Just got back from Matlock. Had an adrenaline fueled ride there and back. It was an awesome ride in both directions, and Matlock itself was extra busy (spolied a bit by LOADS of Harleys), but the trip up there was marred. As I got on to the A610, at about (the speed I was going) I felt something hit my back, then I caught a glimpse of something flying through the air. I pulled over, and found that my single seat unit had blown off! I couldnt see it anywhere. So, after a 1/4 mile walk down the bypass, I walked back up the central reservation, and I found it lying at the edge of the outer lane on the opposite carriageway! Its not looking very healthy anymore, but not as ba…

As you may or may not have heard, road racing legend Robert Dunlop lost his life in a terrible accident at lastnights North West 200 practice. He was on his 250 with Darren burns following closely behind when his bike seized up entering the notorious Mathers Cross bend, Darren Durns could not avoid a collision and he hit Robert. He died later from chest injuries! Darren suffered a broken leg and concussion. This kind of tradgedy comes up every now and again in road racing and we all are aware of the risks, but when a rider is lost, itis felt all over the racing community! we offer our deepest sympathy for Roberts family and close friends. We may never see the lik…

Hello to you all. I am having real probs with my switch, and having checked the haynes manual all seemed to be fairly simple procedure. Now having bought the switch and looked at the bike, the switch is held not with Phillips screws as the manual says, but bolts whose head snap off when torqued up. So, it means having to drill them and use an 'Eazeout'. Has anyone done this job before, and do you have any tips on how to go about it? I use my bike for work, so cannot have it off the road more than 2 days. Any idea as to the size of the bolts and torque pressure (I aint ever used these before)I will have to buy before starting? Any help appreciated, take care, stoot

I got this from someone at work and thought I pass it on. Tips on Filling your Vehicles...This is a Message received from an oil consultant I don't know what you guys are paying for petrol... but here in Durban , we are also paying higher, up to 47.35 per litre. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every litre. Here at the Marian Hill Pipeline, where I work in Durban , we deliver about 4 million litres in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel; the next day is jet fuel, and petrol, LRP and Unleaded. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,0…

I've got a mint 2001 r6 with an engine that needs repair or replacing due to a defect in one of the bores - decision time is do I pay £500+ to get a replacment engine /fix the current engine or sell the bike as spares/repair. The question is how much is a an R6 worth with an engine in it's current state??? On the engine front - if you had the choice between repairing the current engine (15k miles and v.clean) or buying a used engine (like hens teeth and cost £500 and up) what is the preferred option? If I rebuild the current engine it'll have a total rebuild including new pistons/rings, gaskets etc. although this will be around £700. Thanks, Peter

Morning all, as you can see i'm new here. I've had a few off road bikes and more recently got rid of a Blaster 200cc Yamaha quad. About 18 months ago I got a new job in the centre of Cardiff and ive been catching buses ever since and it pains me! It takes 50 minutes to go 4.5 miles on a bus! If I can convince the missus and im trying my best I want to get an XT125R. Now I've done my CBT but about 5 years ago so I guess thats expired?? I have a few questions I hope your helpful lot may be able to answer! 1) I got my Driving Licence in 1996, so do I need to do another CBT to ride a 125? 2) I'm 6'2" and 15 stone, is this bike going to be big enough for m…

After 5 weeks, I am getting my bike back on the road today! Its been a LOOOOON 5 weeks. Picking up the tank and undertray and the final 2 fairing panels from the bodyshop in a few mins, then get back and start reassembly. Knowing my luck it will be raining all afternoon so I wont be able to take her out lol. Not been on here since it came off the raod as it would have been too depressing. I will post some pics up as soon as I have taken some. I have had her done ALMOST standard. There are a couple of extra decals, the decals are Bright White and Chrome instead of Pearl White and Grey, and I have changed teh color very subtley to what i think is an even more vivid Blu…

Hi all !!! I have just joined and thought it would be nice to introduce myself, I live in Norfolk in the UK and I ride a mint 2001 R1 in the best colour which is of course red. The bike was bog standard when I bought it and I thought I would tart it up a bit but I can't stop customising now, love the bike and it is super quick, I have been riding bikes for 20+ years so I know what I like. Pics of my baby, but need some new pics as I have since added carbon frame protectors and an Ohlins across tank steering damper which was definitely needed.

Last year in TWO magazine we ran a feature called 'Turf Wars'. The aim was to find which group of 1000cc sportsbike riders was the best. After a couple of prelim rounds at Boxhill, the final was held at Bruntingthorpe where all the riders got to go nuts for a day (longest wheelie, top speed, drag racing, etc). It was a load of fun and we are planning this years round. We're hoping to do something similar but with 600cc riders this time. If you have an R6 (any model) and are interested, could you get in contact please? (We're also after ZX6Rs, GSXR600s and CBR600 if you know anyone with one who might be interested). If your up for a laugh and fancy getting …
