicator with it AND also smashed the rear bearing Had to get it just ticking over in first whilst walking very briskly alongside it for a mile or two then managed to get signal then got hold of family to come and fetch me, and the bike of course. I found the bit with the reflector on the path and the rest was spre…

  7. Hi , I'm logging in to help a friend who has bought a bike here in Ireland and doesn't know the model name, he can't get insurance without it and apparently it was imported from the us in 1997. I don't have a pic but am going to look at it tomorrow. It says its a Yamaha custom on the tank and its a 750, he recons it's a four pot inline and arranged from left to right while sitting on the bike.ITs a single seat and built/sold org in 1988... Straight bars and a fat rear tyre with a tight fitting mudguard. I know this may be a home made special but he's hoping its a prod bike for insurance reasons... Anyone know what model it may be by my hazy description....

  9. recently purchased a DT125 RE 2006 for £1300, which i thought wasn't bad with 12000 and only unrestricted since 10000, reliable etc etc etc Anyway spoke to a mate of mine who rides bikes, he said, never sell it, even if you dont ride it, keep it as they are only going to go up in price because they dont make 2 stroke's anymore. That true?? And why have they stopped making 2 strokes?? Did a bit of reading up, and people were saying emissions, surely that cant be true??? all the shite that China and India pump out and they stopped making 2 strokes because of their emissions??? We could literally turn EVERYTHING off in this country and it wouldnt make any neg…

  10. So riding to work this morning and a sneaky bugger decided to fly in under my helmet! In a car, the missus panics cos she can't see where it is. This morning I could see it very clearly sat on my nose at 50mph!! Slowed down to 30 and lifted the visor and the little shit then sat on my eyebrow. Talk about adrenalin rush as I stop the bike and remove my lid! I had 2 bikers stop and ask if I was alright one a yammy, the other a BMW! Can you believe it? A BMW rider actually stopping and caring???? Luckily at o' Christ hundred hours there were hardly any cars out. Anybody else had issues with wasps in their helmet?

Hi, I'm doing some work with the government on motorcycle road safety and had a few quick questions I'm hoping you can help with. What could car drivers do better to make the roads safer for motorcyclists? Where do you get riding tips from, other riders, forums, government advertising? List 5 words which would describe how you think car drivers see you? How would you like them to see you? What’s the best part about riding? What’s the best part of the riding community? If you could tell drivers 1 thing, what would it be? If you're in Australia, is there anything specific you'd like to add about road safety here? It'd be great if you can copy and paste the questions and…

Hi all. As I'm new to biking (had my licence since June 2013) the first set of jacket and trousers I bought were textile ones. I'm looking in to buying a leather jacket and trouser set and wondered if anybody has heard of the brand, and if so what are your thoughts? Thought I'd ask as it's a lot of money to spend (500 pound for the set I'm looking at!!). Any advice would be gratefully received.

I know it sounds like a dull title but I spend all my time on motorways and such. So once I had fully cleaned all the oily gunk from my oil leak incident, and fixed the scottoiler as a bonus I popped out for a 'quick spin'. Riding down the same roads I saw a 'not suitable for HGV' sign. That's for me says I, well the next 40 miles passed as single track, lanes in 500year old villages and simple roads to nowhere, couple were even 2 separate strips of tarmac. Just turning down roads that were signed as narrow or restricted in some way. Ended on a farm at one point. Hardly saw another vehicle and spent most of the time at 20 or 30mph. Really made a change, everythin…

So I'm pootling around on my 125, and it's great for commuting the 3 miles to work, but I want more. Looking to try for my big boy license, and everywhere I turn people are trying to sell me 14hr+ direct access packages. Not a bad way to make £600, but then I am a cynic. Perhaps I'm just being overconfident, but I've had a car license for 10 years, so I know the rules of the road. I ride to and from work every day in rush hour traffic and I'm not dead yet (6 months now). Is it really that hard to pass your test? I've spoken to a few riders who are family/friends, and they've said take a few lessons then just bang in for your test, see what happens. I'm incline…

Been a little while since I posted, I've been out enjoying the summer here since it's only a few months long in Canada.... but have some good and bad news! 12k kms after the rebuild on the old 86 FZ600 it decided to blow up. Connecting rod end cap let loose and boom...hole in the case. I have enough parts to rebuild but in the meantime, it was an incredible excuse for an upgrade. I searched far and wide, and found a killer deal on a 1999 Yamaha R6... and HOLEEEEEY shit, WHAT an upgrade it is. Such a smooth bike compared to the old girl, everything feels more stable, however you require a lot of self restraint to not twist the throttle open on a curve and kill yourse…
