Hi Thought I had better say hello. New to the forum and returning to biking after a bit of a break. This year will be the 30th anniversary of the year that I was first legally able to ride a bike on the queens highway, so to celebrate I thought it would be appropriate to return to the road on the same make of bike, from the same era, that got me on the road in the first place (what would we have done without Fizzy's?) The bike I have chosen to do a restoration on is a '79 XS 650 SE (really wanted a '78 but couldn't find a good complete one without paying daft money and the '79 one came along for the right money) Hopefully I will be able pick peoples brains on …

Hi my 1st post thinking of going to Assen this weekend, I've no ticket for the track, can you get them at the gate ? is there ever any problem finding a camp site ? do you have to pre book every thing ? still room on a ferry from Harwich on 26th leaving at 0900 and return from the Hook of Holland 29th 1430 for £164. It's 170 miles to Assen from the Hook. Any one going off this site ? Thanks Ian

Hi all I am looking for info on a chain to shaft drive box,I believe there was a Yamaha that had this drive unit fitted but I cannot for the life of me remember what model it is/was. So the question is did Yamaha ever have a bike that had a chain drive motor and a shaft drive wheel,I am looking for the conversion unit and would like to know what to look for and are they as rare as hens teeth or made from unobtanium?? Hi there, My second thread and hopefully quite easy for someone: - how easy is it to change an air filter? I have a 2001 R1 and it looks easy on internet but I have ZERO experience on bikes bar doing an oil change. How long should it take and what the opportunity for me to make a balls up of it? - what are the advantages of specialist air filters vs. standard Yamaha. This may be a really stupid question but I don't know the answer - stock one looks to be around £18 new whereas K&N, which are advertised everywhere, are about £42. Just trying to work out what the benefits are and whether its worth the extra cash. - any recommendations for where I can buy air…
