hi all can any one help me my engine in my xt is a 3y3 engine and ive had trouble with no compression i took the head off and noticed the valves r marked 3y1 would this b my cause! thanks robbie

  6. Started by Variomatic,

Right, my engine has had low compression (AGAIN). Took it apart expecting to see another scored cylinder, but the cylinder is perfectly fine. I'm very confused at this point. So I decided to have a close look at the valves, visually they seem to be ok, but I've noticed on the valve seat where it meets the valve is covered in soot and general muck, shouldn't the mating surface be clean? I'm utterly stumped, the bore looks good, the valves look good, no signs of compression leaking past the head gasket. I'm utterly lost.

Hi guys I have been running my "new" 1975 dt175 and it runs pretty good. Hard to start it at time but overall pretty good. Since I am no mechanic I want to take it for a checkup. Does anyone in the forum know of a mechanic in Vancouver I can take it to? Somebody that understands these bikes. I called a local garage they they were quick to tell me it was expensive to fix old bikes, but I am thinking for somebody with experience these bikes are pretty simple. Any ideas welcome Cheers Alex

Hi, Recently purchased an unfinished project off Ebay and the fella at the time said he didn't have the V5 and that the original owner "had the bike from new" and "used it on a farm". He's been on Ebay a while and his feedback was legit and on meeting him he's a bike restorer and he said that he had too much on and didn't have time to get around to finishing the rest, he bought it as unfinished too. I didn't get a whiff of anything dodgy. Anyway i used an online service where you pay a fiver and they search your VIN and if they don't find anything you get your fiver back or they send you the registration number if they do. Anyway, I got my fiver back…

Just wondering if anyone has used a Ventura rack on their bike. If so, how has it been, how does it feel when riding, etc? I picked one up quite cheap on ebay for my FZR, as I wanted to tour a bit.

Help, Does anybody know what size screw holds the Ignition starter switch housing together from behind and below? - it looked like a round head machine screw before it fell onto the lawn,,,,,,,,,,,,, And do you have one to send to a Londoner? (Two might be a good idea, as I am fairly clumsy.)

  16. Hello All, A friend directed me to this site, hopefully to find someone who knows more about my "new" vintage purchase... a 1983 Venture Royale. The bike runs and rides well. The guy I bought it from never disclosed the lost gears, he told me it had its cosmetic problems, though. The plastics on the bike all needed repair, the seat needed to be reupholstered, a new head pipe, etc etc etc. I was fleeced and it is my fault for buying a bike in late Jan in new england and not being able to take it for a proper test ride. All the cosmetics are done, the bike was tuned, new plugs and such. I took it out for a shake-down ride two weeks ago and I have smooth shifts, neu…

  17. The stage was not enjoyed by all Yamaha riders unfortunately. Spanish Yamaha rider Juan Pedrero didn’t start this morning and was very nearly joined by Xavier de Soultrait, who was ill all night with gastroenteritis. The Frenchman finally arrived at this evening’s bivouac in a courageous 21st place. Overall Olivier Pain maintains his 10th place, Xavier de Soultrait is 13th with Frans Verhoeven 16th. Xavier de Soultrait In the quad category there were some different names on top of the leader board than the usual suspects. Today it was Christophe Declerck who came out on top, leading from fellow Yamaha rider Nelson Sanabria (at 06’35). However the order of the overall st…

Daughter went up to dad just before Christmas and said. "Dad, please, please can I have a barbie doll for Christmas." Dad said "No! Fuck off, do you think I'm made of money?" Daughter said "Please, please, please dad I will do anything to get a barbie doll for Christmas" Dad said "What anything?" "Anything at all" said the daughter. "Right, suck on this" said dad Halfway through she spat it out and said "this tastes like shit!" "Yeah, I know, your brother wants a mountain bike for Christmas"
