Just wondering, can you park your bike anywhere in town centres? Just as long as it's not in the way or anything? Can I just chain it to a fence or something would that be OK? The traffic warden won't get me right?

Hi, I am looking for some advice on a problem with my motorbike.... it has never run correctly and the problem has gone from bad to worse! I bought a 1995 FZR600 a year ago and on the first outing it had a spluttering issue at about 7000 rpm. If you keep the power in it broke through it and then carried on revving okish. I contacted the guy I bought it from and he said "the bike has been sitting for a while so old fuel and/or blockage in the carbs could be the problem". Anyway I lived with the problem for a few hundred miles until one day it went from 4 cylinders to 2 and I crawled to my local bike mechanic. He discovered the the CDi was fried as was one of the igni…

Scary sights. I will kick off with one I witnessed on the motorway today. Nothing special annonymous 500cc something. Lane 3 doing a good 70+ running with and between traffic. Wearing..........visorless open face lid with sunglasses, wife beater vest and I assume budgie smugglers (either that or he was nekid from the waist ) with deck shoes. Can you imagine the mess.....I thought I was being reckless leaving my overtrousers off. Must be some more scary sights.......

Apologies in advance if this subject has been covered before/recently but i missed it. This summer I will be building up 2 bikes with frames that came from outside the country, 1 is an XVS125 Dragstar (frame came from northern Ireland with no V5 & plate) the other is an XVS400 Dragstar (frame from Europe on NOVA) What I require is any links/guidance in doing the registration process. Thank you kindly Richard

i've just turned 21. so now i can ride around with my bike on full power. Im not your normal 21 year old who all seem to just want to get from a to b at 140 mph. i did have a thundercat but as some of you might know i had a really bad smash meaning i haven't got anything on the road. but i just wondered what other people thought of this restriction rule. it seems that it's always one rule for bikes and another rule for cars.

So the days are nearing to the inevitable purchase of my YBR 125 for commuting to work. I'm sorting out the place where I will keep it at home at the moment, but don't have a place to keep it under cover - like in a garage or secluded area. I'm worried that a bike is such an easy target for vandalism or just plan robbin'! How can I help stop people getting their hands on my pride and joy? I'd love to hear where you keep your bike if not in a garage and if you've had any troubles doing it that way. Parking at work is fine, being a fort with guard dogs! MrL

  12. Hi everyone, Last time I asked you for advice on how to ride on UK roads like a gentleman, which was really helpful. I've now been doing it for a while now and your tips were spot on. Now I'm afraid it's time to sell my noble steed and upgrade to something heavier. This bike has been a family member for the last 7 years, so I'd rather sell it privately rather than part exchange. The legal aspect of it seems pretty easy - a few signatures and a tear-away slip on the registration document, but I'm unsure how to handle the actual sale process. Suppose I put up an ad, a prospect buyer shows up and we have a little chat - is it customary to then allow a test rid…

As I have suffered from condensation on my bike while stored in a wooden shed with a concrete floor (ventilated to a small extent) I am considering lining the interior with plywood, does anyone have any ideas etc as to whether it would be worthwhile insulating the walls as well please?

Hi all. I've been Googling this and not getting much luck. Does anyone recommend any good bike shops around Manchester that sell things like fuel filters, gaskets etc. You know, like motor factors like BMS or Euro car parts but for bikes. I know I could go to a main dealer but I imagine everything for a 91 bike would be special order and cost a lot more. I've found various online shops but sometimes it's just good to go somewhere and buy the stuff you need to do a job. Anywhere that caters for older bikes but be helpful. It probably sounds like a daft question but when you're just getting back into bikes it can be hard to find stuff you need. Cheers

At last my bike is sorted, 12 months mot, fork seals, brake pads, electrics, front wheel bearings all for £219! I'm very pleased with it, they have done a good job and serviced it as well i.e. oiling cables ect. The bike is sorted now and as long as I look after her there will be no major problems.
